Chapter 126: The Unique Weapon
As the safe was opened, the materials inside were taken out and placed on the table: a large pile of packaged materials, some well-packaged handwritten books, and one other item.
Alka picked up this last item, which was wrapped in a blue outline, indicating it was the most precious one.
It was an engraving pen. Perhaps because it had been well-preserved in the safe, it only had a tiny bit of fine dust on it. After he wiped it clean, its original appearance was revealed. The body was silver-gray, with light blue lines covering its surface, running all the way to the tip.
"I know this one, a Blue Silk Silver Engraving Pen. Old Bobby had one similar to this."
It was an Engraver's tool, custom-made to better assist an Engraver in completing Spell engravings.
Looking at the pen, Alka smiled and said, "Just what I needed."
When Alka engraved Spells on cards, he used to draw them by hand. This pen would be more efficient and produce higher quality results.
Alka then began to carefully identify and categorize the piled-up materials. They were quite mixed but comprehensive. At least he now had materials to make the Cross of Righteous Fire card, and also materials for the Water Chain. His depleted material stock was finally replenished, providing some assurance for future battles.
The few books were entirely for training Engravers, containing some of his specialized Spells. They also contained insights from an Engraver. Handing these books to someone aspiring to become an Engraver, they could self-study and become a reliable one. There were even some Spells Alka had never seen before.
It was a good harvest, quite satisfactory.
"These things need to be allocated since we all contributed," Alka said, looking at his two companions. "Do either of you want anything?"
The two shook their heads. They couldn't use the materials or the precious engraving pen, and the books were available for anyone to read.
"In that case, I need them. I'll give you money equivalent to their value."
Chadite had no objections; she was long accustomed to this method of allocation.
Pororo took the 3 Golden Sails from Alka's hand that were his share. The pile of materials was collectively worth about 10 Golden Sails, with the engraving pen being the most valuable, but Alka needed it. Based on contributions, Alka would definitely take more than half. Next was Pororo, who was responsible for combat and opening the safe, and then Chadite.
Pororo looked at the Golden Sails in his hand and couldn't help but say, "So this is a Treasure Hunting Team? Does money always come this fast?"
The ease with which a few Golden Sails had come his way made Pororo feel somewhat surreal, especially after the gold nugget from earlier. Although the total wealth wasn't that much to him, it had come too easily. It felt like finding money on the street.
Chadite, standing beside him, heard this and looked at Pororo. Normally, it's not this easy! she couldn't help but silently remark. It's only in the Realm of Pitch Darkness that situations like this occur, which is why countless people flock here.
"Don't worry about it," Alka said with a smile, leading the two of them out.
Looking at the map, he saw another blue point not far from them. Since they were already here, they might as well find it.
Consulting the map, Alka led them to the other side of the town. Before long, they arrived at a small estate just outside it. The estate looked a bit like a regular standalone villa, but half of the building had collapsed, revealing some rooms and decayed furniture inside.
Besides its Fame and Difficulty, this blue point had no other information, indicating that Alka knew nothing about this treasure. The Difficulty was still One Spiral.
Perhaps because they hadn't deliberately concealed their approach, a wisp of eerie green light emerged from the broken villa. An Evil Spirit materialized in front of them, floating on the second floor. This Evil Spirit's power in life might have surpassed the one they encountered earlier because its form hadn't completely mutated yet; only its entire body had become somewhat withered.
Seeing the three people below, it let out a piercing screech and then vanished from sight.
"This thing can turn invisible, huh," Pororo said, looking around cautiously.
Alka raised the Locking Device in his hand but didn't pull the trigger rashly, as every bullet was precious now. It was tough to replenish ammunition unless they left the Realm of Pitch Darkness. Four hundred years ago, the Vibrating Stone Gun hadn't been widespread. Moreover, with Pororo's strength, he probably didn't need much support.
At that moment, two dark green energy balls arched towards Alka and Chadite. Clearly, the Evil Spirit had figured out these two were weaker.
Picking the easier targets.
"Three o'clock!" Alka shouted, relaying Lucilia's prompt to Pororo.
Alka then rolled, dodging one green Energy Bullet, while Chadite punched the other one apart.
Pororo, having heard Alka's shout, gathered a stream of water in his hand and immediately flung it out. The stream didn't leave his hand directly but transformed into a whip-like lash. In an instant, it struck the Evil Spirit, forcing it to reveal its form. The two dark green energy bands it was holding were hit and shattered.
