Chapter 291: Bro, Can I Sit This Out?
Ren Feng was utterly stunned, as he looked up and saw the same few thieves from before walking toward him.
Leading the pack was that shifty-eyed guy, his face full of anger. He pointed at himself and then turned back, saying to the others behind him, "Boss, he's there!"
Bai Xiaoyue also looked over and was dumbfounded upon seeing them.
The people around were equally stunned as they watched a bunch of thugs split into two lines and approach.
Then, a guy with an extremely unique style swaggered over. His hair pointed upwards, and as he walked, he ran his fingers through it at the sides, very flashy.
This man's face carried an air of violence as he directly approached Ren Feng.
Ren Feng sized him up and curiously asked, "Bro, that's a nice hairstyle. Where'd you get it?"
"Oh, just at the Light Dance Flying Salon next door. Not bad and quite cheap. Mention my name for a 50% discount," the man said nonchalantly.
A sidekick discreetly nudged the man, "Boss, we should handle the business first."
"Right, let's get down to business." The man coldly stared at Ren Feng, "Before anything, we need to settle one thing."
Ren Feng looked bewildered and pointed at himself, "You're here for me?"
"Is there a problem?" The man accepted a cigarette handed over by a lackey, took a puff.
"No problem, but aren't you supposed to be looking for her?" Ren Feng chuckled, pulling Bai Xiaoyue in front of him, "She's a cop."
"No, I'm here for you." The boss said casually, "Wanna team up with me?"
What?
Ren Feng's expression was extremely odd. What the heck, am I being recruited here?
Bai Xiaoyue's mouth twitched, thinking this boss was truly bizarre.
"Yeah, join me. Luozi said you've got a keen eye. We need talent like you. Join us—no fees, free food and board, a base salary of 2000 plus commission. How about it?"
The boss took a drag on his cigarette.
Ren Feng couldn't help but feel amused, who knew thieves were this corporate nowadays?
"Brother, she's a cop, you know." Ren Feng winked, "Say that and aren't you afraid of getting arrested?"
"She's not a cop; I know your tricks." This boss exuded an aura of confidence, as if he had control over everything. "Follow me and there are monthly bonuses. You can visit salon girls once a month without me shortchanging you."
Bai Xiaoyue felt a vein pop on her forehead, and Ren Feng's mind was a mix of amusement and frustration. Being too outstanding is truly a problem.
"No, brother, really, she is a cop." Ren Feng looked helpless, "Please, go with her for a while."
"Don't use that excuse; I just have one question: are you in or out?" The boss flicked the cigarette and looked at Ren Feng, "If not, we need to settle this about Luozi."
"Forget it, let's settle this then." Ren Feng shook his head, "I don't have this much time to waste with you."
"Good, looks like you refuse to…"
Before he could finish, the boss felt himself being lifted by Ren Feng and thrown like a flying object.
"Ah!"
The boss's panicked and tragic cries rang out. His hands flailed in the air like a flying fish.
The surrounding onlookers stood there, stunned, their eyes following the boss to the big tree within the tiger's cage.
Even the tiger lifted its head.
Everyone was shocked, and the thugs looking at Ren Feng were expressionless.
Ren Feng effortlessly lifted his hands again, grabbing the remaining thieves, and they too were tossed into the tiger's cage.
Screams rang out again. The dazed boss staggered a little, only to have his team pressed on top of him.
Poof!
The boss's eyes widened.
Then went another wave of screams, as almost all the thieves were thrown into the cage, leaving just that shifty-eyed guy.
Everyone around was stunned, watching the scene for a long time without reacting.
What, what is going on here?
And that thief looked at Ren Feng's smiling face, swallowed nervously, "Sir, I don't need to be thrown, right?"
"How could that be? You must follow your boss's lead."
Ren Feng grabbed the thief and tossed him over.
After another scream, the tree in the tiger's cage was covered in people, luckily the branches were plentiful, or they'd all fall down.
At this moment, the tiger in the cage was standing up, reaching its claws toward the thieves, growling lowly.
"Help, help!"
The boss was scared out of his wits, shouting frantically, and cursed, "Damn it, stop pressing down on me! I'm going to fall, where's someone, where's the manager, help!"
The manager nearby was shocked and hurriedly went to call for help.
Ren Feng clapped his hands, smiling and said to Bai Xiaoyue, "Okay, all the annoying guys are dealt with. Just make a call later and we can talk business."
Bai Xiaoyue sighed in resignation, dialing the central office to send help.
"Alright, Xiaoyue, let's continue our previous discussion."
Bai Xiaoyue was conflicted inside but pushed her thoughts back down. She shook her head, "Forget it, let's leave this matter to others, I won't get involved."
Ren Feng was confused, talking for so long and now not getting involved?
"Alright, I'm leaving. I'll find you next time if there's anything."
Bai Xiaoyue then walked off.
Good lord, what's going on here?
Ren Feng thought for a while, but something was off today about Bai Xiaoyue, though what specifically?
Even if Ren Feng thought hard, he couldn't figure out the reason.
Ah, a woman's heart is like a needle at the bottom of the ocean. Even the most straightforward woman has some aspects that are hard to guess.
"Need a ride?" Ren Feng called out.
"No need."
Bai Xiaoyue, feeling conflicted inside, glanced at Ren Feng with hesitation but still turned and left.
Ah, what's wrong with me?
Bai Xiaoyue sighed slightly, unsure of her own thoughts.
Ren Feng shrugged, checked the time—it was past four in the afternoon. Okay, time to head back, he had some tasks too.
Returning to the Hummer, he checked the time and decided it was time to go back. Regarding that mysterious organization, he should reach out to the chief.
Ren Feng had previously contacted the chief for information on Purple Thorn, that time was to repay a favor, but this time was different.
Getting the chief to help will cost a pretty penny.
Then, Ren Feng started dialing the phone, and a chaotic voice rang out.
"Hello, this is the burger shop next to Buckingham Palace. Buddy, are you ordering a burger... uh, wait, this number is familiar. Ahaha, King of Mercenaries, contacting me again so soon? Seems like you've had quite a few troubles lately."
The voice on the other end laughed heartily.
