Chapter 351: What was he afraid of?
I got into the car while looking at the building with worry.
It was going to get chaotic with Jin-Yeok taking control.
It would be okay. What I was more worried about was Seo-Jun's condition.
How dire was it that the doctors couldn't even use their advanced technology to make him feel alright as soon as they started treating him?
I worried a lot on the way back to the mansion. With my head pressed to the window and my mind wandering the busy streets, I heaved a little sigh to let go of the frustration and exhaustion in my heart.
Once we got back, I hurried out of the car but found a lot of strange faces in the mansion. They were doctors. Ah, so many doctors.
My eyes traveled from one to the other but I couldn't find Cha Hyun-woo.
Maybe he was in Seo-Jun's room.
And then someone hugged me from behind, startling me.
"Little Min," I called, catching a sight of his pink hair and the smell of his pheromones mixed with his shampoo even before I could see his face.
"You're here, Hyung," he said, excitedly, and I nodded.
He released the hug and spun me around.
"Yeah, I just got here." He was being rather active.
"That's great. Do you want to eat dinner?" He held my hands, talking as if there was nothing wrong. He was smiling so brightly.
He was rather carefree, maybe because he didn't care for Seo-Jun that much but I was worried.
"I've eaten, Little Min," I said. "And... How's Seo-Jun doing?"
As soon as I asked that, he paused, the glow in his eyes decreasing a bit.
I expected this to a degree.
"Well, he's not improving." He said like it was a simple matter. "But he won't die so you don't have to worry too much," he smiled once more.
Did he think I would just dismiss the matter because he said that?
It was as if he expected me to just shake my head and say it'd be a relief while doing whatever he wanted me to do.
He was selfish. Ah, I say it as if I don't also do selfish things. But... I can't do this right now.
"Sorry, Little Min," I said, taking my hands back from his hold. "I'll play with you sometime later, but I need to check up on Seo-Jun right now."
My words struck him with disappointment. He was sad. But more than that, he was afraid.
What was he afraid of?
"I promise to play with you soon," I said, stroking his face. It's not like I'm going anywhere. I'll just be in Seo-Jun's room.
I need to see how the issue is over there. Or was there something else that carried his fear?
"What is it?' I asked him. "Am I in danger?"
Min-Cheol shook his head and then reached for my coat, pinching the hem as he pouted.
"You're safe, Hyung. Nothing's going on but... I missed you, that's all." Oh, this boy.
I decided to hug him. I wrapped my arms around his body and seeing this, he decided to suffocate me with his own hug.
Yeah, a bit too much.
"I missed you too, my baby," I said and his eyes widened, same with mine as I realized I had said something I shouldn't have.
"Baby?" He looked at my face, surprised and I laughed awkwardly.
"Ah, it was a slip. You're definitely not a baby." I turned my face away, thinking it would be better to leave now before I face the consequences of my words. "Min-Cheol, if there's nothing else, then I'll wish you a good night's rest," I said, leaning up to my tiptoe as I drew his face down to kiss his forehead.
I smiled at him and then walked away.
While I walked away, I could see from the corner of my eye as he softly tapped his forehead with a soft blush on his face and he muttered,
"Hyung called me his baby."
Yeah, I knew that was going to happen.
Anyways, I walked up the stairs, the eyes of the doctors who should be busy doing whatever they were doing, staring holes into my body.
I get that they're curious but can they not make it so obvious?
I didn't bother going to my room first and rushed to Seo-Jun's room, as if I was running out of time.
As soon as I got in, I found a sight I didn't know I would ever see in Seo-Jun, the great.
He was writhing in the bed, his expression disgruntled like someone in pain while sweating profusely, soaking not just his clothes but the sheets as well.
"Seo-Jun," his name slipped from my lips before I even realized it, sounding pained and worried at the same time.
The people inside the room turned as they came to notice my presence in the room and among them was Cha Hyun-woo.
It's been a while since I saw that bas- I mean, that doctor's face.
I did say I didn't want to see him often. I hope he no longer has lingering feelings for me.
Seo-Jun barely opened his eyes and looked towards me but I'm not sure his vision was clear. He couldn't see clearly but he knew it was me.
My voice alone gave it out, and then the Pheromones I was subconsciously letting out due to worry.
"Ah, the bunny came back." He said, his lips curved in a smirk despite how wrecked he looked. "Did you have fun?"
"Just stop talking nonsense," I said and turned to Cha Hyun-woo.
Seo-Jun was trying to act strong even when he was in such a situation. As expected, he was the type who didn't like to be caught unfresh during a shoot. Really.
Even when he was sick and haggard, he still tried to seem cool, and it was working, but he was way over his head.
"What's wrong with him, doc?" I asked.
"A fever." Cha Hyun-woo simply answered but that didn't explain shit.
"Yes, yes, it's a fever. It's so clear. Now tell me something I don't know." My words were sharp, and the simplicity he remembered me having had disappeared, which caused him to pause for a minute.
Ah, he probably doesn't know of this new version of me but he has to get used to it. I live like an equal in this house now.
"I'm sorry if you think I was just being blunt but it's as I said, he has a fever," Hyun-woo said, looking a little flustered. "We checked everything, but nothing else is wrong, and the fever keeps rising despite the amount of antibiotics we've used. We've also given him IV fluids because he keeps sweating and is dehydrated but nothing seems to be working."
I clicked my tongue.
A high fever was giving this world's technology a run for its money. How was I supposed to believe that?
"Since we can't find any other problems and nothing seems to be working, we plan to run a more extensive test so we're thinking of taking him to the hospital."
Ah, I didn't like the sound of that.
There was only one reason why a person would have such an unexplainable high fever.
"Well, is he..." I hesitated a bit. "... Is he having his rut?" I asked but it looked like they had already considered that.
"No, he's not." Cha Hyun-woo answered.
"How are you so sure?" I asked, as if the doctor didn't know what he was doing.
"Well, first, he doesn't have an erection. Two, he's not giving off Pheromones. So, it's clearly not a rut."
Hm, good point.
But then what?
I stared at Seo-Jun worriedly.
"Hey, don't look at me like... Urk... I'm going to die?"
Even talking seems to be hard for him yet he was trying to act like he was taking this like a champ.
I clicked my tongue and nearly hit him with his pillow. After all, he was having a high fever and didn't get his body crushed by a truck.
"Just stop talking and let me think," I said and thought intensively.
If none of the advanced stuff works then... Why don't we go old school?
"Is anyone there?" I called out and May walked in, bowing her head. "Get me a bowl of cold water and a towel."
"What are you doing?" Cha Hyun-woo asked as I took off my coat and started unbuttoning my waistcoat.
"What does it look like I'm planning to do? I'm gonna take care of him." I said and he watched him with expressions mixed with confusion and concern.
The other doctors present were whispering and it got on my nerves.
I don't know why, but their not-so-helpful presence was making me irritated.
"If you wanna gossip, I'll have you know that the hallway is wide enough, thank you very much," I said and then turned to Cha Hyun-woo, stretching my arm towards him.
"Wha—?"
"Stop staring and just help me fold up my sleeve," I said with a tone of command that his words got caught in his throat for a moment, and he forgot how to respond.
