Chapter 450: When You Meet a Ghost, Kill It
Ye Shiqi looked first at the far distance behind the large ship, under the watchful eyes of her leader and his subordinates.
All eyes followed hers to the back of the ship, but they could see nothing in the thick fog.
Ye Shiqi utilized the space to ascertain that their large ship was moving quickly, and the pursuers were not slow either, maintaining a distance of 100 meters—neither far nor near.
Unable to shake off their pursuers, their only option was to quickly eliminate these people before dawn.
Ye Shiqi did not know if her experimental items would work?
As long as she could intimidate the other party, making them smell something different.
Her explosives wouldn't detonate without being lit, so to enhance their effect, she could only throw the item where their flames were.
In these ancient times, besides lanterns, people would use firewood to kindle fires, and those few ships in the foggy night dared not sail without light!
The other party was not using oil lamps; the light from oil lamps was too dim, and they wouldn't be able to easily spot other ships in the fog.
Nor could they track the other ships through the dense fog.
They were using a type of stove fire, fueled by charcoal, which provided better illumination.
Ye Shiqi could even faintly hear the other party whispering.
Listening to them, she started to act, sailing even faster.
This time, whether those people learned their lesson from before or not, they daringly refrained from using arrows.
They wanted to board the ship themselves, following the command from above; without any further leads, they could only capture these people alive for interrogation.
Two groups had been tracking by land and river for two days, and on the waterways, they had not seen General Ye's ship, nor had there been any news on land.
Those above were anxious, thinking that everyone must be here, just that the food and horses had not been loaded on the ship.
Sending people to the border to convey more messages wasn't feasible either.
They even suspected that this group had boarded the ship and let the bodyguards escort the goods, the horse hides, and the carriages, thus escaping their scrutiny.
Unfortunately for these black-clothed men, who had received their orders, they encountered a heavy fog that night.
Seeing that dawn was approaching, they couldn't afford to wait; tracking all night would have been in vain.
After dawn, they would have to report back with any leads or people found within, and they'd be required to capture all of those people.
Knowing the importance of their mission, they only spoke in brief whispers,
Fearing they might startle the people on the ship ahead.
Thinking the other party was unaware of them, they believed they could board the ship silently.
Ye Shiqi, having heard their conversation, instructed her leader to open the box.
"Everyone be on guard. We have thieves behind us, I'm going to blow them up first."
The leader and his crew took Ye Shiqi's words seriously upon hearing how earnest she sounded.
Unsure of what capabilities their little master possessed, but she certainly didn't seem to be joking.
Throwing objects, how could they let the little master do such a thing?
"Little master, let your subordinate take care of it."
"Stop arguing. You've already said that you can only throw ten or twenty meters. I can throw 100 meters, and at 100 meters, there are many small boats. Besides, you can't see them, so how can you hit the small boats? Even if you did hit a boat, it would be of no use. The item must be thrown into the furnace. Do you have the confidence to land it on their stove?"
At this moment, the leader and his subordinates could only shake their heads. They might be able to throw something ten or twenty meters, but how could they be accurate enough in the thick fog to hit the furnace of the other ship?
The little master said there were enemies beyond 100 meters and many small boats, but they couldn't see any of them—it wasn't that they didn't believe there really were enemies.
"Be cautious, they do not have good eyesight, only the little master has keen vision, so we can only listen to the little master."
Ye Shiqi casually picked up a bottle, glanced at the label that read 'chili', and without opening the cap, threw the bottle while using space transmission to send it directly into the largest small boat's stove.
At the moment the bottle dropped into the stove, although it didn't break, the heat of the fire caused the bottle to explode with a bang.
The tiny bottle silently entered the stove amid the dense fog; everyone's attention was focused ahead, completely unprepared for such a tactic.
Upon hearing the sound of the explosion, Ye Shiqi wasted no time and quickly threw all the bottles she had, not bothering to check the labels.
The explosion on the larger boat took everyone by surprise; after the vessel exploded, a spicy scent drifted towards the neighboring boat.
In the explosion, the crew on the fishing boat inevitably got hit, and it was unclear who was alive; they were blown into the sea by the force of the explosion.
"Boss!"
The people on the smaller boats, not understanding why the larger boat exploded, now had no time to think about their task and focused only on rescuing people.
The enemy, having heard the noise, might also be on guard, making their subsequent tasks more difficult.
Just as they were about to dive into the water to save people, a new bottle suddenly appeared on the stove of each of their boats.
The black-clothed men, who were focused on the large fishing boat, missed this detail and also fell for the trap.
"Bang, bang, bang!"
The series of explosions in the distance scared everyone on the boat.
In a rush to take precautions, the boss and crew members all surrounded Ye Shiqi, fearing that the loud explosion might affect the little master.
Ye Shiqi herself was also startled.
She had created these objects based on chemical principles only as an experiment; she had no idea if they would even make a sound, let alone explode.
It's possible that, like firecrackers, they would be loud but not cause much harm to the human body.
Ye Shiqi had already realized that regardless of whether the enemy's people were dead or alive, their boats were destroyed.
Given the speed at which their large boat was moving, even if the people were good swimmers, they wouldn't be able to catch up.
For the time being, they were safe, and all they needed to do was to keep their guards up.
"Alright, you don't have to worry about me. Continue with your duties; for the time being, those people, even if they haven't died, won't be able to attack us," she said.
The crew agreed with Ye Shiqi's words.
The continual explosions, with so many bursts of fire reaching to the sky.
In the fog, they could see the distant fires, with smoke rising blurrily, letting them know that every boat was burning, perhaps with people falling into the river and sea.
They couldn't tell whether the people were dead or alive.
The little master's self-made devices had managed to cause this much chaos to the enemy effortlessly.
This outcome excited them, yet they dared not shout aloud; the enemy did not know what had caused the sudden explosions.
They couldn't let this information slip from their own mouths.
It would endanger their master.
And it would increase the danger for their entire group.
When daylight came and the sun appeared, the fog really began to dissipate slowly.
Ye Shiqi, having received breakfast from the crew, was eating it while still glancing outside through the boat's window.
