Chapter 25: The last time
"Huh... What is it...?" Temorsth noticed her strange gaze, which was trying to decipher his mind.
"Nothing..." Antanasia's problem was not with the method, but with his attitude.
'Is he, really crazy...?' This question arose because no sane person would think so lightly about their life.
"Oh! It's completely dark outside..." After a second of silence, Temprsth called out while looking out of the magical window, showing the back garden.
"Hmh... we should rest now, tomorrow I need to somehow learn that unique ability."
"...!?" 'Learn unique ability? So that was why he trained...' She didn't know the purpose of his training until now. When she arrived she only heard Temorsth ask for help and get rejected.
'The king's unique ability...' "Hmh... Wait, what kind of unique ability? Ah..." She was thinking, but by mistake, she asked out loud.
"Huh...? My dad's, his step doesn't consider space and travels a great distance to the location he wants." Though Temorsth was surprised for a moment, he answered readily.
'But... isn't that just Transcendence... Wait, isn't it the thing he used when we fought...'
"What is its name?" Since she realized she was allowed to ask and understood its form, she continued.
"World Crossing..." Temorsth tilted his head to the side, he was curious about what she was thinking.
'World Crossing, I had never heard of a unique ability with this name before... Did he evolve it that much... wait, no... don't tell me...' She was thinking if she would recognize the name of the unique ability after all, names are not unique until they didn't grow and evolved a few times with people.
There are only a few thousand original abilities with original names and while they grew they change their names and functions through evolution.
"Hmh...?" Seeing comprehension descend on Antanasia's face, Temorsth tilted his head to the other side.
'It is almost the same as Transcendence, but the distance he traveled was insane, at his level his Transcendence wouldn't be able to travel so much. Did he create a new unique ability...?' She understood the origin of Xalier's unique ability from the little information she got.
'This freakish monster... he hides his ability by playing it out like it is Transcendence, this is why it isn't known that he has it...' And she even understood how he used it while hiding it from others.
"An, what are you thinking about?"
"Oh nothing really, it's just... your dad is a real freak, to create a new unique ability... It's purely insane."
'Create...?' His eyebrow rose from hearing something interesting, but he didn't bother to ask.
'Dad created his unique ability...' Temorsth already understood that whatever he thought was almost always right. If she said create then it most likely meant truly create, through years of training and practice.
'Whatever you imagine might be already real in this or some other world...' He was finally grasping the meaning of Aidana's teaching, which told the rules of The Realms.
"Uh...? Why... Why are you getting undressed!?" While Antanasia turned her head and called out with an embarrassed expression, Temorsth just stayed in his thoughts with a thinking look.
"Don't you want to rest now?" He asked back, while he took off his shirt and pants.
When he took off everything, except his underwear, a slight outburst of energy in the form of fire happened. Temorsth didn't need to bathe after he learned how to use his energy to cleanse his body.
"It still feels strange..." When the energy dissipated, he was as clean as when he was new.
"Yes I would like, but why get undressed?" Seeing that he finished, she continued.
"I like to rest in only underwear. What, can't I?"
"No, I was just... nothing, sorry for asking."
"Wher do I...?" Seeing Temorsth get into his king-sized bed, she was left confused.
"Here..." While Temorsth had an inviting look on his face as he hit the space on his right.
"Uh?" A puzzled expression appeared.
"Hmhmh..." Seeing her cute reaction, a chuckle surfaced.
"You... really... How old are you...?" Hearing his laughter, Antanasia's head cleared, but instead of getting mad, she just called him with a slightly raised voice.
"Old enough that I wouldn't do anything to a sleeping beauty beside me...for the entire night."
"..." Teamorsth's sly smile, that appeared while he said the words, shut Antanasia's mouth.
"I appreciate the offer, but I would like to decline..."
"Hm? Your loss, not mine..." He said while shrugging his shoulders and rising his arms.
*sigh* Antanasia touched her chest as she had a small sigh of relief.
'Thank the progenitors...' She was a little agitated since she feared she would be forced to do something she didn't want, yet...
"Uh... Can I take the couch?"
"Of course, but my bed is more comfortable."
"Agh, can't you stop that, you little pervert!?"
*Hmhm...* As Temorsth closed his eyes with a chuckle, the magical light-blue crystal on the ceiling slowly darkened.
'This is pleasantly similar...' As he drifted into a meditation-like state, he had a feeling of reminiscence in his mind.
...
"Do you remember her...?" In a world swallowed by darkness and despair.
"Do you remember them...?" A Great Monster spoke to a young creature.
In complete darkness, the young creature was sitting while holding both of his legs.
"Blue..." As his eyes reflected a blue world, he shuddered from the pain of his body being squeezed.
*Ugh...* It looked like he was compressed to an oval shape, so much so that he couldn't even move a finger.
