Chapter 61: Accomplish
"..." Back at the giant sycamore tree, Iosif was silent and shook. One of his oldest friends had died just like that...
That man whose head roled for a moment then crumbled away, was closer to Iosif than even his own family, after all, they had known each other for more than a few thousand years, though it might even be ten thousand years.
Similarly, both Elah and Xalier were silent, they had no words nor even thoughts in mind. They knew and heard many things, these old things... both were incredibly strong individuals but, they just died like that, from their precious child's hands at that...
The hands... small hands reaching out to them, asking for a warm embrace, now rather it was clutching at a spear with untold might, ready to take a life...
A few days ago they were here, on these plains just paying, training, and joking around but now... Everything turned to chaos...
Their son died then he came back... And now he is standing there like someone completely different.
At first, they even thought some might have taken over his body, but that was not right, they would have felt it even more right now as their powers were heightened to levels they never reached before.
They were lost with no words of help in mind.
"What..." And amidst the still hazy minds, the strongest one became clear the fastest and was the one to call out, after seeing a monster of such extent, this was the only reasonable thing to do.
"...?" Elah and Xalier turned to the sky, above them the man who was the perpetrator of everything here stood still...
"What... What kind of monster did the two of you bring to this world!?" Iosif's face was distorted with anger and rage. The mixed emotions in the form of energy flared towards Temorsth's parents.
"...!" Quit far away, feeling the blast of the explosion, Temorsth was about to use his strengthened Shadow Step but...
"Guh...!" A cough, followed by blood dripping down to the ground, slowly flowing from both his eyes and nose like a fountain of red tears, sorrow, and pain, covered his white face.
'I'm dying...' The same thing that has happened for that Vampire Elder was happening to Temorsth with a slight difference.
The Elder was completely incompatible with the energy flow the spell had but Temorsth was close to being his Unique Ability's perfect host.
Then why is Temorsth hurt by it? Simple, his meridians and all other Energy Veins are far too narrow, even if they have perfect compatibility the amount of energy needed and used is much more than his body could handle, simply put, he is too weak.
"Grh..." And Temorsth knew that too...
'You can't not stop me!' It irritated and annoyed him. His weakness, right now he was supposed to be strong... Yet he is weak...
'You... Don't think I can't see you!' That freaking red veil, it was right before his eyes, flowing him around like it was waiting for a moment, a moment of weakness.
"Gr..." *Sigh...* But before long, with a deep sigh, he calmed his mind.
Before anyone could see anything of his weakness and even before The Voice could speak of it, Temorsth dragged his palm across his face, through his magic all semblance of damage dissipated and dispersed like he was never even harmed.
"You lowly things!"
"...!?" Temorsth's resounding shout drew the attention of both enemies and allies even before he appeared there.
"You lowlifes!" Temorsth's dark blazing form surfaced in front of the two enemies.
"You, how dare you!?" Though it surprised them for a moment, their composure recovered quickly.
And strangely, like their previous fear and doubt didn't even happen, their arrogant faces were gimmicking with annoyance and anger.
'They don't have fear... How, even if I made a slight mistake, I still recovered within a fraction of a second.' Temorsth wondered for a moment.
'This arrogant kid's presence is so imposing and pressing, it is even somehow heavy... If not for feeling his energy fluctuations it would be hard to control my screaming instincts.' Both Iosif and the ancient elf were on the same page.
"Though this magic of existence is strange, your strength did not rise one bit, you are still just a punny... Mortal!"
'...! They did realise it... Then, I need a change of plans.' Temorsth was shrouded in the dark, he was close to a genius with mostly only needing one glance at things and he could learn it but his parents did not teach the fluctuation of energy, right now he couldn't even see it and as such, he wasn't taught how to control it yet.
It was simply left for him to discover on his own when the time came, and this parental love that could even be called negligence was biting at his plans.
"Fret not, kid!" While raising his arm above himself, Iosif's speech resounded.
"I will leave your corps intact, I need it as evidence to be able to kill your shitty parents."
"...!!!" His face distorted...
"If you want to be angry, be angry at them, they are the useless ones who stand behind you." Looking down at the ground, behind a screen of smoke, Elah and Xalier stood up, tattered and beaten, too tired to even raise their voice.
[Host this is rather dangerous.]
"Son! Cover yourself!" At the same time as Xalier called out in desperation, while using both of their remaining dwindling energy Elah brought forth a barrier around their child.
Following this, with Iosif's downward hand motion, a white lightning bolt in the form of a waving blade struck down from the heavens.
"...!" Dust rose into the sky...
"...!" The scent of the burned earth sent shivers down his parent's back.
'He died, right?' Iosif's gaze searched the grey scenery.
"...!?" And amidst the waving clouds, a red glow... Temorsth's eyes were unwavering, solely focused on the two of them.
[It is such a great idea, to use the changing powers of mastery through the Unique Ability inherited from the mother and shift it to Lightning... Marvelous, how does the Host do these things? Wasn't the Host rather young?]
*Crackle* With the low crackles of the electric currents around his now metal spear...
[Hmh... My Host, according to your actions, you have around two more minutes before you run out of all your LP.] His system continued with its possible support.
'Two...' But now, rather than counting the moments... He was engraving the two faces onto a picture, a picture with many crossed-out faces already on it.
