Tokyo: My Superpower Refreshes Every Week

Chapter 303 Arakawa: Rather Die Than Go to the Rooftop_1

DING-DONG.

The pleasant sound of the class-ending bell echoed through the silent campus. The teacher left the classroom. Takahashi Saeko didn't stay in her seat; she stood up and walked towards Ayatsuki Ayaka.

The student in the seat in front of Ayatsuki Ayaka left the classroom even faster, hoping to sit on the chair still warm from the hot girl.

Although Takahashi Saeko and Tama Chan were quite famous at Brilliant High School, most of the boys whispered behind their backs that the two girls were easy and that inviting them to bed was simple.

The truth was not so. Plain individuals with nothing special about them clearly could not partake of a hot girl's bounty.

Takahashi Saeko had her own standards for "training dogs"; if a man didn't suit her interests and preferences, she would rather till a barren field by hand than randomly pick an "ox."

She sat down in the chair at Ayatsuki Ayaka's desk.

"Hehe, Saeko~"

A smile spread across Ayatsuki Ayaka's face, as clear as an unpolluted lake, transparently revealing her lack of schemes.

Takahashi Saeko raised her hand and couldn't resist flicking her forehead. "And you're laughing. Do you know that Aozawa was absent from the Sword Dao club's practice again yesterday?"

"Saeko, how do you know that?"

"I'm still friends with the Sword Dao club captain; he told me."

Takahashi Saeko replied. Ayatsuki Ayaka had always been clumsy at gathering intelligence. If she didn't help, Phoenix Academy Maggie would have already made her move, while Ayatsuki Ayaka was probably still naively pleased with her own supposed progress.

"Besides, Furusawa Kyoichiro from the baseball club also missed practice. He and Nomura True Wave are childhood friends. I probed a little and found out from Furusawa that yesterday afternoon they went to Ayase Amusement Park. He and Nomura, Aozawa and Phoenix Academy... you could say it was a three-person date."

"Damn it." Ayatsuki Ayaka clenched her fists, then let them fall open with a sigh of discouragement. "What should I do?"

"Don't be discouraged," Takahashi Saeko consoled her. "As long as Aozawa's personality doesn't change, you won't be able to stop him from dating Phoenix Academy or Morimoto. Changing a person's character isn't something that can be done overnight; it takes a long time. If you can't persevere, you can always give up."

"I won't give up!" Ayatsuki Ayaka shook her head. Our dates are so much fun, she thought. I don't see any reason to give up on Aozawa.

Tama Chan propped her cheek on her hand. "Why don't we just let Iroha agree, then infiltrate them and sabotage things from the inside? I believe neither Morimoto nor Phoenix Academy would tolerate Aozawa and Iroha constantly... AHEM."

Takahashi Saeko retorted, "Iroha isn't you. She simply doesn't have the brains for that kind of scheming."

"Saeko, that was rather rude," Ayatsuki Ayaka pouted. "I'm just too kind-hearted to resort to such deceitful tricks."

"That's a real shame." Tama Chan didn't deny Takahashi Saeko's words. She sighed. Breaking through from the inside is definitely easier than from the outside, she thought. Forget about just causing drama in the harem; having three girls take turns with him in a single day would turn Aozawa into a shriveled apple in less than half a month. By then, he definitely wouldn't be talking about starting a harem anymore. 'Sharing the love equally' is easier said than done; no man can truly achieve it.

"Let's discuss Sunday's date instead." Ayatsuki Ayaka, afraid they would come up with more dark ideas, quickly shifted the topic to Sunday's date, wanting to ask if they had any new tricks to teach her.

「Noon.」

Arakawa Reina didn't join her usual group of "good students" for lunch; they had all brought bento boxes, but she hadn't. Her father was a top-tier adult comics master, and her mother was his exclusive model. Being nocturnal creatures, their schedules were quite regular—they often slept until noon. Her breakfast consisted of bread and milk bought online. For lunch, her parents gave her meal money to eat whatever she liked at the school cafeteria. However, Arakawa Reina never spent her meal money there, opting instead for cheaper bread and orange juice. She needed to save money to move out for college. Besides, her current figure was already a source of anxiety, and she didn't want to take in any more "nutrition."

Arakawa Reina went downstairs and looked at the bread in the vending machine. Red bean or cream today? Pondering the choice of bread was a small, daily pleasure before lunch.

"Class President~"

A hand suddenly patted her shoulder.

Arakawa Reina jumped, startled. She turned around. "Ms. Ayatsuki, what is it?" Her finger subconsciously pushed up her glasses.

I don't dislike Ms. Ayatsuki, Arakawa Reina thought, but her sudden warmth is a bit overwhelming. Creatures of the dark yearn for the sun's warmth yet fear its scorching intensity, preferring to watch the sunlight on the grass from the safety of the shadows. That's the best state.

Ayatsuki Ayaka's tanned cheeks showed a trace of curiosity. "I feel like your silhouette resembles someone. Do you have any sisters?"