The burst of energy blew the Evil Spirit away, yet the long water whip lashed around it, the tip automatically enveloping it and then forcefully pulling it over. Pororo opened his sharp-toothed mouth and bit down on the soul. With that one strike, the Evil Spirit dissolved into smoke and dispersed.
"UGH! BLEH BLEH!" Pororo spat, retching in disgust. "That stinks! It's disgusting!"
Apparently, the smoke from the shattered Evil Spirit was extremely unpleasant. It seemed unlikely Pororo would be biting Evil Spirits again anytime soon.
With the Evil Spirit vanquished, Alka climbed up through a gap in the collapsed building and saw a skeleton on the second floor. He discovered a very conspicuous blue outline on the skeleton and picked up the item.
It was a weapon resembling a club, though there was a clear difference between the head and the tail. A spherical ball was attached to the top of the club.
Water welled up in Alka's hand, and he carefully cleaned the weapon. Overall, it was brown-gray, and the sphere at the top was a metallic bright silver, with slight scratches on it. It had a distinct matte texture and felt quite weighty in his hand.
Chadite looked on from the side, inspected it, and said, "This is likely a weapon. Although it looks strange, it should be a type of hammer. As for its specific functions, I can't tell. You could try infusing Magic Power into it."
Upon hearing this, Alka infused Magic Power along the long handle. The Magic Power smoothly surged into the sphere at the top. The sphere detached and started floating, though it remained hovering at the club's apex, not drifting freely. Alka couldn't make the sphere fly around at will; the only command he had was to make it return.
After examining it for a moment, Alka thought for a bit, then gripped the club with both hands and struck out with it. The sphere transformed into a flowing light upon the strike and shot out. It directly hit an already unsteady wall, smashing into a pillar. Instantly, the sphere embedded itself in the pillar, and the villa began to shake slightly.
"It's going to collapse!" Alka shouted and jumped down. The other two followed closely, taking a few steps forward upon landing.
With a violent rumbling, the villa completely collapsed, and thick dust billowed around them. Once the dust settled, the villa had become a ruin.
Alka, standing nearby, smiled awkwardly. "I didn't expect this villa to be so fragile." As he said this, Alka waved the club in his hand, and the sphere shot up from the ruins, flying back to him.
Following Alka's actions, Chadite now had a general understanding of how to use this weapon. Looking at the sphere floating at the club's end, she couldn't help but comment, "This weapon really is odd."
Hearing this, Alka nodded in agreement but said helplessly, "For now, there aren't any other handy weapons, so I'll make do with this."
Alka's attack methods were cards and firearms. Although his card-making materials had been replenished, the supply was limited. They couldn't be used carelessly and required careful allocation. As for firearms, the situation was even more dire; the ammunition carried in his Ring was extremely limited, so he couldn't fire as freely as before. Alka's only remaining melee weapon was the dagger he had obtained earlier.
This odd club had come at just the right time. Even if Alka preferred a weapon like a Sailor's Saber, having something was better than nothing, and he couldn't afford to be picky.
Once the sphere was reattached to the club, Alka shouldered it.
He said to the two of them, "Alright, let's head back to the shore and rest."
Upon hearing this, Pororo didn't mind and strode forward. Chadite merely glanced at Alka and then walked forward as well.
Alka didn't feel the need to explain; a certain unspoken understanding had already formed between them.
Yet it had to be said, the Realm of Pitch Darkness was perfectly suited for him. This was especially true for the central area. These islands had originally been a significant area for the two forces, encompassing many important islands and settlements in this region. However, with the outbreak of darkness, almost no one from this region had made it out alive. This resulted in countless treasures being casually abandoned in the ruins of these islands.
It was called treasure hunting, yet it was more like simply reaching a location and taking what was there. The only obstacles were the dark environment, the spirit-affecting Dark Elements, and the souls of Touched Ones that had transformed into Evil Spirits. As long as one could overcome these difficulties, the treasures were practically there for the taking. Moreover, Alka could pinpoint these valuable treasures with precision, making it extremely easy.
Compared to outside the Realm of Pitch Darkness, any highlighted treasure spots, regardless of color, were definitely well-hidden. Otherwise, they would have been discovered long ago. Outside, the same items might require much more effort to find and decode. The Realm of Pitch Darkness was different; treasure hunting here was simple, as long as one had enough strength to resist the encroachment of the darkness.
