Ch. 22
022
When I came to, I was sitting in a chair.
I had no strength in my whole body and it was hard to even lift a finger. My entire body was sticky with something that could have been sweat.
My breathing was shallow, coming from my chest, and it felt as if a thin, long breath was barely keeping me alive.
If I didn't breathe, I would die.
With that fear, I desperately inhaled and exhaled long breaths.
After a few times.
With a ringing in my ears, the surrounding objects slowly started to come back into focus.
"Oh, teacher, you're awake."
"Th-this is..."
"Sit a little longer. The guards are taking care of the students' self-study and teaching."
Guards?
Ah, is he talking about Hati and Sordian?
For some reason, I didn't feel relieved.
"Your body must have been in really bad shape, teacher. What good is a man who's so frail?"
"I..."
"But the effect is good. Here!"
My face suddenly appeared in front of me.
That is to say, Rozalin had brought a mirror and was showing me.
My face, drenched in sweat and worn out with fatigue.
But my face was strangely smooth.
"My skin..."
"The waste products that had accumulated in your body have been discharged. It's also loosened your muscles, and your bones should be a little stronger."
"What kind of..."
Not magic or divine power, but just a single herb has that much power?
When I looked at Rozalin with a disbelieving expression, she snickered.
"It's the elixir that made a one-armed woman a great general."
"Wait a minute, then you should have eaten this..."
"It's okay. I'm much better now with both arms than I was back then. Besides, I told you! What is our humanity? It lives longer if the teacher is healthy and teaches well!"
"Uh-huh."
"By the way, how's your body? Are you okay?"
I slowly stood up from the chair.
When I first stood up, it felt as if the ground was pulling my body down, as if I would fall back at any moment.
But after walking a few steps, I soon felt a refreshing breeze pass through the depths of my body.
'I really feel refreshed.'
It was a state I had never felt before.
Just in case, I lightly rotated my ankle and shook my arm a few times.
My muscles felt much more flexible, and I could feel more strength in my arm when I swung it.
The effect was truly unbelievable.
"At this rate?"
Just in case, I took out the wooden sword I had propped up in a corner of the faculty room.
I took a deep breath, "Hoo-up—," then raised the sword and took my stance.
At that moment.
'Ah.'
A sharp, tingling pain started from my heart and slowly spread throughout my body.
At this rate.
I slowly took a step with my right foot and raised my sword.
A middle slash while moving forward.
It was the first form of my swordsmanship, which I had created with Freutche.
"Ugh."
But the swordsmanship could not continue properly.
I was somehow able to take a step and raise my sword, but just before I brought the sword down, a pain as if the line connecting my shoulder, shoulder blade, and lower back had stiffened, overwhelmed me.
In the end, I couldn't bring the sword all the way down and dropped it.
'It's okay.'
But even this was good.
At this rate, I think I can grit my teeth and swing the sword just once.
"The effect of the medicine is good."
"Uh, huh? Yes?"
Rozalin asked, blinking her eyes.
She was so close that I wondered when she had come this far.
Her faded, light blue long hair was fluttering so clearly.
"What was that swordsmanship just now?"
"My swordsmanship. It's the basic swordsmanship I'm creating now..."
"Basic? No way. If that's basic, then all the swordsmen in this world would die of old age just learning the basic swordsmanship! And it's your swordsmanship, teacher? You're not saying you created that, are you?"
"Uh-huh, me and Instructor Freutche together..."
"What kind of nonsense are you talking about, Instructor Freutche! What did that oafish instructor who has nothing but muscles create? The only thing that person creates is his own dark history every day!"
You're being too harsh...
I looked at Rozalin in disbelief, but she grabbed my shoulder as if to say, 'what's the big deal?'
"Can you, do that again?"
"Then the Great Master will have his gravestone erected today."
Yuria, who had come in at some point, opened her mouth quietly.
"What? You, to my teacher..."
"How is your body?"
Yuria approached like a ghost and placed her hand on my arm.
It was the very spot that was throbbing and aching the most.
"That part feels like it's going to tear."
"Your body has improved, but only slightly. Just because a few more drops of water are added to the water that was barely covering the bottom, you can't fill the jar."
"Huh? Hey! Speak so I can understand!"
Rozalin's eyes began to waver as she heard Yuria's explanation.
"You're saying the instructor will die if he uses his swordsmanship? Uh, uh, what should I do? Should I cut off one of the instructor's hands? It, it hurts a little at first, but it's not that inconvenient to live with?"
Could you please calm down?
I took a step away from Rozalin and looked at Yuria.
Her eyes seriously scanned my entire body.
"...You said you were fine up to taking one step and raising the sword."
"Yeah."
"At that level, what if you use the cheapest swordsmanship you can easily find in the market? Your body might be able to withstand that to some extent."
"Cheap, I see, alright! Instructor! I'll go get it, so you can't swing your sword in class today! Got it!"
As soon as Yuria's words ended, Rozalin rushed out of the faculty room with a clatter.
What a mess.
I looked out the window.
I don't know how long I was unconscious, but the sun was already high in the sky.
Even if I rushed now, I would be late for class.
"Will you be in the classroom? I'm going to take a shower."
Yuria nodded slightly and went to the classroom first.
After showering and changing, I headed to the classroom in the old building.
"Sorry, I'm a little late."
The eyes of many students were directed at me.
Yes, literally many.
At a glance, there seemed to be at least 80 of them.
After the duel that day.
