Trapped in Paradise

Chapter 600

Chapter 602. Auntie

“Hei Dou, keep it down. Shu Jun is taking a nap.”

As soon as I entered the house, Hei Dou was making a racket, her voice sharp enough to pierce eardrums—like a single cat trying to assert dominance over three ducks.

Upon hearing her name, Hei Dou shot a disgruntled glance at her sister. “Sis, can’t you just call me Ning Xin? Why stick with that name? I’m all grown up now~”

“Grown up, huh?”

Ning Chu glanced at Hei Dou’s chest.

Hei Dou puffed out her chest in pride, hands on her hips, declaring, “I am!”

Today, she was wearing a fitted short-sleeve shirt, which made her appear rather fashionable, but come autumn or winter, just throwing on an outer layer would probably render her curves almost nonexistent.

In terms of size, let’s say it’s B-cup level—small but not tiny. Still, compared to a Succubus who had given birth, it was kind of embarrassing.

“Even small ones can be cute.”

Ning Chu chuckled, covering her mouth. The teasing tone she used was infuriatingly charming.

“Brother-in-law~ Sister’s bullying me!”

“Oh please, what’s there to compare with your sister over?” Wen Yang, preparing himself a cup of tea, strolled into the study. “I have work to do, so keep the noise down.”

Hei Dou pondered that she really didn’t have anything she could boast about compared to her sister.

When it came to temperament, Ning Chu could play both a mature lady and a youthful girl. Regarding looks, her sister’s seemingly ageless face would likely make her a top contender for prom queen back in college. Even entering showbiz wouldn’t be a stretch. As for intelligence…

The comparison was hopelessly one-sided…

“Sis~ Let’s see who’s taller~”

Suddenly, Hei Dou found a loophole and playfully sidled up to Ning Chu, trying to measure heights.

“Give it a rest. You’re taller than me.” Ning Chu rolled her eyes. “You’re already165 cm, and you’re still comparing yourself to me?”

“Hehe~”

Hei Dou had been taller than her since she was around fifteen or sixteen, and discovering that hurt her pride.

Why should a cute catgirl be this tall?

“Have you eaten? Should I make you something?”

Ning Chu moved towards the kitchen, planning to whip up something to welcome Hei Dou home.

“I’ve eaten! I want fried chicken legs~”

“Then let’s just order takeout?”

She returned from the kitchen, plopping down on the sofa to order Hei Dou a fried chicken meal. Only then did she turn to Hei Dou, who was sitting on one side of the sofa, tail flicking like a cat. “Didn’t you just start school this month? Why are you back already?”

“I’m a junior now! It’s internship time!”

“Internship in junior year?”

“I’m a college student, you know!” Hei Dou flopped down on the sofa, resting her head on Ning Chu’s lap, gazing up at her sister. She continued, “There’s no school now, and staying there just means doing graduation projects. I might as well come out, intern, and find a job.”

She paused for a moment. “Mainly, I just missed you, sis~”

“Your words are pretty sweet.”

Unconsciously, the little kitten they once picked up was now preparing for internships, stepping into society.

Ning Chu felt a pang of nostalgia; she could vividly recall the stormy day when she and Wen Yang first met Hei Dou.

She had been just a little virgin boy back then, who even got teased by the café owner…

“Why don’t you look for an internship near your school?”

“I told you, I can’t find one~” Hei Dou huffed, puffing her cheeks like a child. “What’s wrong with wanting a job with weekends off? It’s like having weekends off is a crime!”

“So I came back to rely on my brother-in-law! His company gives weekends off, right?”

Ning Chu never asked about Wen Yang’s company, tilting her head in thought as she replied, “Well, your brother-in-law definitely gets weekends off.”

But since Wen Yang was the boss, he often worked even at home.

“Speaking of which, have you found a boyfriend yet?” She joked, nudging Hei Dou with her shoulder. “Aren’t you supposed to look for an internship with your boyfriend?”

Hei Dou made a face, “What boyfriend?”

“Shouldn’t you have one by now?”

Ning Chu looked at Hei Dou, puzzled.

Realistically speaking, this cat should be a female lead in her own little royal tale. She’d certainly be pretty enough on the outside; even though her chest was on the smaller side, her overall figure wasn’t bad at all.

“No man is worth anything.”

Ning Chu almost burst out laughing, recalling how this cat was a lovesick fool just a couple of years back, crying over a breakup like it was the end of the world.

“Mom…”

From the other room, her daughter called out in a soft, sleepy voice. Ning Chu and Hei Dou looked up to see their daughter rubbing her drowsy eyes, yawning as she gazed at them from the living room.

Evidently, Hei Dou’s entrance had woken her.

“Shu Jun!”

Hei Dou gleefully dashed over and scooped up her niece into her arms.

The little girl looked a bit bewildered, instinctively struggling and glancing at her mother before staring in confusion at Hei Dou.

“Do you remember who I am?”

The girl’s expression turned even more puzzled, tilting her head while in Hei Dou’s embrace. “Who?”

Hei Dou’s warm smile froze, and she almost burst into tears. “Sis! Look at your daughter!”

With indignation, she scolded, “I took her out to play every day last month! When I went off to school, she cried and chased after me! How could she forget me in just a month? What an ungrateful little wolf!”

“They’re just kids~”

Ning Chu chuckled. After all, her daughter was only three; what could you expect from her memory?

“I’ve watched her grow up~”

Hei Dou’s cat ears perked up excitedly, catching the little girl’s attention as she curiously tugged at them, “Kitty~”

The sudden pain made Hei Dou scream, “Let go! Let go! It hurts!”

“Quiet down, quiet down.” Wen Yang, utterly unamused, knocked on the sliding door of his study. “I still have work to do.”

“Brother-in-law~” Hei Dou set the little girl down and bounced over, “Brother-in-law~ I want to work at your company! How much do you pay? You won’t cheat me, right?”

Wen Yang paused, his eyebrows knitting together slightly, which startled Hei Dou, who quickly adopted a pitiful expression.

“Any position will do as long as I get an intern certificate!”

“It’s possible… how about this, I’ll find someone to guide you, and you’ll learn some skills?”

“Sure! I’m really hardworking!” Hei Dou vowed, patting her chest. “I’ll never let you down! You’re the best, brother-in-law~”

Wen Yang could only shake his head helplessly, completely devoid of expectations for Hei Dou.

Just as Hei Dou was rejoicing, she suddenly felt a painful tug on her tail from behind. She turned around to see a little figure pulling her, trying to drag her towards Ning Chu.

“Mom! Kitty!”

“It’s your aunt, don’t pull her tail, it’s rude.”

“Aunt?”

The sudden pain made Hei Dou’s face turn pale, and she quickly tucked her tail into her pants, muttering, “You’ve been pulling my tail since childhood…”

She returned to sit down beside Ning Chu, propping her legs up on the coffee table like her sister. Their daughter waddled over, following her, and then tripped, falling face-first onto the floor with a loud cry.

Ning Chu had barely registered what happened; Hei Dou was panicking and rushed over to console her, but the little girl just cried louder, leaving Hei Dou scratching her head in worry.

“Sis! Did she fall somewhere?”

“She’s fine; just ignore her and she’ll stop crying.”
