Transmigrated as the Betrothed of the Yandere Villain

Ch. 163

Chapter 163

The airport remained bustling even in the early hours of the morning.

Zhong Ning rested for a while in the VIP lounge, had a late-night snack, and fed a bit to Pine Mushroom as well. Before boarding, she also took it to the bathroom.

Most people on a pet-friendly flight either brought their own pets or simply adored furry creatures. Seeing Pine Mushroom, so pretty and lively, everyone couldn't help but take a few more glances. The more outgoing ones even came over to ask if they could pet it.

Every time, Zhong Ning would look at Pine Mushroom, letting it decide for itself.

The first-class cabin was spacious. Once the small door was pulled shut, it became a private space. Zhong Ning put earmuffs on Pine Mushroom and leaned by the window, looking out at the dark night and the flashing lights along the runway.

Suddenly, a tremor and the roaring sound of the engines erupted. The plane began to move, accelerating, and finally lifted off, leaving the ground behind.

Leaving Fengcheng.

Chapter 60

The night view of Fengcheng looked like a glittering glazed landscape. Neon lights painted the city in dazzling colors, like a surreal illusion that only existed in dreams. The two tall Twin Spiral Towers shot straight into the sky, radiating brilliant light—buildings that seemed to belong in another world entirely.

Zhong Ning gazed at the scene below as if enchanted, staring blankly at the view. As the plane climbed higher and higher, Fengcheng gradually shrank into a tiny dot, swallowed by the night.

She had already informed the flight attendants in advance that she didn’t need them to proactively provide service. If she needed anything, she would ask. It was already past midnight, time for rest.

The plane would land at 8:30 the next morning—just enough time to get some sleep.

But Zhong Ning lay on the small bed, hugging Pine Mushroom, and couldn’t fall asleep.

She couldn’t sleep.

Was this considered a form of escape?

Because she didn’t want to face it, she chose not to communicate, not to talk, and simply left.

Zhong Ning let out a faint sigh, resting her chin on Pine Mushroom’s fluffy head and hugging its warm little body tightly.

Even if this was escape, even if it was cowardice, she accepted it.

When the virtues one was supposed to uphold clashed with her personal feelings, she chose the latter. Besides, it wasn’t illegal—couldn’t a person think more about themselves?

She truly didn’t want to hear it, didn’t want to talk about it anymore.

Xie Shiqing would definitely apologize, cry her heart out, and say how hard it had been for her, how many hidden struggles she had faced. That person’s tongue was too sharp—Zhong Ning was genuinely afraid that if she listened, she would soften her heart on the spot.

But to feel pity for someone who had hurt her—wasn’t that a betrayal of herself?

She had eight figures in her bank account, a large portion of which came from Zhong Lin. That money, Zhong Ning accepted without guilt.

In the eyes of the wealthy, this amount of money probably meant nothing—just pocket change. But for Zhong Ning, it was enough to live a comfortable, worry-free life without ever needing to work again.

So why not travel more? See more of the world, walk further, and slowly heal her damaged heart.

She wasn’t alone, after all. Pine Mushroom was still with her.

Zhong Ning hadn’t taken or brought anything with her—she had abandoned everything from the past, severed all ties—but she truly couldn’t bear to leave Pine Mushroom behind.

The little dog was warm, like a small furnace. Just hugging it seemed enough to chase away all the cold.

Listening to the plane's steady rumble, she slowly drifted off to sleep.

Around six o'clock, she was woken by a gentle lick. Pine Mushroom let out a very soft whimper—it needed to go to the bathroom.

Amazingly, she had slept very soundly. There were no dreams at all, and she woke with an inexplicable sense of relief.

It was almost a kind of philosophical calm, as though her entire being had transcended something.

Zhong Ning sat up with a faint smile. Even though she’d only slept a few hours, she felt incredibly refreshed. She gently rubbed Pine Mushroom’s ears to comfort it, then got up and stretched before pressing the call bell.

Not long after, a dark-skinned flight attendant walked over and knocked on her small door, asking politely and fluently in English about the situation. Then she led Pine Mushroom away.

Zhong Ning washed her face. Her reflection in the mirror looked a little tired, but her eyes were clear.

She patted her cheeks. Pine Mushroom was soon returned by the attendant, who gently asked, "Would you like to have breakfast now?"

Zhong Ning considered for a moment. She wasn’t particularly hungry, but still nodded. In the same fluent English, she asked, "Does it get breakfast too?"

"Yes," the attendant replied. "We have dry food, canned food, and raw meat with bones. Which would you prefer?"

"Raw meat with bones," Zhong Ning said. "But no beef liver—it doesn't eat that."

The flight attendant politely noted that down and asked her to wait a moment.

Pine Mushroom seemed to have had its face wiped as well. Its four paws were slightly damp, probably from a quick cleaning too.

As expected of first class—the level of service was meticulous.

Soon, breakfast was brought over. Hers included a thick soup, steak, and dessert. Pine Mushroom’s meal was a bowl of meat paired with several kinds of vegetables.

The flight attendant helped her set up the meal and pulled out a small table to place Pine Mushroom’s food bowl on.

A while later, she came back to clear away the trays and helped tidy up the bedding. She gently reminded Zhong Ning that the plane would land in half an hour.

In fact, this city had been randomly selected by Zhong Ning from her phone. She had simply looked for a destination with a convenient time and picked it.

But in this world, she hadn’t been anywhere yet. Everywhere was equally new and unfamiliar.

As soon as she got off the plane—without needing to wait for luggage—Zhong Ning passed through customs and immediately searched for a nearby pet hospital. She needed to change Pine Mushroom’s microchip.

The current chip still had Xie Shiqing’s information, allowing her to track the location.

She was probably awake by now. Maybe she had even messaged her?

Zhong Ning didn’t know. She had already deleted every way to contact Xie Shiqing.

The pet hospital required an appointment, but paying extra was always the best way to speed things up. Unfortunately, Pine Mushroom would have to endure a bit of discomfort—the procedure required anesthesia.

It was a minor procedure with only a small incision. It didn’t take long to complete, though the anesthesia still needed some time to wear off.

But no matter what, she had now completely severed the connection—she was free.

Walking out of the pet hospital, she was surrounded by foreign faces. Zhong Ning, holding the dog on a leash, met the bodyguard-slash-tour guide she had hired—a tall, athletic woman with red hair and green eyes. Zhong Ning didn’t consider herself short, yet this woman still stood a full head taller than her.
