Tokyo: My Superpower Refreshes Every Week

Chapter 293 The Young Lady is Sick_1

"Ah!"

Witnessing this, the nearby people screamed in terror as blood spurted from the headless corpse.

At this moment, the crowd, rather than gawk, threw down their umbrellas and desperately fled for their lives.

Panic quickly spread. Morimoto Chiyoda sensed something was wrong and swiftly drew her M500.

She hadn't bothered with an umbrella for the light rain, as it wouldn't soak her. But now, she decisively snatched one from a passerby to shield herself from potential sniper fire.

Katerina reacted brashly, charging toward the source of the commotion.

Miyaji Yosuke, Okayama Buji, and others in the van quickly drew their guns but didn't rush out immediately.

They understood that in such chaos, they had to remain calm and avoid further inciting panic among the scattering crowd.

Instead, they had to identify the enemy among the civilians before deciding whether to open fire.

This wasn't an easy decision. The chaos made it highly probable they could hit innocent civilians.

"Damn it."

Emily bit her thumb. She had to admit this method was cruel yet highly effective at neutralizing firearms—unless the special task force, like their enemy, could completely disregard the lives of those at the scene.

Katerina, moving against the tide of people, had to be careful not to knock anyone down. In such a situation, falling could easily lead to being trampled to death.

She paused, spotting a very strange figure rapidly weaving through the crowd.

Sagiratha seemed to have no bones in her body, moving forward like a snake slithering close to the ground.

Her speed was extremely fast.

Her primary target was not Katerina, but the armed Morimoto Chiyoda.

"Morimoto!"

Before Katerina's call could reach her ears, Morimoto Chiyoda had already fallen back; she wisely retreated toward the burning building.

The rising black smoke could effectively screen her from snipers at higher vantage points, and the panicked crowd wouldn't rush this way, ensuring she had enough space.

The downside was the potential for secondary explosions from above and the risk of falling debris.

But Morimoto Chiyoda was confident she could evade these dangers.

If she hadn't retreated here, the powerful gun in her hand could easily have harmed bystanders.

Morimoto Chiyoda surveyed the chaotic scene before her.

Suddenly, a man was decapitated. Sagiratha then fiercely kicked the severed head like a soccer ball toward Morimoto Chiyoda.

Seeing this, Morimoto Chiyoda didn't shoot. She swiftly dodged to the side, only to witness a horrifying sight—there was someone behind the head?!

Sagiratha's shoulders exhibited an eerie contraction. This ensured she could hide within the blind spot covered by the man's head. Her ordinary physique meant she didn't have to worry about untrainable fat affecting her concealment.

She held herself as straight as a javelin.

Her right hand, holding a small pistol, aimed directly at Morimoto Chiyoda. Her index finger pulled the trigger.

BANG.

A gunshot rang out, and the bullet struck Morimoto Chiyoda's M500.

The moment she saw her opponent, she abandoned any thought of raising her gun to return fire. Instead, she anticipated where the enemy's gun barrel was aimed and used her M500 as a shield at the point of impact.

In that split second, Morimoto Chiyoda's mind remained icily calm and rational.

Her individual abilities might not be top-tier, but her all-around proficiency gave her an edge. Those with better marksmanship than her weren't as skilled in combat. And those more skilled in combat lacked her marksmanship. Even those superior in both areas lacked her intellect and composure.

Morimoto Chiyoda's choice to defend didn't mean she had given up on attacking. She knew she wasn't fighting alone.

Therefore, there was no need for her to force an attack on the enemy herself.

Sagiratha was about to fire a second shot.

BOOM. Like an enraged bull, Katerina bulldozed through any obstacle, rushing up from behind.

The fierce gust of wind felt like a knife grazing Sagiratha's cheek. Katerina's superhuman speed left Sagiratha unable to react, rendering her as clumsy as a puppet.

Katerina clasped her hands together and brought them down like a sledgehammer onto Sagiratha's waist.

"Ah!"

A scream tore from Sagiratha as her spine snapped.

She crashed heavily to the ground.

Katerina crouched down. One punch, like a cannonball, broke Sagiratha's right arm; then, she violently shattered her left shoulder with her knee.

With her right hand, Katerina skillfully dislocated Sagiratha's jaw to prevent her from biting her tongue to commit suicide.

BANG, BANG. Shots rang out from nearby.

Hussein fell to a well-aimed shot from Okayama Buji.

Kitanotake said with annoyance, "Okayama, don't interfere in this manly duel between him and me!"

"A swift resolution minimizes casualties," Okayama Buji retorted.

Morimoto Chiyoda, holding the umbrella, walked over to the downed woman. She crouched and asked, "Only two of you? Is Mohammed lurking nearby?"

"He's probably fled by now," Katerina guessed.

Morimoto Chiyoda shook her head. "Not necessarily. A man like him might enjoy doing the unexpected, perhaps planning to ambush us somewhere. People often let their guard down after a victory."

"You're right," Katerina agreed.

