Transcendent Resurgence: Regressing on an abandoned Earth

Chapter 97: Ymir’s broken Gauntlets

The dragon of war sailed towards the floating planks. It could barely steer towards the correct direction in these chaotic currents.

“Throw me a rope,”

“Here you go,” Kyle jumped up and threw a bundle of rope towards the mast. There was no way the ship could directly approach the wreckage of plants. A minimum distance was needed to make sure the ship wasn’t damaged by anything.

It was a basic knowledge to expect danger when looting a treasure chest. Zyrus wouldn’t make a rookie mistake like that.

*Thuk*Thuk*Thuk*

He tied one end of the rope to the mast and ran to the edge while holding the other. His blood boiled in thrill as he jumped down to swing towards the floating logs.

‘This is exhilarating..’

*Thump*

His smile widened as the sharp winds and slaty water assaulted his face. Lightning reflected in his eyes as he surveyed the surroundings. Sure enough, there were protruding metal spikes just beneath the floating planks.

It was a trap set up to sink any boats that coveted the treasure. Fortunately, there was nothing that targeted a lone individual.

Zyrus tiptoed his way towards the golden glow while making sure to not put too much weight on a single plank.

‘How cruel... if a group walked here, then just one mistake would skewer them all,’

Still, this much was nothing in his eyes. It took him less than a minute to jump down from the ship and reach the treasure’s location.

‘Hope I get something decent,’

Zyrus’s eyes shined with excitement as he spotted a wooden box that was tucked away between two logs. He caressed the moldy surface to find any opening, and soon enough, he found a contraption that unlocked the box.

[Congratulations brave adventurer! You have found a hidden treasure]

[You have obtained Ymir’s broken Gauntlets (Unique)]

[You have obtained Ballista Blueprint x5]

[You have obtained 10 Gold]

[Find more treasures that are scattered on the vast waters, and maybe you’ll receive an unexpected surprise]

“Hahaha..Jackpot,” Zyrus swept the items into his inventory and swam back while holding the rope. Just 10 gold was enough to put many of his plans into actions, not to mention the other two which were even better.

Unique items are just like the name implied, “unique’. Only one of them existed in the sanctuary. Although the gauntlets were broken, Zyrus had enough means to fix them in due time. However, what he valued the most were the ballista blueprints.

Just one of them would fetch a minimum of 100 gold if sold in the player’s market. One had to keep in mind then not even the wealthiest of the player faction had a total wealth of 100 gold. Perhaps only the natives with rich backgrounds could afford such a price.

‘Not to mention I got five of them,’

It meant that he could soon employ five production lines that forged the ballista day and night.

*Splash*

“Got something good?”

“Of course. We can now arm our ships with hundreds of ballistas,” Zyrus grinned as he gave the blueprints to Kyle and the others.

“Sounds great!” Shi kun spoke with enthusiasm as he observed the blueprint.

None of them had a production class, but they understood the gist of it. If they had the supports of the ballista’s arrows, then Nuckelavee would’ve been finished in half the time.

Zyrus let them chatter among themselves and looked at the first reward. A pair of steel-colored gauntlets with icy runes appeared in his hands.

‘Sure enough, even a broken unique item is overpowered,’

[Ymir’s broken Gauntlets (Unique)]

Even in the broken state, they had improved Zyrus’s overall strength by a notch. He didn’t have the time to check his status for a long while, but there was nothing to do till they reached the next island.

‘I have to analyze the rewards from Nuckelavee as well,’

Zyrus sat down comfortably and opened his status.

Everything was pretty much the same except for his inventory. With 10 gold he could be considered filthy rich at this time. Apart from that, Oroszlan’s journal had disappeared since he had already learned everything, he could from it.

And last but not least were the Ocean's Testament and the Ring of Sebek. They were grayed out the last time he saw them, but with Nuckelavee having merged with his fleet, he could interact with them once again.

‘Looks like everything worked out, I feared that after snatching another important boss, the administrator might take back the original reward,’

Zyrus could imagine the fuming face of Anansi when he got wind of the matter. Based on his personality, he most likely ignored everything after leaving the pieces archipelago.

After all, this place wasn’t technically under his jurisdiction. Though he wouldn’t be able to use excuses’ like that for long with Zyrus causing havoc everywhere he went.

‘Either he’ll be assigned with more area or we’ll get a new administrator,’

Zyrus had a reminiscent smile as he recalled the events before his regression. He had caused similar problems at that time, and it was due to them that Aurora was assigned as a special administrator that handled his matters.

Putting the other thoughts back, Zyrus checked out the rewards.

[The Ocean's Testament (Unequippable)]

A medallion given to those who have proven themselves on the treacherous waters. Increases your fame across the Kyros continent, increases the chance of recruiting sailors.

Abilities:

Once per week, you can deduce the weather of the ocean.

Summon a flock of ravens to scout the surroundings. The visual information will be relayed directly to the holder, but the holder has to remain immobile for the duration.

Duration: 5 minutes

Cooldown: 1 week

[Ring of Sebek (Rare)(Evolvable)]

A ring endowed with the blessing of Sebek. It’s might will vary based on the environmental conditions.

Abilities:

Increases Hp regen rate by 50% for 30 minutes.

Cooldown: 1 day

Summon crocodiles to fight alongside you. Their stats are based on user’s level and environment.

Summon limit: 0.3 x user’s level.

As expected from the rewards given after dealing with Nuckelavee. Both items were remarkable in terms of their wide range of applicability. Although it was difficult to find items with good offensive boots, they weren’t that rare in the grand scheme of things.

What was truly hard to come by were items like these that can influence a player’s whole combat system. The Conductor’s tiara and Mbeku’s shattered pride were among such examples.

Zyrus didn’t plan to use the items for himself as they were fairly restrictive. He didn’t lack summons or recovery rate, not to mention he didn’t have the luxury to remain idle for ten minutes for scouting. Both of these things could be achieved by his Balaur summoner class.

‘But they’re perfect for others,’

He decided to give the Oceans testament to Lauren since her class had an advantage in scouting. As for the ring of Sebek, Druv was a perfect fit for it. The troll’s transformation went well with increased hp regen rate as they were the best meat shields on the frontline. The summoned crocodiles should fix their lacking offensive might as well.

Besides, items that catered towards nature had a higher chance of evolving when used by elves and trolls.

Zyrus called over both of them and gave them the items. Hours passed by as he explained his conquest plan to the others.

And before long, the faint silhouette of an island was within their sight.
