Transforming Succubus: Almost Doomsday

Chapter 33: Fancy Ways to Seek Death

The previously somewhat deserted "Pioneer Voices" public area suddenly exploded because of Tianxia's phrase "It's unmatched."

"Definitely a Europan, he must have mutated some powerful weapon, right?"

"Probably, even though we now know he's the attendant, the default rule of Blood Hunting Mode is that the Hunter is stronger than the prey. Other than suddenly cheating, I can't think of any other possibility for him to counter-kill the Hunter."

"For a Mutator... if he really does get that Europan luck, it could be just like cheating. But... does he really have that kind of good fortune?"

The discussions about Jiang Xianwu were growing.

It seemed that everyone was inclined to believe that Jiang Xianwu had just lucked out and mutated some kind of treasured item that allowed him to counter-kill the Hunter.

However, the members of Bai Chuan's refuge guild didn't think so.

Novice Angler:

"When our guild leader went through Blood Hunting Mode, sometimes growth and intelligence are also a resource. Stop always thinking people are cheating, okay?"

That statement was indeed true.

In the Blood Hunting Mode, there was another survivor, the guild leader of Bai Chuan's refuge—Guang Tongchen.

But people didn't think Jiang Xianwu was a genius of that level.

Guang Tongchen, however, thought it was quite normal:

"Surpassing opponents, overcoming challenges, and creating miracles... Isn't this the standard for us Bai Chuan folks? These people really make a big fuss over nothing."

Of course, this was said in the Pioneer Voices' guild channel. Otherwise, it would seem too mundane.

And it seemed that a few guild leaders were starting to regret something.

Could it be, that Jiang Xianwu really had a chance to clear the game?

But that thought was quickly dismissed.

Because the difficulty of the Gu Tower wasn't in the Blood Hunt, but in the Gu Tower itself.

...

...

Jiang Xianwu didn't know that he had inadvertently become the focal point for counter-killing the Hunter.

Right now, he was looking for the most critical clues.

In the room across from Ling Hansu on the first floor, there was singing.

Zhou Baiyu speculated that the room might have a "music"-related task.

"Maybe if I enter that room, this music will become deadly. It might turn into painful, lethal music."

"But it seems that these tasks are only curses for the people inside the room. The maze hasn't spread out; even the essay full of the word 'death' didn't affect me after I left the room."

"Listening to this song from outside, I don't feel uncomfortable at all."

The music was a birthday song with a changed tune.

Zhou Baiyu suddenly thought...

of the content mentioned in the essay—

"Dad said there must be a way to make mom better. I believe in Dad. Will he come back tonight? Tonight is my twelfth birthday."

Thinking this, Zhou Baiyu stopped in his tracks and didn't care that the flesh, as if smelling something, began to slowly move towards him.

He just stood at the stairwell, listening intently to the music.

After listening to every tone, he carefully memorized it in his mind.

The song wasn't long.

In about a minute, Zhou Baiyu finished listening, and within that short minute, the Gu Tower had become a bit stranger.

The black lines that could only be seen in version 2.21's buildings were increasing like blood vessels within the walls, emerging one after another.

Zhou Baiyu didn't think too much, he entered another room on the second floor.

The moment he kicked open the door, he saw two infected balls of flesh.

This meant that room B on the second floor housed two people.

"Grandma... save me... I don't want to eat meat anymore..."

"Chenchen... Chenchen... don't... don't be afraid!"

An old and a young voice gradually drowned in the spreading flesh, making the entire room crowded.

Zhou Baiyu quickly found what he was looking for.

On the coffee table, he saw a page of homework.

Without regard for the danger, Zhou Baiyu hurriedly checked it.

He was convinced that there was some information hidden on the homework pages, although not all of it might be useful.

But the homework papers for Chinese, and possibly the art subjects, might provide crucial information.

Through the essay on the Chinese homework, Zhou Baiyu became fairly certain of one thing—

There was a child prodigy here.

He was only a child, but he could already solve many advanced math and physics problems.

```
This might have something to do with his father, surely a great father.
It's just a pity that, according to the attendant's memory—human technology had regressed, and the higher the knowledge, the less useful it became later on.
This child's father might have been highly respected in the past.
But now, he might not even be as good as an ordinary person.
Zhou Baiyu's intuition told him that this child might be the most desperate and the one who hated the world the most.
He already had a rough idea of the route to take.
Even the solution might lie within that essay.
But at the moment, he still needed one key piece of information—
The art assignment.
"Mathematics, chemistry, physics, politics, history... these subjects have significant limitations. Often, the answers to their questions are set in stone."
"But only art and literature are endowed with strong creativity."
"I've already found a lot of information from the literature class, so the next piece of information is very likely related to the art class."
The art assignment was probably a piece of drawing paper; if he could just see the contents of that paper, he might find the last piece of the puzzle to solve the mystery.
Unfortunately, Zhou Baiyu's luck wasn't very good.
"Chemistry assignment..."
Green smoke suddenly burst out from the bizarre assignment paper.
Zhou Baiyu didn't even have time to cry out in pain before his entire body became sticky like melted chocolate... and instantly congealed.
Zhou Baiyu died once again.
The smoke began to spread, and the agonized wails of the old and the young meatballs filled the air.
Twenty seconds later, the assignment paper seemed to no longer sense any living creatures and stopped emitting the strange, highly corrosive smoke.
[The God of Death and Reincarnation's Teasing, progress 3/16. Please die thirteen more times in different ways before the task ends.]
As this information appeared, Zhou Baiyu's liquefied body slowly began to reassemble.
A few seconds later...
He was resurrected once again.
"Damn it!"
Before he had time to catch his breath, the "assignment paper," seemingly detecting life in the room again, spewed out the terrifying green smoke once more, along with the steadily approaching flesh... The scene was horrific.
The flesh continued to spread and was endlessly corroded by the smoke, pus, blood, rotten flesh, wounds... all mixed together, as disgusting as it could get.
Zhou Baiyu's lower leg was eventually touched by the smoke, and in an instant, his leg turned into bloody water.
He lost his balance in an instant.
But Zhou Baiyu was a tough man:
"Damn it, even if I have to die, I can't die in the same way as last time."
Zhou Baiyu, with one leg gone, endured the agony and, using his other leg to crouch and exert force with all the attendant's explosive strength... he charged!
Bang!
A watermelon smashed against the wall, its juices splattering and turning the wall red—Hua Qiang would've declared it sweet.
Although it was very similar to his first death...
The God of Death and Reincarnation's verdict was—death by wall collision in a suicide.
So it was a different method of dying, after all.
[The God of Death and Reincarnation's Teasing, progress 4/16. Please die twelve more times in different ways before the task ends.]
Thirty seconds later, Zhou Baiyu was completely restored.
Without any hesitation, he fled from the room like a mad dog.
"It's too painful. What kind of chemistry are you learning, damn it?"
Death was indeed terrifying, especially being corroded by strong acid.
The saying 'studying is painful' had escalated to both the physical and physiological level.
Although he complained inwardly, Zhou Baiyu didn't stop; he had already started heading toward the third floor.
Zhou Baiyu was still excited.
Apart from the maze that Ling Hansu experienced... the other two pieces of assignment paper had almost instantly killed him.
The death rate here was incredibly high; if he didn't have buff, he would never be able to clear it. With his current wits and strength, there was no way to clear it no matter what.
But this also meant, if he could solve the mystery, the rewards would be exceedingly high.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
The building's eerie vibrations came once more, and Zhou Baiyu guessed... the monster hidden in the basement was the end of everything...
But Zhou Baiyu knew it wasn't time yet:
"I'm still missing a key thing."