The sudden question made Arakawa Reina's heart leap into her throat. She quickly shook her head. "N-no, I don't. You must be mistaken."

"Is that so?" Ayatsuki Ayaka tilted her head. Watching the Class President go downstairs... her back view really did seem to overlap with someone else's. Her brow furrowed as she tried to activate her "Holmes-Iroha" mode.

Takahashi Saeko slapped the back of her head, disrupting the "evolution." "Don't dawdle. Hurry to the cafeteria. Weren't you just complaining about being hungry?"

"Oh, right." Ayatsuki Ayaka gave up thinking and waved. "Class President, I'm off to eat!"

"Goodbye."

Arakawa Reina sighed in relief, then noticed Takahashi Saeko staring at her, a hint of amusement in her eyes, as if she'd seen through something. Reina's heart lurched. Because I always try to avoid people and make myself unnoticeable, I'm quite sensitive to gazes and expressions. Takahashi Saeko's look... it's the look of someone who's figured something out! Could she have seen through my disguise? The thought made her heart pound. Unlike Aozawa, Takahashi Saeko is like a Demon, like Satan himself, in my eyes. These 'bad girls' love to drag 'good girls' down into the same abyss as themselves!

But Takahashi Saeko said nothing, simply heading into the cafeteria with Ayatsuki Ayaka and Tama Chan.

Faintly, Ayatsuki Ayaka's voice drifted back, "...can't tell by looking, but the Class President's chest is huge!"

Arakawa Reina looked down, a helpless expression on her face. She hurriedly bought a red bean paste bun and orange juice, planning to find a hidden spot to eat.

At the school building's entrance hall, Arakawa Reina changed her shoes. As she turned to leave, a boy suddenly blocked her way.

"Class President, sorry to bother you, but could I have a moment of your time?"

Arakawa Reina was surprised. She looked at the boy before her: short buzz-cut, ordinary features. His name is Terao Kanno, I think, she recalled. Average grades, average athletic ability... thoroughly ordinary. If he has any strong point, it's his relentless optimism.

"Do you need something?"

"Actually, I've liked you for a long time. Are you free this weekend?" Terao Kanno scratched his head, his eyes darting around shyly.

Arakawa Reina was no stranger to summer confessions. This is precisely why I hate summer, she thought. Once summer arrives, my figure becomes impossible to hide, and it always attracts boys who confess. In winter and spring, when I'm all bundled up, no one ever says a word. But in this restless season, I always get confessions. Their intentions are so obvious; they're just after my body.

"Sorry, I'm not free," Arakawa Reina replied quickly, wanting to escape.

Terao Kanno's spirits lifted. She just said she's not free; she didn't reject my confession! Does this mean I have a chance? "How about next weekend then?"

Arakawa Reina froze for a moment, then quickly shook her head. "I'm not free then either."

"Oh, I get it!" Terao Kanno, recalling her modest lunch, pieced together his own version of the truth. I have to help at my family's ramen shop on weekends, so she must be working part-time too. He decided to try a caring approach. "No worries! How about we add each other as friends?"

Arakawa Reina felt helpless. I really hate pushy people like this, but I can't bring myself to say anything harsh. Time for Plan B. "It's not that. I have a date with my boyfriend on weekends."

Terao Kanno's face showed surprise. "Class President, when did you get a boyfriend? I didn't even notice. Is he from our school?"

Arakawa Reina hadn't expected his emotional intelligence to be so low. Are we even close enough to discuss such things? she fumed internally. She wanted to say so outright but felt it would be too impolite. How can I gently get him to understand...?

Outside the school building, Aozawa, holding his bento box, walked through the gate. He noticed Arakawa Reina looking distressed near the shoe lockers. The Class President's real-world verbal combat skill is practically zero, he knew, a stark contrast to her fierce online persona.

"Can't you see the Class President is troubled? Stop bothering her," Aozawa called out.

Terao Kanno turned his head. A look of realization dawned on his face, and he walked away dejectedly. Why? he fumed internally. Aozawa has amazing girls like Phoenix Academy Maggie and Ayatsuki Ayaka around him. Why is he competing with me for the Class President? Damn it, would it kill him to leave just one girl for an ordinary guy like me to pursue?

Aozawa walked up to Arakawa Reina. "Class President, are you okay?"

Arakawa Reina took a deep breath and shook her head, patting her chest. "Summer really is terrifying."

Aozawa glanced at her. "That can't be helped. You have certain... natural advantages."

Hearing this, Arakawa Reina quickly covered her chest, her cheeks flushing red. "Mr. Aozawa, you shouldn't say things like that!"

"I'm a normal guy, too," Aozawa replied, then smiled. "If you're afraid of being harassed, you can eat lunch with me from now on."

Arakawa Reina was somewhat tempted. "Mr. Aozawa, where do you usually eat lunch?"

"The rooftop."

Hearing that familiar word, Arakawa Reina's eyes widened. She quickly shook her head. "N-no, thank you! Goodbye!"

She fled the school building as if escaping. Never in this lifetime! I'd rather die than eat lunch on the rooftop!