"How did he...? Ugh, those arrogant eyes, die you little shit!" The pricing gaze hurt the ancient elf thing's pride, making him fire a blast of fiery hot energy at Temorsth.
"...!?" But even through the fire, Temorsth's burning visage was still and unmoving only now with both lightning and fire flowing around his spear and body.
"No! How do such things happen, this is unreasonable, why does the world allow this!?"
'Does that spear have another power...? No, I felt no such energy from it... Fuck, is this something that could be counted as his own!?' While the elf got lost in his rage, Iosif was still attempting to comprehend the full extent of this monster when...
"You... will die by my hands, filthy... Mortals!" Temorsth's low voice was chilling, shaking their soul, strange and unnerving.
"Mortal!? Guk... Who do you think you are!?" But still their arrogance, their thousands of years old legacy did not let these mocking words go by.
"This battle, this war, it is far beyond the comprehension of someone like you!"
"Beyond? Me?"
*Gahahahahh*
"There are beings far, far above us you are nothing, a nobody!"
"Hmh, I suppose you talk about the gods of this world. Then, I will tell you, and to everyone who's listening, if you stand in our way... if I need to... We will kill, kill every single one of ya, even the very gods!!!"
"Wha..."
"I'm a being brought out by the world's anger itself, the worthlessness of your existence... It... You... annoyed me enough!!!"
"Son...?" As Xalier and Elah looked at Temorsth standing in the burned crater, as smoke and dust floated out with his loud shouts, a strange feeling enveloped them like something was not quite right even for an already tricky situation like this one.
And as the atmosphere got heated, "Freez thy world..." A chilling low tune made Elah's eyes widen.
"This... It's my..." She questioned inside her mind, did she hear it right, did she see it right? Questions overwhelmed her mind, but before long, another tune followed.
"Burnt it... It's life and soul... Leave nothing behind!" A burst of purple flames...
"M-My fire?" Now it was Xalier who took a step back.
With Temrosth as its center, in a circle, fire and ice burst forth, on one side everything became covered in blue-white ice, on the other, the already burned forest flared up in purple flames!
'Hey! Weakling, did you not promise to not use this power!?' Inside, the loud voice shook the world.
'Feral... Yes, I did, to Father at that but...'
'Then, there is no but...!'
'No, there is!' Contrary to his typical calm demeanor, Persona was always heated when speaking with his brother... This was not different now either but, his words carried a rather heavy feel.
'I also promised to protect and hide all of you and everyone else important behind myself.'
'...!' Feral remembered such promise, all of them did and it truly did annoy him.
'You arrogant, you are weak if someone needs to do this it should be...!'
'Yes... I know that's why... Brother, please let me give this to you.'
'...!?'
'What are you saying, this power is yours...'
'Yes, but as you said, I'm the weakest, so be my arm and legs now and... unalive these motherfuckers!'
'...'
'Sigh... You are a crazy bastard yourself...'
'We are brothers after all...'
'Yeah... Alright, let's do it!'
As Feral's control returned, an even greater surprise unfolded in front of the onlookers.
"A heavenly blade... Strike down, slaughter, and sunder the filth of their forms!" Feral, while utilizing Persona's power summoned a roar, the sky screamed making it seem similar to what happened just a moment ago yet at the same time something was off.
{The Monster grasped his spear...}
But at this moment, before anyone could wonder further, The Voice proved their warning instincts correct.
*...!* An eerie, echoey silence, sadly this silence was truly just a calm before chaos...
The world turned upside down, the earth rose to the sky blocking out the sun, lightning and thunder shook the clouds, and rain of fire and ice created a dystopic gray hue of ash and snow.
{The Monster thrust only once, thunder and lightning, fire and ice, with that singular motion, an entire world crumbled to dust.}
"...!?" The thrust of Temorsth's spear, the energy of lightning and fire fired out followed by the flooding chill of ice, swept the world with it.
"..." In the great chaos, Iosif, despite hearing The Voice, did not realize it yet.
'This heavy air... This was my magic... And that fire and ice too was it theirs...?'
"...!?" The blast passed a single moment ago, and only as the disturbed waves of energy cleared somewhat, did he understand, the world that fell...
The words heard can't be baseless claims, as such there was only one world that stood right beside him.
"...!" His face distorted as no sign of this 'world' was felt.
'This ancient sack of bones... H-he passed!?'
In these realms, names aren't just for show and fancy, World Source, as the name of the Realm they are in implies, with only themselves they could already hold a world inside.
Lives of millions... Or even billions, dynasties and legacy, home and love...it was true. A World Source was truly the source of a world...
With the demise of this Ancient Elf, a world, almost a True World in itself disappeared as well.
"Th-The Heavens, the Gods themselves want this war to never end, you think you could end this with only us!?"
Iosif's hazy eyes looked at the small figure on the ground standing still, but in his eyes, this small being now was like an immovable giant.
"..." Temorsth said no words, he already knew there was no need to, only the once-disappeared wide and creepy smile showed up again.
"What... What are you... You would challenge even the Gods...?" The fear that disappeared now surfaced again, distorting his mind, and making an even more horrified complexion appear.
With no more allay in sight, Iosif was simply trying to drag out the moments in search of a way out of this, but his hazy mind was not in a position to accomplish such things.
