Traverse The Fog

Author's Notes

Hello everyone, ScaletheCosmos here!

I'd like to thank everyone who came to read my novel. I hope it brought as much enjoyment as I did while writing it. Traverse the Fog is a story I want to share with the world to be loved.

That said, I'm considering rewriting the volume itself. It's because while the story is what I wanted to write, it isn't the story I wished to tell. What I wanted to write about was a selfish man, Cyrus, thrown into a magical world filled suffering what is more akin to a Silent Hill scenario.

I had the thought while writing volume two. Some of the themes, such as isolation in the crowd and everyone wearing a mask, are somewhat portrayed, but what makes the story great —danger, suspense, mystery, magic, and horror —were limited simply for the sake of realism.

The plot itself was slowed down simply because Cyrus was left in a somewhat safe city without much to do. Worse still, if I kept writing at the same pace, almost hundreds of chapters would go by without much being done. You could hardly have guessed that Blake, Lilie, and Anari are major characters. And I'm sure that barely anyone remembers Atlas and Aislin, mentioned in a scant few chapters.

In the end, the story itself is something I wish others to enjoy and, most importantly, something I hope to be proud of. Something I'd want to leave behind once I'm gone from the mortal coil. Hense the rewrite. That said, it isn't a 1:1 rewrite. What I intend to do is drop Cyrus into what was to be volume two, to which some people would have an idea of where that would be if they've read the later chapters of Team Breeze—the city of Mellor. If I could simplify it a bit, volume one is points A and B, while volume two is points C and D. My idea is to start with point C while jamming snippets of points A and B.

Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

Unfortunately, most arcs will be thrown out. Some readers might find this a hard pill to swallow, but all I can do is tell you that the story you've enjoyed isn't over. Just beginning again. After all, stories are meant to be enjoyed while reading. And it's not like you'd never read about Cyrus and the others again, so long as you have patience.

Now, the important question: How long should you expect the rewrite to take? Well, that's a hard question to answer. In truth, my writing speed has definitely improved after I finished my novel. Back then, it would take me around two to three days to complete a chapter. But now? With some prep, I could write around 4k words per day. This, mind you, does not include editing. In ideal conditions, I could write and post a chapter every day. I even started and finished chapter three just a few days ago. And so long life doesn't throw a wrench in my plan, I'll have around sixty chapters ready in two months.

Anyway, I'm rambling and don't want to take too much of your time. If you have any questions, feel free to DM me or leave a post, and I'll respond as quickly as possible. For those interested, you could also dm me if you'd like to beta-read the new chapters.

Goodbye and enjoy your day, everyone! I thank you for all you've done!

Next chapter will be updated first on this website. Come back and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
