Top-tier Unruly Master

Chapter 90: Time Bomb

Xu Rui had stayed at Ning Family Pharmacy for two days, and her injuries had almost completely healed. She thought that as soon as dawn broke tomorrow, she would head back to Dancheng.

Every time Xu Rui met Ding Fan, they would end up bickering. Even though Xu Rui's personality was typically unyielding, for some reason, whenever she argued with Ding Fan, she always felt an irritating sense of energy with nowhere to channel it.

When you pick a fight with someone, and they simply ignore you... Moreover, Ding Fan always spoke to her with an air of indifference, as if she owed him a large sum of money.

Regardless, Ding Fan had come to Xu Rui's aid several times. If it hadn't been for Ding Fan, her father, Xu Guanjie, would have died long ago from that strange illness. Later, if Ding Fan hadn't intervened this time, Ye Chenliang would have certainly been in trouble, leading to inevitable strife between the Ye Family of Yanjing and the Xu Family.

Therefore, since she was leaving tomorrow, Xu Rui decided to invite Ding Fan to a meal.

When Xu Rui came to look for Ding Fan, he was squatting by the flowerbed, lost in thought.

"Ding Fan, I want to invite you to dinner," Xu Rui said bluntly.

Ding Fan looked up at Xu Rui.

Today, Xu Rui had changed from her usual leather jacket and pants, the cool attire she often donned. It was rare to see her in jeans paired with a plaid shirt today.

The outfit was simple, but it lessened the domineering air of opulence that usually surrounded Xu Rui and added a touch of a girl's charm and beauty instead.

Ding Fan couldn't deny it; Xu Rui was indeed a rare beauty. If she didn't always dress in leather like some playboy, her looks would hardly be inferior to the big star Lin Qingqing.

"Okay," Ding Fan nodded.

Xu Rui herself had been injured these past few days and hadn't received much care. Ding Fan wasn't an insensible person; even if Xu Rui hadn't come to find him, he would have invited her to a meal anyway.

When Ding Fan first saw her, his gaze lingered on her for a moment, making Xu Rui feel a touch of pride in her heart.

"Then I'll wait for you outside. Get ready," she said.

"Sure," Ding Fan nodded again.

Xu Rui left first, and after Ding Fan quickly got ready, he followed her out.

Xu Rui didn't bring her Ferrari, so she and Ding Fan had to take a taxi. Xu Rui had previously called a friend for recommendations on distinctive restaurants in Dongcheng. So, after getting into the car, Xu Rui directed the driver to their destination.

Ding Fan was not fussy about food, so wherever Xu Rui wanted to go was fine with him.

The car wove through the streets and finally arrived at the entrance of a restaurant called Sichuan Cuisine.

Standing at the entrance and casually evaluating the restaurant's façade, Ding Fan surmised that dining here must be quite expensive.

However, Ding Fan had tens of thousands on him, so paying for a meal wasn't an issue. Although Xu Rui said she would treat him, Ding Fan wasn't about to let her spend any money...

Sichuan Cuisine was incredibly popular; even though it wasn't mealtime yet, the place was already full. Fortunately, Xu Rui had made a reservation for a room; otherwise, they would have had nowhere to sit.

"Bro, look at that chick..."

"Not bad, she's a hottie..."

While Xu Rui was communicating with the staff about her reserved private room, Ding Fan noticed several people in a corner gesturing and whispering about Xu Rui. Even though they were quite far from him, Ding Fan's hearing was exceptionally sharp. Even without the help of Divine Sense, he could easily make out conversations within a dozen meters.

Those few dressed flashy and looked like troublemakers at first glance.

"What's the matter?" Xu Rui, oblivious to the fact she was being pointed at, noticed Ding Fan's peculiar expression and asked from the side.

Ding Fan shook his head slightly. "Nothing, I just suddenly thought of something. Have we found our room yet?"

Ding Fan didn't want a few hooligans to disturb their meal and chose not to let Xu Rui know about them.

As for the hooligans, if they didn't provoke him, that was their good fortune. If they dared to come over recklessly, Ding Fan certainly wouldn't accommodate them.

"It's ready. Let's go," she said.

With that, Ding Fan and Xu Rui followed the staff member to a private room on the second floor.

This place was far from where those hooligans were, quite peaceful. Ding Fan was quite satisfied.

"You order," Xu Rui casually tossed the menu to Ding Fan.

Ding Fan ordered two dishes, keeping in mind that girls usually like sweet things, so he chose dishes with a sour and sweet flavor. Xu Rui didn't realize Ding Fan was considering her tastes; she thought he preferred sour and sweet food. Consequently, she also ordered two sour and sweet dishes.

Shortly after, the dishes were served, and Xu Rui ordered two bottles of wine. She poured a glass for Ding Fan and one for herself.

"Actually, I've wanted to thank you for a long time. If it weren't for you, my dad probably wouldn't be in this world anymore. Although I've paid you for the medical fees, I know it's nowhere near what you've done, and I owe you a favor. If you need anything, I'm willing to help... Here's to you; I'll drink up first!"

