Transmigrated as A Farm Girl Making Her Family Rich

Chapter 445 Another Assassin Comes

Ye Shiqi was in the cabin, reading a book; she read all day long.

The book she was reading was a Medical Book, one that Housekeeper Ye had found for her two days earlier, a manual from a renowned physician of the Capital City.

How Housekeeper Ye came to possess it, of course, he had his own sources.

In the physician's manual, various cases were recorded within.

When she expressed her desire to read the Medical Book, Housekeeper Ye felt curious. He wondered just how capable his little master was.

Through connections, looking up acquaintances, Capital City's famous physicians, the Hua Family of imperial physicians, an aristocratic family whose many generations had served in the Imperial Palace, now the present head of the family.

Regarding the manual, these were the booklets copied down by their family over the years for learning purposes.

It wasn't the sole handwritten copy; when General Ye's housekeeper asked for a copy, he thought General Ye was in the border city where the local healers needed these manuals for studying.

Who would have known it would be a young girl wanting to learn from these cases?

Except for personally delivering meals during meal times, the boss didn't dare to eat with the little master but would update her on the situation outside.

Ye Shiqi listened to the leader on the ship, who said there were trackers nearby. However, they merely followed without making a move.

Perhaps they were observing what they were doing, not having seen Housekeeper Ye and the others, nor the goods, assuming they would take on cargo at a certain place, which would be their chance to rob and kill.

Ye Shiqi was mostly concerned about whether it was safe here. If it really wasn't, she would once again take the people into her space.

Once inside the space, they could not kill or harm her!

Come nightfall, the surface of the river was very calm, their boat lit by lanterns, continued its journey.

The crew took turns on watch, making the boat seem very quiet.

Having read for the whole day, Ye Shiqi found the night rather dull; for the sake of quiet, musical instruments were not to be played.

After dinner, no one disturbed her, and someone later brought in water for her to wash her face.

It wasn't feasible to bathe on the ship, and even though it was a somewhat hot night, the cool breeze from the river blew in through the window, mitigating much of the heat.

On her bed, a thin blanket had been arranged for her, following the suggestions of the crew, she washed her face and feet, then closed the door and went to bed.

Once no one disturbed her again, she entered her space, glanced at the people, still asleep, and the horses.

To keep them from waking up in the space and altering their physical condition, she poured some honey water into each person's mouth.

With Space Water mixed with honey water, the housekeeper and guard, the maid, seemed to be awake without sleeping, yet their eyes were open and they would automatically drink water when fed.

The horses likewise, upon smelling the Space Water, drank of their own accord, like cattle.

These people and horses, with the space's good air and having drunk Space Water mixed with honey water, surprisingly did not require food, and their complexions looked rosier than before; the horses appeared more vibrant.

Ye Shiqi watched closely. The space seemed to induce a hypnotic sleep state in them; perhaps it was to prevent them from knowing about the space as their state was of hypnotic sleep. Their eyes were open, yet they could eat and drink.

However, it seemed they didn't need to relieve themselves even after a whole day, maybe because they drank only water and had no food.

Ye Shiqi ensured the air in her space was good, but she couldn't allow the people inside to forgo eating altogether.

Even then, she couldn't move them out to the ship outside; it still wasn't safe.

After busying herself with these tasks, she took a bath in the space and slept on the large bed there.

In the middle of the night, another ship slowly approached.

The crew noticed and everyone began to be on alert, protecting the little master.

They didn't sound any alarms or let the other party know who they were to prevent them from getting close.

As soon as there was any movement from the other side, they would fight back.

Ye Shiqi heard the warning in the space, then observed the condition of the crew on her ship.

They were all preparing for battle, each holding a tool in their hands, be it bows and arrows, swords, or large sabers.

Ye Shiqi looked over to another ship and saw that everyone there was dressed in black clothes and trousers. She wasn't sure if they had dressed specifically for the night, or if they wore these clothes during the day as well.

Their faces were also covered, and each of them was holding a bow and arrow, especially one particular arrow which seemed special, with the arrowhead fitted with a torch.

The intentions of the other side were very clear: they wanted to kill people and burn the ship.

Ye Shiqi was considering whether to collect the incoming arrows into her space, or to collect the people first and then let the ship be destroyed by them.

If the ship were to be destroyed, their subsequent journey would not go smoothly.

She certainly couldn't just emerge from the space in the middle of the river, could she?

She could swim, but that was on the river.

Having one's property destroyed was not as satisfying as letting the offenders taste the bitterness of burning their own ships.

Ye Shiqi thought of an idea that could involve using river water and space to create an ice wall barrier.

She could also use wooden planks stored in the space to materialize outside the space and block the fire arrows in front of the enemy's ship.

Both types of barriers would cause the fire arrows to fall onto the attackers' own ship, setting it ablaze.

Or they might ricochet, injuring those firing the arrows.

Disabled or burned to death!

Ye Shiqi had no time to think of more ideas as the leader of the other side ordered their subordinates to make their move.

She opted for the method of turning river water into ice.

It was a critical moment, just as the other side was about to shoot their arrows, with dozens of people firing simultaneously. They were standing on the deck, so close to the other ship that it was impossible to miss.

No matter how skilled the opposition was, they only had two choices: either jump into the river or get shot dead.

The ship was bound to be destroyed!

Ye Shiqi ordered the space to toss the river water up into a towering wave which, in the blink of an eye, turned into a thick ice wall. Before the people could react, their fire arrows collided with the sudden appearance of the water wall.

Some of the torch arrows were extinguished, and others fell onto their own ship, igniting the bow.

Yet more fire arrows ricocheted back to their owners, and the unlucky ones were injured by the tools they had used themselves, as their own clothes caught fire.

Ye Shiqi looked back at the people on her ship. When they saw the enemy using bows and arrows, one hand grabbed a shield to defend themselves. Knowing they couldn't match the ruthlessness of the enemy's arrows, they changed their weapons of attack, switching to swords.

Seeing that the enemy had already started their assault and preparing to defend, they had guessed that the enemy's rocket arrows were meant not just to burn the ship but to burn them as well.

The leader was knocking on the door, already prepared to make the jump with the little master.

If the little master did not open the door, he could only call out softly, fearing that a loud call might alert the enemy that there was a little master on their ship.

"Report, the enemy's fired arrows have set their own ship and their own people ablaze," someone said.

Hearing this, the leader stopped knocking on the little master's door, thinking they had a savior.

When he went out to see, he discovered that among the bright flames of the night, there were no other ships around the enemy's burning vessel.

There were no other sounds of combat on the ship, only strange screams.