「...」

Mohammed watched as his trusted subordinates were taken down by the enemy in less than a minute after advancing, even though the difference in numbers wasn't significant.

It meant the opponents were stronger in one-on-one combat than his own men. Especially that tall woman. Her explosive power was terrifying, and her speed at that moment was probably not even her limit. The CIA truly was a den of crouching tigers and hidden dragons.

Mohammed lowered his binoculars. Judging by the calm manner in which the umbrella-wielding woman handled the crisis, he concluded that trying to ambush them after their victory would likely mean walking into their trap.

Compared to the two women, the other man on foot and those in the van seemed less formidable. Best to end this quickly.

Mohammed was about to make his move when he heard the roar of approaching vehicles. Reinforcements, is it...

"No choice."

He abandoned the idea of attacking. The current goal was to get information about Dio, not to pick a hard fight with the CIA.

He would seek revenge for his comrades after this was all over.

Mohammed made his decision without hesitation and quickly departed.

He trusted his two subordinates' loyalty; they would never betray him.

It was just that, compared to the CIA, his own interrogation methods seemed far too gentle.

Mohammed decided to find a local Yakuza Organization to use as a base. He would control its leader and indirectly have the Yakuza work for him.

Having lost Sagiratha and Hussein, he needed new people to test the CIA's traps. From now on, he would be fighting alone again. On the path to truth, the number of those who could walk with him was ever dwindling.

Mohammed felt no sentimentality; his heart had long grown accustomed to this.

「...」

The light rain ceased, and a faint ray of sunlight pierced through the clouds, falling upon the osmanthus trees in the school courtyard.

Aozawa stared blankly outside. Various scenes flashed through his mind. In one of them, a blonde girl was stealthily approaching, a sneaky expression on her face, as if she wanted to startle some unsuspecting fool.

"Hey!"

Phoenix Academy Maggie slapped his shoulder forcefully, shouting.

Aozawa turned his head. "Are you a child?"

"Huh, you've got nerves of steel."

Phoenix Academy Maggie withdrew her hand, a flicker of suspicion in her eyes. Normally, anyone would be startled by a sudden clap on the shoulder.

Unless he had somehow known she was approaching from behind.

"Did you know I was going to scare you?"

"Please, your blonde hair was clearly reflected in the window. I'm not blind."

Aozawa pointed.

Phoenix Academy Maggie glanced at her reflection in the glass, her expression unchanging as her self-perceived deductive prowess instantly plummeted from Sherlock Holmes to that of a rank amateur with a reasoning score of five.

"Ahem, never mind that. Do you know what happened in Kasai?"

Phoenix Academy Maggie quickly changed the subject. "It's terrifying! Tokyo has become so chaotic that people are being decapitated in broad daylight in crowded streets. Police and criminals are even exchanging gunfire in densely populated areas."

Aozawa nodded. "Indeed, it's utter lawlessness. The internet is already in an uproar."

Phoenix Academy Maggie pulled over a chair and sat down, leaning comfortably on his desk with her arms crossed. "Do you think Dio will intervene?"

"Perhaps only he himself knows the answer to that question," Aozawa replied offhandedly.

Phoenix Academy Maggie's eyes narrowed slightly as she played her trump card. "I also want to meet Dio. I hope he can cure my family's hereditary illness."

A look of surprise crossed Aozawa's face. "Are you sick?"

Phoenix Academy Maggie found his question a bit odd but didn't press the issue. Instead, she rested her head on her hands, tilted it, and smiled. "I'm not sure if I have it. I told you before about my father's death, right?

The Phoenix Academy family has monthly health check-ups, but my father's illness was hidden so deep it was never detected. That's why he died young."

Aozawa's expression turned serious. Phoenix Academy Maggie's willingness to speak of her father indicated she wasn't bluffing.

"What kind of illness?"

Phoenix Academy Maggie laughed. "It's a rare hereditary condition called Acute Sudden Death Syndrome.

It's not related to stress or physical condition; I think it's related to the brain. People just suddenly drop dead at a certain age, at a certain time, without any warning whatsoever."

Aozawa's tone held a note of displeasure. "Hey! Don't speak of something so terrifying so casually!"

Phoenix Academy Maggie chuckled and sat up straight. "Haha, no need to be so tense. I might not have inherited the disease at all. Of course, it would be even better if Dio could appear and check for me."

She smiled playfully. This was something she had decided to reveal after long deliberation.

If Aozawa had no connection to Dio, then revealing this would do nothing but add to her worries. However, if he was connected to Dio, then even if it meant exposing Aozawa's identity, Dio would appear before her and treat her. She had to know the answer.

"You definitely aren't sick," Aozawa assured her, thinking to himself that this young lady was still underestimating Superpower Users. To cure an illness, or even inflict one, he didn't need to reveal himself. He could operate as an intangible breeze or in the non-existent state of Schrödinger's Cat. He simply had to choose to act while Phoenix Academy Maggie was asleep, and he wouldn't be discovered. Aozawa found himself wishing night would come sooner.
