Chapter 232 Collapse of the False World_1
After lunch, Aozawa washed his bento box at the sink and then put it back in his desk drawer.
He left the academic building and found a secluded spot to use Schrödinger's Cat, entering a state of non-existence that made his body semi-transparent.
With a thought, he left the school and appeared at Black Hive Prison.
At this moment, the prison was already surrounded by the military.
All traffic to this location was forcibly blocked.
Several military helicopters hovered back and forth in the sky, claiming to be conducting a temporary military exercise.
Officially, it was a joint exercise between the Self-Defense Forces and the U.S. Army, but in reality, it was U.S. Forces Japan.
Several tanks were lined up around the perimeter of the prison, their barrels pointed directly inside.
Outside the prison, temporary tents housed the CIA, Brigadier General Sammy from the Seventh Fleet who was assisting with the blockade, representatives from the six major consortiums, the Minister of State, and Phoenix Academy Kochou—all gathered here.
"According to Shirakawa Yu's testimony, before they left, the doors to every cell were supposed to be covered with a jelly-like, semi-transparent membrane," a colonel stationed there began to explain the situation. "Now, the entrances to the prison cells are empty. Soldiers have searched all the cells without discovering anything unusual. The signal jamming inside the prison still hasn't ceased. However, the intense interference remains within the prison walls; communication outside is completely unaffected. We can't pinpoint the source of the interference. Instrument detection shows the entire prison lit up with red dots. As for the life-or-death status of the special task force, we can't draw any conclusions. We don't know what they encountered, but it's certain they must have experienced something similar to those prisoners."
"Should we try to destroy the prison?" Sammy raised his hand, offering a rather blunt suggestion.
Jack glanced at him and drawled, "If destroying it causes any problems, who's going to take responsibility? Are you?"
This question immediately silenced Sammy. It wasn't that there were no solutions, but rather that it was unclear which would be effective. No one dared to act rashly, fearing it might trigger an unimaginable situation.
"We don't know if this situation is related to Dio, or if it's an anomaly that occurred independently of Dio. We can only wait for news from the special task force," a gentle voice arose, infusing the still air with a hint of sweetness.
Jack glanced at Kochou, silently commending her. Her figure and demeanor were truly irresistible to men, perfectly matching his every fantasy of a wife—intelligent, mature, elegant, and beautiful.
"Indeed. All we can do now is wait for news. The White House is also waiting for our update. We hope the special task force will return safely." Jack spoke with no trace of insincerity; he genuinely felt it would be a great pity if anything untoward had happened to the task force. Emily was an excellent partner. Losing her meant that many future issues might require the Special Intelligence Investigation Department to intervene personally.
Aozawa observed the group discussing and, with a thought, appeared directly inside the prison. He had changed the entry and exit point to a place no one would think of—the top of a toilet's flush tank.
Aozawa tried to enter but found that in his Schrödinger's non-existent state, he couldn't penetrate the Different Space. As a test, he transformed into Dio and switched to an existing state. He then reached out to touch the entrance but still failed to break through. Instead, the entrance merely rippled like water.
He pondered for a moment, guessing that the illusory space created by Hypnosis wouldn't allow someone who knew it was false to enter. In other words, only those who didn't know the Different Space was illusory could enter it. He could only remain outside and, through the internal hypnotic space, generate characters he could control to act indirectly within the Different Space. His real body couldn't enter.
It's like playing a game, Aozawa thought, not forcing himself to enter.
He switched back to the non-existent state of Schrödinger's Cat.
Inside the Different Space, Emily and the others hurried non-stop to Milante's Royal Capital, Wyndham.
Once there, the desolation they had previously seen on the ground was gone. Instead, they saw villages and endless wheat fields.
Outside the city walls of the Royal Capital, Wyndham, there was a wide moat, roughly thirty feet across, with a heavy wooden bridge connecting the inside and outside.
When the wooden bridge was lowered, the city gates opened, and thundering cheers erupted on both sides. The people loudly welcomed the heroes' return.
Emily watched this scene, feeling the vitality and exuberance of the capital. Some women even threw their undergarments, and some members of the Hawk Band pulled women from the crowd to interact with them on the spot, eliciting even more cheers.
Emily blushed slightly and quickly averted her eyes, muttering, "They really have no shame."
Katerina, who had experience as a mercenary, understood them and laughed. "It's normal. If you live not knowing whether you'll survive the next battle, it's natural to want to have fun while you can."
"This world is cruel." Morimoto Chiyoda sighed heavily, her gaze sweeping over the medieval-style town.
As the Hawk Band made their way into The Palace, they were settled in a side hall, awaiting an audience with the Princess.
