Toman's Black Cat

The moment seemed to evaporate into the wind when Chifuyu asked the one question I didn't want to think about or even answer.

"Y/n, are you a time leaper?"

I could feel my blood go cold as the memory of the first time I experienced my version of time leaping ran through my head.

Chifuyu stood in front of me waiting for my answer. "Y/n?"

I couldn't stop the tears. I could feel my head start to split with the same pain I had felt that time with just the memory alone. I had managed to not think of it too often, but…

"I'm sorry. I should've protected you better." I choked out in between sobs. "I kept trying to change things. I couldn't save anyone. Baji died right in front of me because I wasn't fast enough."

The sobs shook me to the core.

"But..if you are a time leaper…you got shot…" Takemitchy muttered.

I could barely breathe. I felt like I was drowning in the memory of the fiery pain that went through my skull. To make the memory of the pain go away, I brought both of my hands to cover my head, but it didn't help.

"I don't know why it worked like that. "

Chifuyu wrapped his arms around me to calm me down. "You wanna come with us then?"

The offer for me to hang around with them led to me watching Smiley threaten Takemitchy again.

Why is he threatening him this time? I don't think he did anything to bad today…

I watched the back and forth in confusion, but I guess I had been staring at Smiley longer than I thought.

"The hell you lookin at, babe?"

Even though he was smiling and had a very "I will kill you" kind of tone, I could sense a kind of..insecurity behind it. I sat next to him, doing my very best to be calm and honest.

The silence could've been heard for miles.

"It's just…I really like your hair.." I muttered. "Yours and Angrys' too. I actually have a nickanem for you both that I think you'd like!"

Having spoken exactly what I was I was thinking, I felt the sudden need to run for it.

"Oh yeah?" In only a moment of an honest opinion, his smile went from the "I'll kill you" to…something else I really couldn't make out.

"Yup. I'm gonna call you both my emoji boys." I exclaimed that bit with more excitement than I meant to, but he tilted his head in amusement.

"'Your' emoji boys, eh?"

O_O??!?!?!?!

"I like it." He said with a calmness.

So, he isn't gonna kill me, but my heart might stop. WHY. DID. I. SAY. MY?!?!?!?!

"Don't flirt with Y/n. That isn't why we're here….plus Mikey'll kill you." Draken let that final warning hang out in the open before turning to me. "You done hiding from Emma?"

I gave a sad smile. I couldn't respond. I wasn't actually told if I was allowed even be here. I forgot that I had been labeled as off limits. Mikey never told me if anything changed.

"Let me guess, Mikey never said if anything changed and now you feel bad." Draken let out with a tired groan.

I shook my head. "It's not his fault. He's busy. You guys should go back to what you were talking about. I'll be quiet." With that, I lowered my gaze to the floor.

Everything happened with Takemitchy's plan being rejected and then Kisaki offering assistance.

That knowledge didn't make me angry, but now filled me with fear. Fear that I intend to shove down until all of this is over.

When he offered his help, I stood up as well and offered mine to be able to tag along.

I turned to say goodbye to Smiley, only to see his eye twitch when we made eye contact. I remember it did that before. When I was in the future.
