Tokyo: From Lawless Madpolice to Minister

Chapter 681: Leveled to the Ground, Scattered Everywhere

In the overgrown field, a solitary, dilapidated three-story building was completely surrounded by police.

The building's entrance had been blown down, and looking inside from the outside, only some old tables and chairs were visible, seemingly devoid of any people.

"They don't seem to have a plan for a new attack," Allen said, glancing out from the gap in the window. At that moment, his face was covered with a urine-soaked cloth, as he knew the police's assault would definitely involve tear gas, so he made a protective tool from available materials.

Smith, similarly covered with a damp cloth, snorted coldly and said, "Until tried, we are not criminals but active-duty American soldiers. How dare these Japanese kill us? And we have heavy weapons in our hands; they definitely wouldn't dare to attack rashly in the short term, or it would just be sending men to their deaths."

"But we don't have much food and water, and we can't hold out for long if we keep being surrounded like this!" Allen frowned and said.

"Don't worry." Smith, full of confidence, reassured, "They can't just keep surrounding us without making a move. The journalists and public opinion won't accept it, and this isn't Aoyama Xiu Xin's style. Take the opportunity to rest well; the game has just begun."

"Who's responsible for the person just blown up?" Allen immediately remembered this key issue.

"Of course, it's mine," Smith said without hesitation, "the booby trap was set by me. Whoever sets it is responsible for it; is there any dispute about that?"

"Shit! If I had known, I would've set the trap myself," Allen muttered angrily after hearing this.

This was totally just picking up a clean kill.

Time ticked by, and in a flash, half an hour had passed since the two were surrounded. Nakamura Shinichi finally returned, carrying a package over to Aoyama Xiu Xin, "Director, it's all American goods."

He opened the zipper, revealing about twenty or so live grenades used by the US Army.

"Ha, maybe it's the US Army in Japan themselves selling it off opportunistically. Now it's returned to them," Aoyama Xiu Xin sneered.

The black market can't have all the arms smuggled from abroad, as the scale is too small, making the profit too low. More often, some departments secretly sell them under the guise of being scrapped.

The Land Guard had someone doing this, and after being discovered, the Land Guard Staff dealt with it sternly.

Then the Staff organized large-scale smuggling of some "eliminated" weapons abroad, and Aoyama Xiu Xin was also involved, making a fortune.

The Land Guard has rarely complained to the Cabinet about increasing military spending in recent years. The Cabinet thought the Land Guard finally calmed down, never suspecting that the fact they weren't actively asking for money was the scariest part.

Framing wrong cases, embezzlement, loan sharking, colluding with the Maritime Security Bureau for bilateral smuggling of various goods, conspiring with the Land Guard to misappropriate military funds to invest and sell stored weapons as overstock or scrap, colluding with violent gangs to run various gray industries, conspiring with bureaucrats to set up shell companies to defraud state infrastructure funds allocated to Hokkaido...

Any of the charges against Aoyama Xiu Xin could get him the death penalty, but with so many crimes, if any day the corruption is exposed, he truly won't die.

No one would dare to detonate this bomb.

Except himself.

"Throw them directly in," Aoyama Xiu Xin said.

"Yes!" Nakamura Shinichi responded, immediately grabbing a bag of grenades and turning to select throwers.

Although hundreds of pairs of eyes were watching.

Aoyama Xiu Xin was still unbothered.

He had worked his way up from the grassroots in the Police Headquarters, his father-in-law was the previous director, and he was confident the current Police Headquarters were his people. No one would dare speak indiscreetly, and even if they did, there wouldn't be any evidence.

"Smith, look quickly, what are they up to?"

Allen saw through the slits of the window that ten or so police officers suddenly started advancing with riot shields.

"I don't understand." Smith glanced and was puzzled, but the next second his pupils shrank sharply.

Because those ten or so individuals simultaneously revealed grenades.

"Shit!" The two of them cursed in unison, eyes wide open in shock. Were these police insane, daring to use grenades to blow them up? Smith immediately screamed with rage, "Damn it! You can't do this! This is illegal!"

Only now did he understand that these bastards halted their attack just now because they were fetching grenades.

Aoyama Xiu Xin's eyes showed mockery, and he gestured to take the loudspeaker and asked, "What, want to call the police?"

"Bullshit! We surrender! We surrender!" Smith quickly surrendered, damn it; these guys dared to bring grenades, who dared to bet they wouldn't throw them?

"No," Aoyama Xiu Xin casually responded, then commanded, "Kill them."

After saying that, he tossed the communicator to his subordinates.

"Throw!"

Almost immediately, more than ten police officers pulled the pins and threw their grenades.

A few didn't throw accurately, bouncing off the window frame, but many more landed directly inside.