"..." Yet, regardless of the insane amount of pain, the young creature just gazed at his blue world.
"Don't you remember it now!?" Seeing his empty stare, the Great Monster raised his voice.
"I..." *cough*cough...* He was interrupted by red liquid gushing out of his mouth.
"I... don't know..."
"What, you'll give up, now?"
"I..."
"You have fought against all odds, and you will give up now!?"
"I... Who am I...?"
"..." To the words, silence answered, but then...
*Ugh...*cough...* A pressure far greater than the one he felt until now appeared.
"You!" With the loud grinding of teeth, anger was expressed.
"I...?" An innocent-sounding question was asked with a pained voice.
"Don't you remember them!? The ones who condemned us... to this... to this... ABOMINATION!?"
"I-I'm sorry..."
"...!?"
"I'm sorry..."
"..."
"I'm... sorry..."
"Why..."
"I'm..." *COUGH* Red flooded the world of darkness.
"Why don't you... remember?" With the sentence, the Great Monster's voice slowly lost its power.
"I... Tell me... who am I..."
"..." As silence ensued one more time, the darkness felt empty and cold.
"Please... please..." Since the young creature shuddered, his words were similarly shaky.
"This will be..." The Great Monster's voice was low and quiet, it had lost all its motivation that was apparent a moment ago.
"Thank... you."
"...the last time."
"..." The monster's last words made the creature's eyes tremble.
"He..." As the Great Monster continued his story, despair, hope, fear, and desire, emotions filled the empty darkness.
Neither the monster nor the creature knew whose which was, but they both knew one thing...
If this time it doesn't succeed... it truly will be, The End.
...
"If I want to be back as early as possible, I have to leave now, sorry son..." Xalier stood up from the table with the words.
Temorsth stood up after his father, "Ah! Dad, you always run..." but he couldn't finish his sentence and Xalier was already nowhere to be seen.
"Ugh...I didn't get any details..." They were talking just now, to be exact Temorsth told what he thought out to learn his ability, but Xalier run away before they could speak about anything concrete.
"Huh? Don't worry, dad will get her safe, you even gave dad a talisman to show he is a friend." Temorsth felt the chaotic emotions so he turned around to face the source of it.
"Uhm... I hope so..." Anastasia nodded, but her eyes showed uncertainty.
'Sis... please don't cause any problem...'
...
Outside the barrier.
"Sorry son but you need to understand it on your own." Xalier stood and looked at the invisible wall, then turned around to head to his destination.
"In this way, it might take a few years but in exchange, you will have the chance to discover something even I didn't and evolve it further than I, the creator did." Since Xalier too wanted to help his son, he traveled with monologues that tried to steady his mind and resolve.
After he traveled for half an hour, he was still above the forest, in a random-looking location as he called out. "Hm... It's here... Teleport!"
Since the whole forest, sky, and ground were turned into something like an invisible maze of arrays, that changed constantly, he too needed some time to get where he wanted.
"Hmh..." Opening his eyes and seeing a red and black shaded scenery. 'Red and black dirt... dying vegetation...'
"This time it's the south one..." The glowing blue array at his feet slowly dissipated as he recognized the location.
'I should create a few more random destinations...' As he was thinking about strengthening the defense even more, he pushed himself off the ground and started flying again.
...
An hour later...
Below the dark sky, not far from a giant black castle, Xalier stood silently.
"Uh..." As he looked at the mist that flowed around the several towers that reached high into the sky, he took a step with a troubled expression.
'Ugh...Silently...' He arrived right beside a big colored glass window, he took a careful step to arrive at the other side of it.
"Welcome back my King."
'Fuck...' "Oh, I didn't notice that..." Xalier turned around, to look at the opening door.
"Please elaborate, how could you not notice me standing outside, oh my great and mighty, King of Darkness..."
"Ugh... Kane old friend, don't be like that, I have to spend time with my family too..." Xalier touched the shoulder of the handsome pale man named Kane.
Kane brushed off Xalier's hand and then he pushed back his golden hair to adjust it.
Kane's eyes glowed red just like Xalier's, but in his some dislike showed, seeing it Xalier simply smiled at him after all, Kane was one of his most trusted and closest friends, he was even one of the few...
"I know, the Queen and the Prince are important, but you shouldn't postpone all the work... and put it on me." ...who knew about Elah and Temorsth and he actively supported their plan of stopping the war of vampires and elves.
"I know, sorry..." Xalier's apology was interrupted.
"No you don't, the counselor of the Bucur family almost skinned me, his meeting was postponed three times already."
'Ugh... That old man again...'
"And not even talking about the Dalca family's constant pestering, those irritating bastards find problems in everything and..."
"Alright, alright! I know, I will stay for a while and finish everything at hand."