"I'm a bit hungry." Emily rubbed her stomach. She hadn't been riding actively, but the jostling on horseback had still made her hungry.
Morimoto Chiyoda chuckled softly. "If there are no surprises, we'll be able to go back and have a big meal soon. The information we bring back will surely surprise those at the top."
"Do we have any information?" Okayama Buji asked curiously. He had no time to exchange information with Emily during the horse ride.
Emily waved her hand. "Let Morimoto tell you. I want to save my energy."
Morimoto Chiyoda relayed Emily's words exactly.
This information left everyone present dumbfounded.
Miyaji Yosuke swallowed hard and said with a wry smile, "Is it too late for me to start believing in God now?"
"Haha," Kitanotake laughed heartily. "I'm afraid it is too late, but it doesn't matter. There are too many people in this world who don't believe in God. Even Dio, who is an Angel Envoy, doesn't believe. God won't be so petty as to send unbelievers to Hell."
"You should believe once you know; the ignorant are not at fault." Being a bit older, Miyaji Yosuke thought to himself, It's probably best to believe, just to be safe. He didn't want to end up in Hell after he died. Even though he didn't know which God it was, he still wanted to maintain reverence and faith in Him. God is God.
As the special task force exchanged information, a tall, black-haired swordsman with an oversized sword on his back appeared outside the hall and said expressionlessly, "Follow me."
"Stop talking, let's go." Emily beckoned to them and quickly followed, asking, "May I know your name?"
"Gus." The man's words were very brief as he strode powerfully forward.
"Mr. Gus, is Mr. Griffith busy with something?"
"Hmm, the King has something to discuss with him." Gus's replies were concise yet not cold; he answered any question asked. If not questioned, he would remain silent.
Emily kept asking questions until they reached the high tower where the Princess resided, at which point she stopped her string of inquiries.
The Princess of Milante stood on the steps. She wore a beautiful western-style dress, had short hair that covered her ears, and a delicate face. In a gentle voice, she said, "You must be the Wanderers that Lord Griffith spoke of."
"Yes, Your Highness," Emily nodded.
"Stand there holding hands, and I will use my divine power to send you back."
"Hey, everyone hold hands." Morimoto Chiyoda took Emily's hand on her left and Katerina's on her right, and the others also joined hands.
As the Princess raised her right hand and executed her divine power, a soft glow emanated from the ground. The familiar sensation reminded Morimoto Chiyoda of the disorienting feeling she had when she first entered this world.
The next second, everyone disappeared.
In the great hall of The Palace, Aozawa, manipulating Griffith, looked up and murmured, "It's time for this to end."
The aged King looked somewhat surprised. "Griffith, what are you talking about?"
"I'm saying this game is over." Ignoring the King's confusion, Griffith turned and walked outside, looking at the vast world before him.
Darkness rose from the distance.
The Will-o'-the-wisp Ability was failing.
This world, too, was coming to an end.
"What's happening?" "The sky is so dark!"
At first, there was some panic in the Royal Capital, Wyndham, but as the darkness enveloped everything, the panic completely vanished. All speech stopped, and everyone merged into the profound darkness.
Such an end was truly staggering.
Aozawa felt a bit of regret as he sensed the demise of Griffith in the Different Space, like the disappointment of quitting an enjoyable game.
Suddenly, the radar's constant BEEPING stopped, and everything returned to normal.
The source of the signal interference in the prison disappeared.
Jack jolted to his feet and yelled, "Quick, see if anyone has appeared inside the prison!"
The U.S. Army soldiers stationed outside immediately stormed into the prison.
Kochou also stepped out of the tent along with Jack and the others.
The sky showed not the slightest hint of morning's haze. Brilliant sunlight spilled over the land.
They hadn't reached the prison entrance before a U.S. soldier quickly ran out. Having forgotten he could now use communication devices, he opted for the primitive method and shouted, "We've found the members of the task force! Not a single one is dead!"
Receiving this news, Jack's face lit up with joy. "That's fantastic!"
After a moment, Jack turned and said, "You guys wait here." He hadn't forgotten that he had to be the one to deliver the firsthand information to Director John; he couldn't let them get it first.
The representatives of the six major consortiums looked helpless, and the Minister of State could only remain silent.
With a beaming smile, Kochou said, "Minister Jack, may I accompany you?"
"Of course," Jack replied with a smile, not because he coveted Kochou's beauty, but because the MacArthur Family stood behind her. The six major consortiums considered Phoenix Academy half an outsider. The CIA, on the other hand, considered Phoenix Academy half one of their own. A significant portion of the CIA's annual budget was provided by Phoenix Academy.
