Transmigrating as an Extra, But the Heroine Has Regressed?!

Chapter 208: A good plan is a good food.

"Shut the fuck up, all of you!" Jin suddenly shouted.

Everyone froze mid-argument, startled by his rare outburst.

"This is not the time to fight," he hissed, pointing toward the village.

"Look… there."

The group turned toward the darkened cluster of houses.

BOOOOM!

A deafening explosion shattered the silence. A shockwave of dust and smoke erupted from the heart of the village, shaking the ground beneath their feet.

Roof tiles flew into the air, scattering like deadly shrapnel.

"What the—!" Seraphina staggered back, shielding her face from the sudden blast of wind.

Through the rising smoke and collapsing houses, a massive shadow emerged.

Thud.

Thud.

Then it appeared, a giant demon, nearly three times the height of a man. Its skin was dark and cracked like scorched stone, glowing faintly with red veins of molten heat.

The creature lifted a screaming villager into the air and bit down with a sickening crunch.

"AAAHHHHHHH!" Alina screamed, her voice breaking in pure terror. She stumbled backward, clutching her staff, her knees trembling violently.

The demon's glowing eyes swept toward the students, a low growl rumbling from deep in its chest and it had already sensed fresh prey.

Nobody moved.

Jin swallowed hard, gripping his weapon tighter.

"…Everyone," he said, "get ready. This… this isn't a normal beast."

"That's not a beast. It is a demon", said Kael.

"Demon? What the hell is the demon doing here?"

"By the stars… it's worse than I imagined." Seraphina said.

(no way… did the devil contractor send them?) Kael thought.

"We will split into pairs. Search every house, but stay within shouting distance. If you find anything—villagers or attackers—signal immediately."

Everyone nodded. Elysia quickly assigned the groups:

Elysia and Kael

Seraphina and Jin

Alina and Selene

"Check carefully," Elysia added. "And don't engage if you encounter prisoners. Call for backup first."

Elysia's eyes look across the burning village.

Houses collapsed in the distance, and the cries of terrified villagers cut through the chaos. She tightened her grip on her sword and turned sharply to the team.

"Listen carefully, everyone!" her voice rang out.

"We don't have much time."

She pointed toward the half-broken wooden bridge that stretched over a narrow river at the far end of the village.

"That bridge is our escape route. If it falls, we're finished."

Her gaze locked on Edwin first. "Edwin, your job is to hold those demons back. Keep them away from the villagers and buy us time."

Edwin snapped his fist to his chest and gave a sharp salute.

"Haapp! Understood!" Edwin said.

"Alina," Elysia continued, turning to the young healer, "you focus on healing the villagers. No matter what, keep them alive. Selene,".

"Your job is to protect Alina. Don't let anything get close to her while she heals."

Selene nodded quickly"Got it. I'll cover her from every angle."

"But… What about me?" Isolde asked.

Elysia pointed back at the bridge. "Your job is to guard the bridge. Don't let anyone—beast or prisoner—destroy it. That bridge is our lifeline. Hold it no matter what."

Isolde swallowed hard but nodded. "Understood. I won't let anything cross."

Elysia took a deep breath, scanning the team one last time.

"Once we gather all the villagers and get them across that bridge… then we begin our rampage."

The word "rampage" sent a spark through the group.

"Haiii!" they shouted in unison.

Back at the Academy Office

The usually quiet academy office was filled with hurried footsteps and worried whispers. Papers rustled on the long wooden tables as a faint blue glow lit up the room.

A senior professor held a talisman in his hand. The thin piece of parchment vibrated softly, glowing brighter with every passing second.

"Confirmed… the rescue location has been detected," he said in a low voice when no one was around.

He pressed his fingers together and activated the talisman. A flash of silver light shot upward, carrying the emergency message to the surrounding patrols and defense teams of demons whereabout.

The spell raced away like a streak of lightning.

Inside the talisman.

BLACKSTONE PLAZZA. THE FIRST YEAR RESCUE TEAM HAS BEEN DISPATCHED.

ONLY EIGHT OF THEM ARE THERE. NOW IS YOUR CHANCE!

The office door creaked open, and then footsteps echoed across the polished floor.

Professor Kalden stepped inside. His sharp eyes immediately caught a flicker of movement near the desk.

He narrowed his gaze.

"What are you doing?" Kalden said in a suspicious voice.

The professor froze for a heartbeat, then quickly turned around with a nervous smile.

In his hand was a crumpled sheet of paper.

"Ah—Professor Kalden!" I was just throwing some old notes in the dustbin," he said, forcing a casual tone.

Kalden raised an eyebrow. "Old notes?"

"Yeah,". "They were just… unwanted mana history lectures. You know, the boring stuff. I don't really need them anymore."

Then the professor let out a short chuckle and leaned against the edge of the desk.

"Oh, mana history," Kalden said.

"I can't say I blame you. Most students despise it. Endless dates, ancient treaties, forgotten wars… it's not exactly exciting compared to throwing fireballs or summoning shields, is it?"

He gave an awkward agreement.

"Exactly! I mean, who needs to know about stuff that happened hundreds of years ago?"

Kalden crossed his arms and tilted his head.

"That's what many of my students say. But here's the thing—mana history isn't just dusty old scrolls. It's the story of how we even have magic today. Without understanding the past, it's easy to repeat the same mistakes."

"Mistakes? Like what?"

"Thousands of years ago," he said, "mana wasn't something humans could freely control. Back then, it was wild—like a raging storm. Only the strongest of spirit beasts could naturally wield it. Humans, on the other hand, had to rely on crude rituals and dangerous sacrifices just to borrow a fraction of that power."

"Kaldan will you stop now", he said in a bored voice.

But Kalden didn't listen as he continued to explain.

"It wasn't until the Era of the First Awakening, about twelve centuries ago, that the first recorded human successfully bonded with the world's ley lines. His name was Arven Solhart. He discovered that mana isn't just energy—it's a living network that connects every creature, every tree, every stone."

"The ley lines are like rivers of raw energy flowing beneath the land. Arven's discovery allowed humans to tap into those streams safely. But not everyone was happy about it. Kingdoms rose and fell trying to control mana-rich territories. Entire wars were fought for access to ley nodes."

He walked toward the window.

"That's why we have the modern ranking system—Class E to SS. It was created to prevent another Mana War by identifying and regulating those with great potential. History reminds us that unchecked power leads to destruction. Without those lessons, we might still be living in fear of our own magic."