"Shit fuck! That bastard! Get down!"

Smith and Allen were filled with rage.

"Boom!" "Boom!" "Boom!"

Amidst the deafening explosions, dust clouds several meters high enveloped everyone's sight. When the dust settled, the three-story building was reduced to rubble, with several fires still burning, emitting black smoke.

Watching this scene, the hundreds of police officers present were speechless and deeply shocked. Could anyone survive inside after a building was completely leveled?

Working under Director Aoyama, this is truly thrilling.

Isn't counter-terrorism less brutal than this?

"Check if anyone's alive and drag the bodies out," Aoyama Xiu Xin said calmly.

"Yes!"

A team of armed police cautiously approached the ruins, digging through the debris.

"Report! One dead!"

"Director, there's another with a pulse."

Allen was blown to bits on the spot, his body scattered around in pieces.

Smith had slightly better luck. Somehow, he managed to take cover, and though both arms were blown off, he was still breathing.

Covered in dust and bloodied, the disheveled Smith lay weakly in the rubble, blood trickling from his mouth. From his perspective, he saw Aoyama Xiu Xin, dressed in a black suit, tall and composed, striding towards him, with a group of police officers following suit.

Finally, those slightly dusty leather shoes stopped beside him. Smith strained his neck just enough to look up into Aoyama Xiu Xin's dispassionate eyes. Driven by a strong survival instinct, he instinctively tried to raise his hand... but he had no hand. He opened his mouth with difficulty: "Save... save me... I'm a U.S. Army Captain... you... you can't kill me."

"Oh." Aoyama Xiu Xin chuckled, lifted his expensive leather shoe, and began to press hard on the stump of Smith's arm, blood pooling out, his face showing a hint of ferocity and mockery, "A U.S. Army Captain? Just a pile of shit."

"Ahhhh!" Smith let out a piercing scream, his features twisting, his weak body even mustering enough strength to thrash around. The scream lasted about thirty seconds before he took his last breath and died on the spot.

Aoyama Xiu Xin withdrew his foot, and Nakamura Shinichi immediately squatted down upon seeing this, pulling out a handkerchief from his pocket to wipe most of the blood from the sole of his shoe and some splattered on the shoe's surface, then pocketed the handkerchief and stood up.

Damn! No wonder this kid can always progress with Director Aoyama. The others, watching this scene, despised such shameless flattery in their hearts, while also chiding themselves for not having thought of it.

Just then, the sound of engines roaring approached.

Aoyama Xiu Xin instinctively turned his head to look.

"It's the reporters," Nakamura Shinichi said.

No need for him to say, Aoyama Xiu Xin had already seen the logos on those vehicles. "Let them come over."

"Yes!" Nakamura Shinichi promptly went to pass on the order.

Soon, a group of reporters hurriedly ran over.

"Director Aoyama, what happened here?"

"Director Aoyama, are those two bodies the bandits who attacked the police on the highway?"

"Director Aoyama..."

Aoyama Xiu Xin raised his hand slightly, and after the scene quieted a bit, he said in a deep voice, "Yes, these two were the bandits who attacked the police on the highway. They were also the two U.S. Military Officers, Lieutenant Allen and Captain Smith, who assaulted civilians."

The reporters were shocked and bewildered by this statement, not understanding how the two cases became one.

"What? What's going on here?"

"Director Aoyama, please explain to everyone!"

Aoyama Xiu Xin exhaled, and with a pained and angry expression, said, "About two hours ago, we received information that two armed bandits attacked two police officers on the highway and fled. Immediate arrangements were made to intercept them at key points, eventually cornering them here. They resisted fiercely, proclaiming their U.S. military identity to deter us from taking full action. But they miscalculated."

"I don't care about their identities. What matters is our identity! We are the police of Japan! Lawbreakers will be prosecuted, and law enforcement must be strict! Therefore, a full-on assault was launched. During the attack, one officer was killed, and two were injured by their grenades."

"Later, somehow, just as I was organizing a second attack, a massive explosion occurred inside the building, killing them on the spot. Preliminary speculation suggests it was caused by grenades on them, which can be considered as divine justice, otherwise, who knows how many lives would have been lost trying to capture these heavily armed and professionally trained military personnel."

"As for why these two attacked the police when they agreed to surrender at the US Army Headquarters in Japan, further investigation is needed. However, I believe this is just their personal action and not representative of the US forces stationed in Japan. The public should view this rationally."

Still, it was necessary to publicly speak for the US forces, making it seem like his body was in the Japanese camp while his heart was with the Americans.

"Si Guoyi! So that's how it is! Surely they didn't want to surrender and were trying to escape when the police recognized them, which is why they attacked! That's got to be it!"

One reporter speculated emphatically.