Xu Rui raised her glass without much pause, tilting her head back to drink it all in one go.

Of course, Ding Fan knew what Xu Rui was referring to. "Let's not mention that matter anymore, forget about it," he suggested.

Ding Fan's original intention was just to keep a backup plan for himself, but Xu Rui always thought he wanted to sleep with her, which made Ding Fan feel speechless. So today, he might as well resolve that issue for Xu Rui here.

"Do you think that the words I spoke were just to sound nice? Do you think the condition I set initially was just to fob you off?" Xu Rui's eyes narrowed, and his voice carried a hint of malcontent.

Xu Rui felt somewhat stifled. Despite living a boisterous and dandy life, there was no shortage of people pursuing him, and even more who desired his body.

So many had begged to win his favor, yet Xu Rui refused them all. He had already made it clear that he was saving his body for Ding Fan, but now the latter was unwilling.

Ding Fan was taken aback; in his past life, he had been a loner, and the thoughts of girls were something he could never fully grasp. Seeing Xu Rui suddenly change his demeanor, Ding Fan's expression grew solemn as well.

In Ding Fan's view, he was kindly helping Xu Rui with a problem, but instead of showing gratitude, the other party looked at him with an air of discontent.

"I can't control what you think, but I don't need your company," Ding Fan said indifferently.

Don't need your company?!

These words were incredibly grating to Xu Rui's ears. It made her feel like a shameless woman desperately trying to cling to Ding Fan.

"Ding Fan, don't get too cocky in front of me," Xu Rui's temper flared, and she forcefully slapped the table.

"It seems I've come to the wrong place today." Initially, Ding Fan thought Xu Rui had some ladylike qualities today, but Xu Rui just managed to pretend for a few minutes before revealing her true nature again.

Ding Fan didn't want to argue with Xu Rui, so he stood up, turned around, and was about to leave.

At that moment, the door of the private room was flung open, and a few hoodlum-like figures walked in.

Ding Fan frowned upon seeing these people; they were the same ones who were gesturing rudely when they had entered the restaurant.

"Who are you looking for?" Ding Fan asked coolly as he glanced at the group that had walked in.

"Kid, this has nothing to do with you. If you don't want to end up crawling around beaten, then get lost!" At this point, a man with a tiger tattooed on his chest, with a toothpick dangling from his mouth, spoke rudely to Ding Fan.

At the moment, Ding Fan was not concerned with the tattooed man who was speaking. Instead, he took notice of a man with a small moustache among the group.

This man wasn't particularly outstanding -- of average height with short hair and a small tuft of a moustache on his chin.

However, the reason Ding Fan was paying so much attention to this man was that he exuded an aura similar to that of Iron Dragon.

Put simply, the small moustache man and Iron Dragon appeared to practice the same type of evil cultivation technique, surely sharing some sort of connection.

"Sweetie, drinking alone is so boring. Let big brother join you for a drink," said the tattooed man as he pushed past Ding Fan and approached Xu Rui.

Xu Rui, who had just had a spat with Ding Fan, was full of anger with nowhere to vent. She swung her hand in a slap.

Slap...

Xu Rui acted so suddenly, and the tattooed man, having drunk quite a bit, was unable to dodge. For a moment, he received a solid slap.

"Fuck, you bitch dare to hit me! Refusing a toast only to drink a forfeit!" the tattooed man shouted, about to slap Xu Rui back.

However, his hand had just been raised when Ding Fan had already positioned himself in front of Xu Rui and grabbed the tattooed man's wrist.

"This is a public place after all. If there's an issue, let's go somewhere else to talk," Ding Fan said.

After speaking, Ding Fan gently, though imperceptibly, pushed the tattooed man who stumbled several steps backward to where his comrades were.

"Alright, then let's change the location to talk..." The small moustache man who had remained silent until now stepped forward, the corner of his mouth slightly curling up.

To the small moustache man, causing a big scene here would definitely involve the police. But if they changed location, things would be easier; once there, they could do whatever they wanted.

Xu Rui was somewhat puzzled by Ding Fan's intention. They were just a few hoodlums; why not settle it here instead of changing locations?

Nevertheless, Xu Rui didn't say much. Arguing with Ding Fan was one thing, but if trouble arose, how could she just leave him behind?

Leaving a friend behind was not in Xu Rui's character.

Ding Fan and Xu Rui followed the group of hoodlums downstairs and left the restaurant...

At this moment, Su Maner stood at the corner on the second floor, watching this scene unfold.

Su Maner shook her head slightly. She naturally noticed Xu Rui beside Ding Fan; apparently, he was an expert at attracting women, with a new beautiful lady by his side every day.

Seeing how they were going out to confront the ruffians, it seemed likely that it was a quarrel over a woman, about to escalate into a fight with thugs.

Su Maner sighed. It looked like she needed to find an opportunity to have a good talk with Qin Manshu; keeping a guy like this in the company was nothing short of a ticking time bomb...
