Nezumi clung desperately to his last shred of hope, his voice shrill with panic. "That's right! That's right! I'm a Navy Captain—you can't do this to me! I swear, I wasn't running away on purpose! I was out on patrol that day!" He wailed, his words tumbling over each other as he pleaded for mercy.

Jack let out a cold laugh. "Do you really think I would accuse you without proof?" His gaze darkened as he took a step forward. "Your collusion with pirates has already been reported to headquarters. You've been officially expelled from the navy, and your subordinates have confessed everything. The truth is, long before Kreig's men set foot on Phili Island, you spotted their fleet. But instead of standing your ground, you let your cowardice rule you. You took every single naval warship from your branch and fled under the guise of a patrol mission."

Jack's voice grew harsher, his anger barely restrained. "If you had stationed your forces on the island that day—if you had even tried—then when Smoker arrived, he would have had reinforcements. The sacrifices we made wouldn't have been necessary! Everything that happened—every life lost—is because of you!"

The villagers, who had been hesitant before, fell silent. Their anger swelled, but this time, it was directed solely at the trembling man before them.

Only the mayor's granddaughter hesitated, parting her lips as if to speak but stopping herself.

Jack turned to the crowd, his voice unwavering. "You don't need to worry. I am a Captain of the Navy Headquarters. Even if I have to risk my position, I will avenge the mayor. If I can't even protect the people I care about, how can I protect anyone else? How can the name of justice in the navy mean anything if men like this are allowed to walk free?"

His words rang through the square, firm and resolute.

Gem let out a weary sigh. "Jack, we understand what you mean, but let the Navy handle this properly. He may have violated their laws, but in the end, this is their responsibility."

Though the villagers were reluctant, they slowly nodded in agreement.

Jack smiled faintly and inclined his head. "Well, in that case…"

Without another word, his blade flashed through the air. In the stunned silence that followed, Nezumi's severed head tumbled to the ground, and blood splattered across the tombstone once more.

"Jack, you—!" Uncle Gem gasped in shock.

Jack's expression remained unreadable as he sheathed his sword. "Uncle, I told you before—this matter was entrusted to me entirely. And this man deserved to die." His voice was steady, resolute.

The town, once a refuge for survivors, held a solemn memorial ceremony in the days that followed. It was only then that Jack learned the full extent of Kreig's atrocities—three of the five looted towns taking refuge there had fallen to his crew. In light of this, the villagers came together to honor the memory of those they had lost.

Jack remained on the island for several days, sharing stories of his experiences at Navy Headquarters and reconnecting with the people he considered family.

**Few Days Later**

In a cozy cottage by the sea, two figures could be seen tumbling on a bed under the sheets. After a few minutes, the two emerged and could be seen as Alice and Jack cuddling each other.

"Good morning, gorgeous..." he started playing with her blonde hair, looking into her eyes.

"Good morning, yourself…"

Alice's face looked like she was having an internal debate on what to say.

Last night, after a few drinks at the bar, they had ended up back at Jack's place.

After the initial resentment of Jack wore off, when he had executed the cause for her grandfather's death. Both had hit it off nicely, and she found herself laughing and enjoying his company more than she had expected. The thing was she already had a boyfriend in Loguetown, and now she was in a dilemma.

Observing Alice and knowing a bit of her background, Jack immediately understood her thoughts and gave her an easy out.

"I'll be leaving in three days for Loguetown, and from there I'll be traveling to the Grand Line. As you know, I'll be working most of the time there or in the New World."

Alice didn't say anything; she just nodded and gave a tight-lipped smile, trying to hide her true feelings about the situation. She put her head on top of Jack's chest and closed her eyes, hoping that everything would work out in the end.

The days and nights after that were one of the happiest in Jack's new life. In the end, they parted ways cordially. Jack knew that he would always cherish the memories of their time together.

After all, as the saying goes, "Home is not just a place—it is the people who make it one."

This town was named Hishiren Town, meaning the place of rebirth by fire. As a token of gratitude, the villagers set aside a small courtyard for Jack—his new home.

It was then that Jack truly understood why Vice Admiral Garp took leave every year to return to the East Blue. There was something irreplaceable about home. And just like Garp, Jack decided that, as long as he wasn't too busy, he would make time to return every year.

When he arrived in Loguetown, Smoker greeted him with shocking news.

"Vice Admiral Garp had left straight back to Navy Headquarters a few days ago. He did not port here."

Jack's face twisted in frustration. "That senile old man forgot about me?! How the hell am I supposed to get back now? Damn it!" he growled through gritted teeth.

Far out at sea, aboard a navy vessel, Garp sneezed suddenly and pulled his coat tighter around himself. "Hah~ Must be getting old… My body isn't what it used to be," he muttered to himself.

Standing nearby, Coby and Helmeppo exchanged glances. They stared at Garp—who still looked as strong as an ox—and found it impossible to believe that age had anything to do with it.

Beside them, Bogard, accompanying Garp, hesitated, then swallowed back the truth about Jack. He had only realized they left Jack behind after passing Loguetown. But by then, turning back would have been too much trouble.

'Ah, well… Jack can find his own way back,' he thought, shrugging. With his skills, getting to headquarters wouldn't be a problem.

"So, what now? Will you lend me a warship so I can get back to headquarters?" Jack cast a hopeful glance at Smoker's vessel. Since he had come from headquarters, he was confident he could navigate through the weather without issue.

Smoker took a long drag from his cigar before exhaling slowly. "Not a chance. Yeah, you caught a lot of pirates in the East Blue this time, but the situation with the 16th Branch ruffled some feathers at the top. If you head back now, you're likely to get chewed out. Maybe Garp left you behind on purpose—to shield you from the higher-ups."

