Tower’s Richest Player: My Coins Won't Stop Increasing

Chapter 164: Entering the runes

The night was long, unexpectedly so this time.

There was danger all around them and little to no defensive preparations. With the presence of the dangerous beast lingering around them, they spent the night looking out for dangers.

However, perhaps thanks to the bloody predator or perhaps it was some other power in play, they survived the night and came out alive.

"There really is something out there, huh." The dawn broke, and Uni went back to finish her mission, this time, hiding her presence better than she had previously done.

Reaching the top which had somehow become flatter after just one night, the duo saw the actual scene beyond the dune: a rune.

From the distance, they could see the shadows cast by the old structures, a physical structure with a dorm, and other unique elements that most certainly did not seem anything natural.

This was a manmade object, runes of a fallen structure which had survived the battles of time and decay.

[{ "Stay there, Uni. I'll be right there." }]

KiRA had confirmed the location of the target so he moved on and quickly packed his things. He paced forward towards the top of the less-steep dune, even using his movement technique to hurry up.

The runes weren't close so they were going to fly all the way over there. He wanted to reach the destination by the end of the day so he hurried.

[{ Master~. }]

[{ "Let's go, Uni!" }]

When he reached the top where Unity had been waiting for him, he quickly asked her to shift forms.

-Oooooooooooooong!

He jumped right when her body had turned into a golden beam of light and as soon as the two got in contact with each other, they merged and a being resembling a Skydweller, a unique race that lived on the sky islands, emerged from the combination.

With his humanoid body covered in golden-white feathers, with two angelic wings on his back, unique tattoos resembling natural phenomena– swirls, rays, and lightning marks– appeared around his bare body.

His defensive clothes had vanished and all that was left was a simple looking cardigan covering the important parts of his body.

-Swiiiiiiiiiiish!

He fluttered his wings so gently they did not even make any disturbance in the atmosphere, however, in the very next moment, his body vanished, leaving only an afterimage… as well as a sonic boom.

-Booooooooooooom!

He infused a great part of his Holy power into their bond, aiding Unity with the energy supplementation.

Each time he fluttered his wings in the same gentle manner, he would pass through a few miles in the air, covering enough distance that would have otherwise taken tens of minutes, perhaps hours.

The runes weren't near. The distance between them was so great that they would have needed three hours just to come down the dune and an entire week just to reach the runes.

KiRA, however, could not take any more risks knowing there was a night predator who had experienced the scent of a delicious prey.

KiRA had experienced situations like these before as well. When they were still on the lower floors in the Tower of the Beginning, there were many predators who went after Unity just to take her pure essence.

It was also thanks to her unique purity that she was sealed away by the beings of the ancient times, the Ermisters. She was one of a kind in many regards, but that also attracted many predators.

The vampire vestige was one of the many creatures that could sense her presence and attack her due to their unique disposition, otherwise, not even the gods could perceive her unless they do something like their physical sync.

[Ding!]

[Ding!]

[Ding!]

Even right now, KiRA was receiving various messages from the higher beings who wanted him as their own. Many had backed off after the Lust showed their interest in him, but they are relentless with their tries.

Unity was an entity they cannot know anything about even with their divine senses. Her information was protected by the tower as well as her unique authority so they did not have access to it despite possessing various Authorities of their own.

Most of the time, she was invisible to them as well, but when they used their physical synchronisation, they saw her for a moment, and made wild speculations about her identity.

-Ooooooooooooooooooong!

KiRA was only able to cross two thirds of the distance with their sync. Even though he pushed himself, he could not reach the destination.

The toll of the sync was too high on Uni when they used it like this as well. The intensity was simply too high so he could not push her to her limits.

[{ "Master-." }]

"No. Rest for now. I'll do it on my own… it's not that much anyway."

She wanted to help even more but he shut her up. He pushed her inside his pocket inside of his heat-resisting hood, and dashed forward with his {Gale steps} almost flying like the winds.

He stepped on the blowing winds, dashed through the flatlands, ignored the heating shoes and endured through the physical strain the technique was putting on his body.

The sun was right above his head when he finally covered three fourths of the distance and was able to reach a point from where they could clearly see the runes.

There, he took a little break, observing the situation ahead with his enhanced eyesight.

He looked for any monsters or dangers that might be present there, but around these parts, he could not find any monsters or even traces of the Sandwyrms.

When he expended his Mana senses and looked below him with a Mana technique that resembled Sonar, he also found out that there were no Sandwyrm paths around these areas.

"Does the rune repel everything or is there something deeper?" KiRA mumbled to himself before shaking his head in denial.

He did not know the exact reason, and speculation would lead him nowhere.

The runes were right there so all he needed to do was enter that place and he would get his answers.

He was lucky enough to not encounter anything too dangerous until now, but things will not be so simple when he enters the runes.

"Are you alright, Uni?" When the sun was moving towards the other side of the horizon, KiRA got up and asked his partner.

[{ Yes, master! Let's go! }]

And she was once again enthusiastic.

Last night's experience did not bring her morale down. She knew she was weak right now and she accepted the fact. And along with it, she also accepted the fact that she would only grow stronger when they move forward with everything.

Her positivity was always inspiring for KiRA so he simply smiled at her and nodded. Then, changing into more durable shows, he once again dashed forward.

-Swiiiiiiiiiiiish!

There was nothing in his path, nothing to obstruct him so he moved forward with all his might once again.

He infused his Holy power in his movement technique and the increased energy input made his strides more explosive.

Once again he was gliding through the desert like a seasoned martial master, a trained desert assassin with a decade of experience.

'But then again, having something like a flying carpet would have made things much easier.'

Those expensive items weren't something you can purchase in stores. They were available on Unity's special store but the exchange rates were several times higher than creating one yourself.

The store ones weren't that efficient anyway so he knew there was no need to purchase something like this. He would wait till the higher floors and commission one from a good craftsman.

For now, he had his legs, he had his energy, and he had his skills… but the process wasn't painless.

-Swiiiiiiiiiiiiiiish…

By the time he reached the front of the runes, the sun had almost set on the horizon. The premise of the runes were not simple… KiRA could instantly tell this was a dungeon and not just an ancient site.

There was something peculiar about this place as well. He could feel a strange energy deep within the runes.

But, that was it.

"It doesn't seem like there are any traps around here. And there aren't any monsters present either."

KiRA was dead tired by this point, and the sun had almost set on the horizon as well.

He had to choose between spending the night outside of the runes, or going in when it was still the nighttime.

"Some dungeons are different during the day and night. What happens if there are more dangerous things inside right now?"

It was a fact that there would be traps all around the runes. The runes had turned into a dungeon as well so they were a dungeon rune, something even more dangerous.

There will be monsters, there will be a dungeon manager, and there will be traps. And if he needed to fight them when their powers might have enhanced due to the effects of the night, then that might be a little problematic.

"How about we rest here for now and go in later, Uni?"

[{ Hmm? Master… would that be alright? }]

Unity did not know how to answer that question. She was clueless as well.

She could feel the strange energy from deep inside as well, but she did not want to take any risks.

"Hmmm… we can look around this place for now. We might find some clues about the inside with that, right?"

[{ There might be something dangerous as well, master. But, I guess we should do that. }]

Who knows? They might even find something useful by searching the premises…
