Changed a Destiny

As the evacuation boat moved, it headed toward Wall Rose.

Eren looked at the system interface.

Two Hours Before the Armored Titan Broke the Inner Gate

The chaos in Shiganshina had reached its peak. The Colossal Titan had already breached Wall Maria, allowing Titans to flood into the district. People screamed and ran for their lives, desperately trying to reach the evacuation boats. Smoke from burning buildings darkened the sky, turning the once-peaceful district into a nightmare.

Amidst the destruction, Grisha Yeager, Eren's father, was no longer in Shiganshina—he had left hours before the attack, heading deep into the forest outside the walls. He had known this day would come.

Clutching the key to the basement tightly in his hand, Grisha stood before his son, Eren Yeager.

Eren looked at his father in confusion. A while ago, he had been with his mother and Mikasa among the refugees. But now, his father had silently taken him here, away from them.

"So, what are we doing here? Isn't it dangerous?" Eren asked, growing uneasy.

Grisha knelt before his son, his voice heavy with urgency. "Eren, there's no time. You have to do this… You have to become stronger."

A shiver ran down Eren's spine. Something about his father's tone felt ominous.

'Damn, this is exactly why I never wanted to live a protagonist's life,' he thought bitterly.

He looked at his father with irritation and frustration. "W-What? What are you talking about?! We have to go back! Mom—"

Grisha grabbed Eren's shoulders, his eyes filled with pain. "Your mother…it's good she's alive, Eren. But the world is cruel. And you… you must fight. You have to carry this responsibility."

Taking a step back, Grisha revealed a syringe in his hands.

"When the time comes… go to the basement. You will learn everything."

Before Eren could react, Grisha injected him with the Titan serum.

A burning pain erupted through his veins as he collapsed to the ground, his body convulsing. His vision blurred, and his screams echoed in the empty forest.

'What the heck?! No! I have to loop—I have to kill my—'

But it was too late. His body began to change.

His teeth sharpened into fangs. His skin split apart. His bones stretched, and his flesh regenerated at an impossible speed.

In that moment, Eren Yeager transformed into a Titan.

Unlike the other mindless creatures rampaging through Shiganshina, Eren was different. Grisha Yeager stood before his Titan son and willingly allowed himself to be eaten.

With one swift bite, Grisha was gone—devoured by the very son he was trying to protect.

With that act, Eren inherited the power of the Attack Titan...

----

In his Titan state, Eren instinctively wandered toward Shiganshina, drawn by the chaos.

Like all Titans, he initially sought out humans. But before he could attack anyone, exhaustion took over. He collapsed, his body shifting back to human form.

A soldier found him unconscious and carried him toward the inner gate.

When Eren awoke, the first thing he saw was his mother, Carla, looking at him worriedly.

"Eren, are you feeling alright?" she asked gently.

Blinking, Eren sat up. His body felt… strange. When he touched his chest, he noticed something hanging around his neck—a key.

'Since when did I have this? Did I faint? I guess the mental exhaustion got to me,' he thought.

'Well, this will be useful for killing Titans. But I wonder how this system actually works…'

The evacuation boats drifted toward Wall Rose, carrying the last survivors of Shiganshina's fall. The air was filled with the cries of the wounded and the despair of those who had lost everything.

The massive gates loomed ahead, guarded by weary soldiers who watched in grim silence as thousands of refugees arrived.

Among the crowd, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin stood together.

When they reached the docks, soldiers immediately stepped forward, checking for injuries and directing people to makeshift shelters.

"Move along! Don't stop here!" a soldier barked, his face pale from exhaustion. The sudden influx of refugees was overwhelming, and supplies were already running low.

As they stepped onto solid ground, Armin's grandfather greeted them with relief.

"You four… you're safe," he said, pulling Armin into a hug. But his voice lacked warmth—he had just lost many friends and neighbors.

Eren barely listened. His gaze remained fixed on the enormous walls that now separated them from the horror beyond. Wall Rose. Their last defense.

Some distance away, Commander Dot Pixis observed the new arrivals. His sharp eyes scanned the refugees, noting their expressions—grief, fear, and the loss of hope. Beside him, a lower-ranking officer muttered, "How long until they realize that Wall Rose might not hold either?"

Carla scanned the crowd, but Grisha was nowhere in sight.

Hugging Eren and Mikasa, she broke down in tears, knowing she might never see him again.

Mikasa silently allowed herself to be embraced, but only she knew how mentally shattered she was. She had almost lost everything once more.

Eren wasn't much better. He had come from an era where most countries were at peace—at least when it came to their citizens. He had never seen anything like this.

Rage and hatred unlike anything he had ever felt before boiled within him.

But for now, the most important thing was survival. He had to take care of his mother and Mikasa. They needed a new place to live and food to eat.

The military wouldn't be able to help for long. Depending on them in this situation wasn't an good option.