Only the students from Class C who really wanted to learn management, economics, accounting, history, literature, etc., rather than swordsmanship and magic, remained in Class C.
They were about 15 out of 50 students.
The remaining 35 applied to move up to Class A.
According to the initial promise, the grades should have been swapped with the original Class A students, but.
'Since it wasn't a grade evaluation that included Class B, let's leave the existing Class A students in Class A.'
At my suggestion, the current size of the classroom was completed.
Because the number of students who wanted to take my class, regardless of their class, had increased.
"The boss is here. The kids were doing self-study."
"Thank you."
Thanks to that, the old building also underwent large-scale construction.
The auditorium was remodeled to create an indoor sports space that could accommodate up to 200 people.
A blackboard, chairs, and desks were placed on one side of the space so that about 80 people could comfortably have class.
The space was large, so the sound echoed, but it wasn't to the point where it was impossible to have class.
Above all, the advantage was that theory and practice could be done together.
Due to my physical characteristics, it was much more comfortable for me to teach the system to students by teaching theory rather than practical spars or lessons.
"In the case of the imperial sword style, it basically aims for a practical swordsmanship that has been refined for wars of conquest. Therefore, the swordsmanship of the titled nobility and the hereditary nobility is bound to be divided based on history."
When I conducted the lecture, a unique scene unfolded.
The guard captain Rozalin and the guards Sordian and Hati took their seats on one side of the classroom and listened to the lecture freely.
They were, in a sense, auditors.
85 students followed the lecture, taking notes, and those who seemed to have realized something went to the back and swung their swords freely.
"Swordsmanship does not grow in only one direction. As the knight class of the empire began to deploy sword formations centered on melees and one-hit kills, the swordsmanship of the surrounding kingdoms became more defensive, or they gave up the sword. A representative example is the north."
And so, today's lesson was successfully concluded.
Compared to before, the students' concentration had increased, and the atmosphere in the classroom was much better.
Of course, it seemed that the students were not following the lesson well.
'I should quickly learn the cheap swordsmanship that Rozalin will bring.'
Come to think of it, I hardly knew any third-rate cheap swordsmanship.
From the beginning, I had learned the sword with the swordsmanship of the Lionheart Commander, and thanks to that, my standards had become very high.
After that, when I learned about swordsmanship, I had also sought out information on high-class swordsmanships as much as possible.
As a result, I had rarely seen the third-rate cheap swordsmanship of the streets, and I had even fewer opportunities to see the theory books of such swordsmanships.
'When teaching students, a lower-level swordsmanship might be more helpful.'
Just as I was about to finish the class and head to the faculty room.
"Hey, boss. Some weird person was watching the class for a while and then left."
Hati approached me and warned.
A weird person? But this is inside the academy.
"She had light orange hair and a small build."
"Ah, I know who you're talking about."
At my answer, Hati's stiff expression relaxed.
"What, so she's not a weird person."
"Well..."
I wonder?
"Huh?"
"She is a weird person."
I smiled bitterly and left the classroom.
I leave the old building and move towards the new building.
A familiar space where I used to teach, not the space I had been going back and forth to because of the grade evaluation with Class A.
It was the space currently being used by Class B.
I moved towards the faculty room of the 1st floor B class.
Knock, knock.
I opened the door after knocking.
Then, there was someone who was pretending to read a book that they had clearly just picked up, holding it upside down.
Light orange hair, a face with freckles that hadn't completely faded yet.
Sharp, neurotic eyes, a rather thin body.
It was Gwen, the swordsmanship instructor of the basic B class.
She raised her eyes slightly above the book with an annoyed expression.
"What is it, at a time like this?"
"The guards told me. That you came and went from the Class C lesson? Didn't you come all the way to the old building for some business?"
"What! You're being rude! I just! I visited there for some business, that's all!"
Yes, yes, of course.
I leaned against the door with my arms crossed without any particular answer.
Then Gwen glared at me with an annoyed look, giving me a sign.
It seemed like she was telling me to get lost quickly.
"The book is upside down."
"Th-this page was printed upside down!"
Gwen quickly closed the book with a flustered expression and threw it under the desk.
Even so, the fact that she didn't look embarrassed or ashamed at all made her a truly amazing person.
"So, what's your business."
"Ahem, I didn't go there for any particular reason, but anyway. Since you're here, I have to say this. Isn't this unfair? What did you say to that little devil of Goldline?"
Little devil, so she's got that nickname in the new building.
To me, she seems like just a devil, or maybe even a demon lord.
"What did you say to persuade most of the Class A students to move to Class C, and for a person with no ability to suddenly surpass a royal knight and take that instructor position!"
"I'm just a Class C instructor..."
"If all the Class A kids are there, then it's Class A, not Class C!"
"Anyway, with the cross-registration system in place, students can now freely choose the lessons they want to take, regardless of their talent or grades..."
"That's the problem!"
Bang!
Gwen, unable to control her anger, slammed the desk.
"Even the students in my class are making a fuss, saying they'll go there!"
Ah, so that was the problem.
If that's the case, then surely.
"We should put a few more desks in the auditorium..."
"What kind of nonsense are you talking about!"
"? Didn't you come because you were worried that the desks in the lecture hall would be insufficient?"
"Eek!"
Gwen's face turned beet red, as if she was holding her breath.
"So let's have an evaluation, us too! An evaluation!"
"...? Are the students going to fight again?"
"Not that, you! and me!"
Ah?
"Let's do that professor qualification evaluation or whatever! Let's have a match!"
Ah.
So, I've been challenged.
