Chapter 208 Bad People?
'Oh no, they have caught up so quickly.'
I dragged my body behind a tree, my heart pounded in my ears like a war drum.
"White, where are you going?" I yelled in a hushed voice, when he suddenly walked up to the two men.
"Come back!"
He stopped in his tracks and turned his head. His silvery grey eyes were calm with a glint of pain dancing in their depths.
Before I could say anything, he blurred through the forest… leaving me alone.
He left me, even when he knew that we were still in danger. 'No, White will never leave me. Maybe he is trying to lead them away like before… it just didn't work this time around.'
I swallowed the urge to call him back. I rested my back on the tree, trying to catch my breath. Every second felt like an eternity.
I panicked when their footsteps approached closer, the twigs snapped under their boots.
'You can't just wait here for them to catch you. Do something, anything.' My eyes scanned the forest floor, landing on a medium-sized rock.
I reached for it, and my teeth dug into my lower lip to suppress the urge to cry. The pain radiating my ankle hurts like hell.
After retrieving the rock, I held it close to my chest like my life depended on it. 'White… did you really abandon me?'
'I had told him to run away earlier for his own safety, but he saved me. If he decides to go now, I should be happy about it right? At least he is safe. But why do I feel like my heart has shattered like a glass?'
'This is not the time to think about that… think of how you can come out of this stinky situation.'
'What should I do with the rock? If I decide to attack them, there are only two of them, which will render my effort useless as I can not fight. Will diversion work?'
I closed my eyes, muttering prayers. I threw the rock to the opposite side… they stopped midway.
My heart hammered in anticipation. However, it plummeted to my stomach when I heard their footsteps approaching my hiding spot.
I dragged myself to my feet, I turned to run, but before I could take a step, a hand held me by my hood.
"Prin…" Before the man could finish his words, I spun around, my fist connecting to his face.
The other man gasped with wide eyes, before he burst out in laughter.
Hearing his laugh. 'Are they crazy?' I raise my head to look at them. I gasped, staring wide-eyed with Mr. Four eyes, I turned to see who the man was that was laughing, and behold it was Mr. Green eyes.
Mr.Four eyes grip tightened around my cloth, his jaw clenched. He looked like he was about to explode any second from then on.
"It's been a while." I smiled sheepishly at him.
Mr. Green eyes, pushed back his glasses with his other hand. "You dared to hit me in the face? Do you have a death wish?"
I swear I heard him growl. My spine straightened, and I laughed nervously. "It was instinct. Why did you creep up on me like a bad person?"
Mr. Green eyes walked closer to me, his eyes creasing into a smile. "And how do you know we are not bad people?"
My words got stuck in my throat. 'He is just trying to scare you.' I chanted like a spell.
"Where is Damon?" I asked, my eyes wandering behind them, but he wasn't there.
Mr. Green eyes brushed back his golden blonde hair. "Poor move…" he sighed dramatically. "There is no one to save you now."
Mr. Four eyes narrowed his eyes at me. "I'll chop your hand for touching my precious face." He said coldly and slowly, and I felt shivers running down my spine.
"Princess! Princess! I'm coming to save you."
Golden's voice rang from behind me, then flew to Mr. Four eyes's face. "Let go of her, you evil man. Let go this instant."
Mr. Four eyes raised his hand, second from swatting the butterfly away. My hands instinctively flew up, holding his wrist. "The butterfly belongs to me… If you harm Golden, I'll break… your glasses… and torture you to death."
"You won't dare…"
"Try me." I hardened my eyes, glaring at him so hard that he would have died if looks could kill.
Mr. Green eyes chuckled, resting his back leisurely on the tree. "So feisty." He winked at me.
'What a shameless man! How dare he wink at me?'
"Golden, come back." Hearing my words, Golden flew to my side.
"How did I do princess? I got him in the right spot, didn't I?"
"You did very well, Golden."
'If they are here, does it mean Damon didn't lie about waiting for me? And the guards, where have they gone? Are they here to protect me? But where is Damon?'
"Let go of me Mr. Four eyes!"
"What did you say? Repeat it if you dare." His eyes narrowed dangerously at me.
"Mr. Four eyes." I glared at him, tilting my chin up. "I repeated it, What can you do about it, huh?"
Mr. Green eyes muttered. "Always drama."
"She punched me in the face! This skeleton!" He flared up.
I felt something snap inside me. "Did you just call me a skeleton? You haven't learned your manners the last time."
"Manners? You don't have one either. Were you not the one who started calling names?" He pushed back his glass again.
Snap.
The sound of the twigs snapping made my heart heavy again. 'Have they finally caught up with us?'
We turned in the direction the sound came from.
A tall figure stepped out from between the trees, striding towards us like he owned the forest. His raven dark hair was tousled, his expression unreadable… and those black eyes locked on mine.
"Damon…" I whispered, letting go of Mr. Four eyes' hand.
