Transforming Succubus: Almost Doomsday

Chapter 206: A Devouring Demon Stronger Than the Demon Emperor

Sudden developments brought Zhou Baiyu's team to a halt.

The island, originally sunlit, had inexplicably darkened, with heavy clouds gathering. Despite the lack of felt breezes, an enormous dark cloud had enshrouded the island without anyone noticing.

These were thunderheads.

"What... what's happening, look at the pebbles on the ground," the Snow Demon exclaimed in shock.

Guang Tongchen furrowed his brows as he observed the sand and stones on the ground trembling. Even though no one felt the earth spin, they could sense the island was shaking.

If some fierce natural disaster were to strike the island, then it's doubtful any of the pioneers could withstand the force of nature.

The dark clouds in the sky boomed with muffled thunder, as if lightning would strike at any moment.

The island's light mist turned a dim gray under the shadowy light.

If one disregarded survivability and only considered the blurred scenery, the previous white fog gave the island a touch of mysticism.

But now, as the thunderous clouds overshadowed the island, the mystical aura seemed to morph into something ominous.

Wu Xin said:

"Everyone's luck will slowly turn sour... if this is a result of pollution, isn't that terrifying? What on earth did he do?"

Wu Xin couldn't imagine how the threads of fate had tangled into this situation.

Zhou Baiyu had no choice but to pause his conversation with Mark.

Despite Mark's repeated insistence that he was no longer the Mark of the past and that he had reached an agreement with himself like a mad scientist under Izanami's influence, becoming a person of ultimate goodness and beauty, Zhou Baiyu only believed him superficially.

The current crisis conveniently distracted him. Mark also seemed to be constrained by time, not always available to talk with Zhou Baiyu.

With a heavy sigh, he obviously felt a bit helpless as Zhou Baiyu didn't seem to trust him entirely.

Isn't everyone an actor in their own right?

Of course, Zhou Baiyu was well aware that if Mark continued to pretend, then Mark was the weaker party, the one in need.

That was an advantage to be utilized wisely.

But for now, he looked up at the thunderclouds and said:

"Normal thunderclouds don't form this easily, we must head towards the center of the island to find the entrance leading into the Sea Emperor's body."

"What's the Sea Emperor? An upgraded version of a sea king who has trodden over numerous ships?" Wu Xin tried to lighten the mood.

However, clearly, Zhang Haoyun didn't find the joke funny and gave Wu Xin a stern look.

This also signaled that Zhang Haoyun was slowly becoming aware of something.

Even though their journey was filled with crises that demanded their full attention, Midel and Zhang Haoyun, as two women with exceptionally keen "sensing" abilities, still sensed something was off.

It was just not something to bring up at the moment.

"The Sea Emperor... wait, are you saying the Sea Emperor is a creature? Could it possibly be the Devouring Demon, the ocean's tyrant?" Midel suddenly suggested.

"The Devouring Demon, yes, there's that possibility..." Zhou Baiyu stroked his chin, pondering.

He did recall Midel saying that the Devouring Demon was the largest of the nine demon races in terms of size. The stronger they were, the larger their form.

Could it really be the Devouring Demon?

"There are a few Demon Emperors with unique titles, like the Blood Emperor, Slayer Emperor, and Flame Emperor, and the Demon Emperor of the Devouring Demons is called the Sea Emperor," Midel continued, her thoughts aligning with that of the Devouring Demon's Demon Emperor.

Even though the Night Demon and the Desire Demon had no Demon Emperor, with only seven amongst the demon race, they typically collaborated with just six.

Because of its immense size, the Devouring Demon's Demon Emperor had long entered the ocean realm, ranking among the giants of the deep sea.

However, Corruption Gu only affected humans, so the corruption didn't reach the creatures of the deep sea.

This made the Devouring Demon's Demon Emperor, upon its sudden arrival in the depths, akin to a god descending into the realm.

Before long, all sea creatures came under the rule of the Sea Emperor, the genuine sovereign of the ocean's depths.

"It seems now, someone has unleashed pollution that's affecting everyone's fate, leading to the island's population triggering some disaster, and this disaster is likely tied to something beneath our feet..." Wu Xin concluded.

Zhou Baiyu agreed with this assessment:

"If it's the Sea Emperor that's causing trouble... in its own domain, the consequences could be unimaginable."

No matter what gods are worshipped or how powerful the creature, facing a being capable of dominating the ocean, against nature's immense power, few could endure.

The thunderclouds in the sky, the tsunami that might erupt beneath their feet...

Even those who worship the God of Strength and Destruction, or the Time and Space God, would struggle to control the might of a berserk deep-sea behemoth.

Midel commented:

"Wait, maybe I oversimplified it."

"What do you mean?"

"I've been thinking more carefully, and maybe the creature beneath our feet truly is the Sea Emperor... the Devouring Demon, but not the Sea Emperor I know."

After a brief pause, Midel added:

"Because, even that lord... should not be so immense, certainly not this gargantuan."

"This island is the size of a city, and even the Devouring Demon's Demon Emperor isn't this enormous."

Zhou Baiyu recalled that a demon king-level Devouring Demon was only about the size of a mountain...

Yet a giant mountain, in comparison to this island, would perhaps only be the size of an eyeball on a giant.

The gap between Emperor and King classes of demons was indeed vast, but not to this extent.
