Chapter 4: Starting Off Weak???
'What the hell? Are cards changed?'
"Oh? Would ya looky here! We got some pretty good cards!" Hara has a excited look on his face as he looks at the multiple scorpion cards and the Wanderer Of The Red Desert I got. "I don't really know how to play, but! I know that the elepant looking card you pulled is really strong!"
Hara ties to uplift my spirit as I have a bewildered look on face upon looking at my cards. 'First off these cards are trash! I kinda expected that since I'm in the orginal DM era but I only got one good normal summon being Worm Drake! How could this be?'
As the gears turn in my head Hara lays out both of our cards and starts to go through the manual he was handed by the clerk. "So first we've got to make a deck of 40-60 cards and then we'll blah, blah blah, blaaaah."
Not listening to the salary man at all I attempt to come to terms with these cards. '...There has to be an explanation for how bad these cards are!....What year is it? It can't be the year Yugi and the gang goes off to duelist island...Is this power creep?'
"Mister Hara? What year is it?" Suddednly speaking in the middle of his explanation Hara stops but answers my question without a fuss. "It's 1986? Why did you forget or something? I know I did! The new year just passed and I haven't gotten used to it either!"
"Yeah I forgot..."
'Oh shit, power creep! The dreadful thing that made be quit my dream of playing Yu-Gi-Oh! competitively!...I've got to say it is well thought out, Pegasus really made usre that this game wouldn't die out no matter what.'
"Well I think I've got the just of it! Do you understand or do you need me to read it again?" Shaking my head no Hara gets up from seat and starts to organize and put together all of the cards into two 42 card decks. "Alright now to start it says that we need to both say duel and the same time."
"Ok, Mister Hara!"
"3."
"2."
"1!"
"(2x) Duel!"

"Why's a kid so much better than me!" Pounding the table slightly Hara whines after his 6th loss of the night. "Your not bad Mister Hara! I've just been getting lucker than you!" Trying to encourge him just sinks him into a deeper depression as he whines over his losses. 'I want to say he's not that bad, but he sucks. I mean it's one thing to not have the luck of the draw and its another to somehow kill yourself on the 5th turn...'
Collecting back the cards from the graveyard I shuffle my cards back into my deck in preperation for a new round but Hara doesn't do the same. "Kid your so much better than me its not even funny...Listen I probably won't be here for the rest of the week, but you should take these cards, cause next time I'm here I'll want a rematch!..." Hara speaks with a lower tone that while still has his overall positive energy its more diminished.
"Kid, you've got potental and I can see it, I don't just mean in this card game. You've got this fire that pops up whenever you find something to put your mind to. Just keep t up and you'll probably end up way better than me!" That last part is said with a twinge of regret, something that he probably hoped that I didn't notice.
"T-thank you Sir! I'll do my best!"
Getting up Hara collects his trash and the plastic from the card pack while continueing to talk. "Good, if you do your best than you'll have no regrets by the time everythings over...Anyway I'll see you next week ok? I left a little something in the other bag for ya!"
Walking away from the table he throws the trash away as he shivers and covers his arms while crossing the street. 'Didn't he have a coat?' Shaking my head I get up and grab the cards with me thankfully after our 3rd match Hara bought two deck boxes for us, so I put the cards in there.
Walking around the table and getting to his chair a bag is sitting there just like he said. 'What he'd get me? He didn't buy anything else right?' Looking inside of the bag lies a fluff coat. It's brown in color with a nice furry interior, its easy to tell that it's probably pretty expensive.
'.....He's really a good guy...' Grabbing the coat out of the bag I try it on, but as to my expectations its way to big and hits the ground as I wear it.
Feeling something wet touch my hand as I go up to rub my red nose I look down with blurry vision. 'I'm crying?' Wipping my eyes a couple of times I hurry up and grab the rest of the stuff before making my way back to the alley way I woke up in.
'I didn't notice it but I'm pretty tired...I guess it is really late now.' Upon getting into the alley I see a slush fest of dirty snow and ice with the only visible clean and not wet spot being the area around where I first got up in the first place.
'How ironic..' Sitting down on the very thin layer of snow and cardboard I wrap the coat bigger coat around myself and attempt to relax. 'Damn...It's cold...But the extra coats helping I guess..'
Gaining a small smile that hits my face without me even knowing I eventally get to sleep due the few lights still on shutting off and just leaving me with a somehow comforting sound of a broken but still humming fan.
