Chapter 82: Yandere Waifu Remi?
In one of the rooms in the concubine building within Koul's palace, Remi is seated in front of a mirror.
Her hair poured down her face, and her eyes were dull with no color. Her face was dark with anger.
In her right hand was a knife. She dug it into the vanity table in front of her mirror, and scratched heavily.
From the door, Delma's relentless voice sounded alongside the repeated knocks.
Knock! Knock!
"Remi," she called. "Are you there?"
Despite her voice sounding through the room clearly, Remi didn't budge. She didn't even blink.
Her eyes remained zeroed into her haggard reflection on the mirror.
"He cancelled it?" She mumbled angrily.
Among Koul's wives, Remi was among the minority that were a talented. Even if her ability wasn't an attack type and wouldn't serve much help, she took pride in it.
After all, it was the ability that had always helped her remain updated with everything that went on in the palace.
And to compensate for it, she had great combat skills.
Unlike most of Koul's wives who were forced into the marriage, she was willingly handed over by her own family as a debt repayment.
While most pitied and saw her situation as unfortunate, she thought differently.
Why was that?
Remi had always had eyes for Koul, long before he even ascended the throne. She was a mere subject among few who had always been interested in Koul's seemingly cursed life.
When she was handed over, she thought that God himself had blessed her.
But things weren't as easy as she had thought.
After coming to the palace and finalizing their marriage, Koul never once granted her his presence again.
She was dumped in the concubine quarters along his other wives. And what's more, a few months after marrying her, he turned up with a curse that rendered him impotent.
But still, she loved him.
It didn't matter whether he was impotent or a foolish tyrant. As long as he existed, she was okay.
She thought the only thing she needed to work on was getting Koul to look at her. To see her as a wife and build a bond between them.
But that itself was still hard.
However, after he returned from seclusion, who would've thought he came out cured?
Although she was confused how that came about since she always watched him while he was in seclusion, she concluded it must've been the few times she wasn't watching him.
After he came out of seclusion, things actually started going a bit better. He even called on his god of a wife to help bring her back to life.
If that wasn't love, Remi didn't see what else could describe that.
She was happy.
But who would've guessed while she wasn't watching, his other wives got close to him and even got into his bed?
She was furious. She really wanted to just make them who had gotten into his bed vanish. But she needed to keep her appearance.
Because what if Koul ended up hating her?
So she quietly watched. She maintained patience. Even while Koul slept with her closest friend Delma, she remained calm.
Instead, she went to him that night after he slept with Delma, hoping he could also embrace her. But Koul turned her away coldly.
She was disheartened, sad that her body might not be enticing enough.
However, she didn't care. Whether or not she was his type, Remi saw herself as his wife and him as her husband.
He's hers regardless of anything.
While he told Hera about his plan to enroll in the academy, he didn't tell anyone else. Remi felt jealous, but as always, she simply watched and maintained her calm.
She would've still been maintaining this calm if Koul hadn't cancelled her ability to keep watch over him.
She had been watching him since he left Munrhal to the capital, and even when he met his new family.
But all of a sudden, after the last night's dinner Koul had with his new family, her watching veil suddenly disappeared.
Now she's left unable to watch Koul. Unable to monitor his every move.
What if he got entangled with other women?
She wasn't going to allow that.
"Should I just go to the capital to kidnap him and lock him up?"
Her eyes were unmoving as she said this. Not a single hint of unseriousness. She was dead set on it.
_ _ _ _ _ _
Back at the academy, Koul exhaled aloud. He calmly stepped forward with the other students and mounted the platform.
As soon as he got on, a deafening echo of gasps rippled through the hall.
Everyone was shocked, including the teachers.
While the other student's platform had shone either green or red, Koul's platform showed black.
They didn't think they'd actually be seeing a student with no possibility of awakening any talent.
Koul sighed calmly, unbothered. He had already guessed the possibility of this outcome.
He stepped down from the platform, mindless of the countless eyes and murmurs that followed him as he walked back.
"You weren't wrong when you said he'd be a failure to get adopted into that family."
"I'm shocked."
"Can't believe we got to see something like this."
"This hasn't happened for years."
"Why did he even come? So shameless."
"What a waste of resources."
This reaction isn't surprising at all. The reason they are all surprised is because, even though the academy accepts non talented students and train them to become full fledged knights or whatever they dream of, no one actually has the balls to come.
They feel too ashamed to come here knowing fully well they would be bullied or shamed for their inability to awaken.
Pretty sure I might be the only student who isn't a talented in this academy. But who knows?
There might be someone as bold in the other halls.
"P-please get your corresponding tag," the teacher told Koul.
Quietly, he turned and walked over to the tables of the seniors and stood before the table handing out the black brooch.
The female senior student in charge of this was still too taken aback to act when Koul came before her. She didn't really think anyone would be getting it and was still surprised.
"My tag please," Koul said.
"Ah..y-yes. Here."
Koul took it, and bowed slightly.
"Thank you."
He said and turned away casually from the stagnant eyes fixated on him.
As he walked back, his eyes caught a flicker of movement that drew his attention.
He snapped his gaze toward the exit of the hall and just in time, sighted a shiny blond hair flowing behind softly as the person left.
The silhouette of the person was familiar.
Koul's eyes widened in shock.
Hera?!
But after a moment, he chuckled softly.
How could it be? I miss them so much, I'm starting to imagine them.
After the evaluation, everyone grabbed a timetable of their class schedules and name tag that included their various classes.
Then they went there.
The classroom was also wide and spacious. The seats were in rows and were arranged in mounting tiers.
Koul's seat was at the very back. And he liked it because it hid him away from the countless judging eyes.
The class was a bit noisy as there was no teacher. But after a while, the classroom door slid open and in came the professor.
Everyone's eyes bulged out at the radiant beauty in front of them. Everyone's eyes, including Koul's.
Wait guys, no, really. I don't have any history of eye defect or anything like that. And I'm sure as hell I ain't dreaming or imagining things this time!
Because tell me why Hera would be standing in front of the class with glasses on as a professor right now.