"That's bullsh*t!" Jack snapped. "That senile old man definitely just forgot about me! When I left, he was too busy stuffing his face with donuts. He's probably napping right now!"

Smoker smirked. "Then I guess you're out of luck. Unless…" He exhaled another puff of smoke. "You could go through Reverse Mountain into the Grand Line, then make your way to headquarters from there. If that's your choice, I'll even give you back the sailboat I lent you before." His grin turned mischievous.

Jack scowled. "Are you kidding me? Do you know how long that would take? Not to mention the sea is crawling with pirates. What if I run into some I can't handle and get killed?"

Still, he rubbed his chin thoughtfully. The first half of the Grand Line was full of pirates—not as insanely strong as the ones in the New World, but still plenty of decent fighters. It would be the perfect place to replenish his dwindling stock of diamonds.

This time, he had the perfect excuse—it wasn't that he didn't want to return; he had been abandoned by Garp and had no way back!

"Tsk~ Once you reach the Grand Line, any branch can arrange transport for you, right? Or..." Smoker exhaled a thick ring of smoke, smirking. "Maybe you don't want to go back at all and would rather stay here? That works too. I'm still short on an adjutant—I could just hand the position to you!"

But Jack wasn't paying the slightest attention. He was busy checking his diamond count and evaluating the feasibility of his latest idea.

"13,490." That was his current total. He had started with 9,000, then gained 1,700 for defeating Kreig, and an unexpected 2,790 when he executed Nezumi.

For the longest time, he couldn't figure out why Nezumi had been worth so many diamonds—until it hit him. Nezumi had embezzled 93 million berries from Nami. He had even claimed that he could pocket 30% of the amount, which came out to 27.9 million Berries.

Even though Jack had already returned the stolen money to Nami, who then distributed it to the villagers of Cocoyasi Village, the system had still rewarded him with diamonds after eliminating Nezumi.

'Let's see what I can buy!' Without a second thought, Jack walked out of Smoker's office, scrolling through the store in his system. As for whatever Smoker had just said—he hadn't heard a word of it.

"You bastard! How dare you ignore me like this? You'll regret it! I've already reclaimed the sailboat, and I won't give you so much as a plank. If you want to return to headquarters, you'd better start swimming!" Smoker roared, watching Jack walk away in disbelief. Moments later, his roar echoed across the naval base, startling the marines in training.

Meanwhile, Jack had returned to his hotel room, sighing as he closed the store. "Ugh, advanced skill manuals are ridiculously overpriced. Damn pay-to-win mechanics!"

Unlike staying at the naval base, living in a hotel gave him more freedom to move around unnoticed. But no matter where he was, the problem remained the same—he simply couldn't afford the powerful techniques in the store, and the ones within his budget didn't interest him. Even the ten-pull lottery was starting to feel like a waste of time.

Analyzing his current shortcomings, Jack realized that while training in Chakra was essential, skill points could greatly accelerate his progress in Chakra training. However, he had deliberately kept five skill points in reserve, just in case. That was one of the main reasons why it was still stuck at the first level.

When it came to attribute points, Jack was even more lacking. Over the past two years, he had prioritized building raw strength to master Haki, allocating nearly all his attribute points to strength. As a result, his chakra lagged behind, making it impossible to train chakra control regularly—a frustrating waste of potential.

Speed and agility had also become weak points in his combat style. Fortunately, he had Sorue and Geppo from the Navy's Six Styles, which provided a temporary solution to his lack of agility.

Resisting the temptation to do a ten-pull in the system's lottery, Jack decided to focus on reaching level 20 first. Completing the third main quest might trigger a system update—after all, wasn't that how the lottery and ten-pull features had appeared in the first place?

After resting in Loguetown for a few days, Jack prepared to set sail for the Grand Line. With a vast number of pirates whose strength was formidable but not overwhelmingly so, it was the perfect hunting ground to gain combat experience and accumulate diamond resources.

In a dimly lit bar, Smoker took a sip of beer and glanced at Jack. "So, you've made up your mind? You're really heading to the Grand Line?"

Jack smirked, swirling his drink before downing it in one gulp. "Yeah. If I go back now, all I'll get is a bunch of nagging. Might as well take the Grand Line, catch more pirates, and shut them up with results."

"Suit yourself," Smoker muttered, exhaling a cloud of smoke. "I'll probably be heading back soon, anyway. Most of the big-name pirates around here are already dead—no point sticking around."

He lit two cigars at once, placing them between his lips as he spoke.

Jack smirked. "Oh? No new pirates with bounties higher than the last onones arehowing up in the East Blue?"

Smoker shot him a sharp look before slamming a bounty poster onto the table.

"Isn't that your doing?" he asked dryly.

Jack picked up the wanted poster, his grin widening as he recognized the face.

This bounty had been issued by Navy Headquarters just a few days ago. The photo was familiar, but the name printed on it wasn't Nezumi—it was Monkey D. Luffy.

Smoker still couldn't quite figure it out. His subordinates had reported that Jack seemed to have an unusual connection with Luffy, yet Jack still reported him. Smoker didn't peg him as the type of marine to be so by-the-book.

Jack shrugged. "Relax. He's heading to the Grand Line. By then, there won't be any pirates in the East Blue worth more than a few million."

Meanwhile, Luffy's bounty was already making waves. Though most dismissed it as insignificant, in the eyes of certain individuals, it was anything but.

**In the New World, on a secluded island**

A group of pirates tensed as a lone figure approached, the unmistakable glint of a massive black sword slung across his back.

"Hawkeye? What is he doing here?" One of them asked, eyes filled with wary surprise.
