Chapter 2: chapter 2 : Assault
There were many questions that arose inside me to which I scarcely had answers. What most caught my attention was what I had in front.
[System notification]
- [Mission]
*Participate in Nova Academy's entrance exam
[Compensation:?]
[Failure: Loss of the system]
A translucent blue window floated in front of me, I took a look at what appears to be a window of missions and read carefully.
Go or escape? That is the question ...
There are many problems in attending, but just as disadvantages also abound opportunities. One of the greatest advantages is that Nova Academy's credential works as a hunter or mercenary license, and that in a world where monsters and danger abound. "It is a gold mine" that allows you to go into dungeons and hunt monsters to increase my statistics, but of course, it is limited to low -level dungeons.
Although it could also be mercenary, but it is not efficient. On the other hand, at no time I thought about leading an ordinary life. Later, the world goes to the devil and it is better to have skills to defend itself than to wait for help that can never come. After clarifying my thoughts, I made a decision.

Magnetic Leviathan, a steel float of elongated and fluid structure with soft and curved edges to reduce wind resistance, floated majestically on the tracks. This masterpiece composed of magical engineering is a very common transport, used in this world to make trips in the shortest possible time. In terms of my previous world, it would be something similar to a Maglev train.
"It's a pity," said the old man in front of me, with his look at the computer. "The efficiency on the beauty of the landscape was preferred, they sacrificed visual harmony for the sake of functional progress."
"Husband, husband!
"Oh, love! When you come on a trip, don't spend all day stuck to that damn screen."
"Bah, don't exaggerate, woman! I'm just taking a look at the news. I will listen to you when we arrive."
The old woman stared at him, with a look as firm as her character. She removed the reading glasses with a quick gesture and, in a determined voice, he said: "Do not continue evading things, old. You will have time for that news, but now you listen to me."
A slight smile looked out in the corner of the old man's mouth, as if he silently accepted that, in her own way, she always managed to have the last word.
I looked puzzled at the quiet couple of the elderly who enjoyed their train trip, with an atmosphere taken directly from a romantic film. For a moment, the concerns escaped from my mind, leaving behind this happy scene.
TRING!
-[Mission]
*Survive
[Compensation: random trait]
With a light and overwhelming notification sound, the [system mission] appeared before me. My heart was beating a thousand per hour. I looked at the mission window with exorbitant eyes: "Survive?" Survive?! Confused, my hands trembled while looking around, trying to understand what was happening. The air was dense, and my mind kept going around, is this a joke? I don't even have been in this world for three days and I'm going to die. Fear again invaded my mind.
The old woman who was arguing with her husband looked at me as if she felt my gaze.
"Excuse me ... young, for what I see seems that you don't feel good. I have some medications in my bag, would you like to take one?"
"Mmm! You can take it, child. Sometimes it is fine to receive some help. What is the use of a young man is more problematic than an old man?"
The old woman smiled warmly and offered me the medication, and the old man, who clearly worried about my health, although she pretended not to do it.
It was a small but selfless act of goodness that softened my heart a little, although seconds later I resumed my composure and stared at the glass bottle.
Perhaps when I noticed my doubt, the old woman stirred her hand gently.
"If you feel uncomfortable, you can reject it. When I was young, I did not accept gifts from strangers."
In silence, I extended my hand.
"Thank you ..." The old woman gently put the bottle on my hand.
Then I slowly analyzed the content of the mission, and my eyes began to become more and more acute, because although at first glance it looks like a simple message, it hides a lot of information. It works as a sensor to detect threats, indicating that something will happen in the next few minutes, in addition to that characteristics can be acquired.
In this way, I will be able to shorten in an instant the route I had thought to survive.
Although playing with my life is a great price, rewards are also very big.
Thum ...!
The train stopped suddenly, causing passengers to start and some even lose their balance. Two strongly armed men, with intimidating covered faces and looks, descended from the adjoining car. Without a word, they pointed their automatic weapons towards the crowd, causing generalized panic.
The screams of fear and despair flooded the place, while some passengers threw themselves to the ground looking for protection. One of the assailants, in a serious and authoritarian voice, approached the old woman sitting near me and grabbed her sharply, placing the cannon of her gun against her temple. "Silence or I'll blow the head!" He shouted, causing the poor woman to tremble terrified.
The silence seized the car, broken only by the drowned sobs of the old woman. Her husband, terrified, remained motionless, with a lost look, without daring to make the slightest movement. Slowly, he tried to approach the assailants, raising his hands as a sign of surrender, and began to babble a few words in an attempt desperate to negotiate.
The mercenary smiled with contempt, looked at the old man with a grimace of disdain and, without a word, squeezed the trigger.
Bang!
A strong rumble shook the car for a moment. In slow chamber, I saw how the elderly's fragile body collapsed to the ground, as if life had escaped at that precise moment. The sound of the impact was drowned by the widespread murmur of the passengers, which, terrified, looked at the scene. His eyes, open with an expression of surprise and fear, began to slowly lose his brightness. At that time, the light vanished from his gaze, and his face, before full of life, became a mask of stillness and silence. The car, which minutes before had been a place of bustle, adorned a sepulchral silence.
