Chapter 19: Chapter 19: The Fragment’s Secret
"Divine!" Caelan's voice pulled her back to reality. He was at her side in an instant, his hands gripping her shoulders. "What just happened?"
She blinked at him, her breath uneven. "I saw something. A… a palace, and a jar filled with light."
Caelan's expression hardened. "You've started to remember."
Her heart raced. "Remember what?"
He released her, running a hand through his hair as he turned away. "Your past. The life you had before this one."
Divine stood, the shell fragment clutched tightly in her hand. "Why would I see that now? And what does it mean?"
Caelan hesitated, his jaw tightening. "It means you're closer to unlocking the truth. But it also means they'll come for you."
"Who?" she demanded, her voice rising.
Before Caelan could answer, the air grew cold, and a shadow fell over them. A figure emerged from the darkness, cloaked and menacing. The hood concealed their face, but the aura of power they exuded was unmistakable.
"You shouldn't have touched that fragment," the figure said, their voice low and dangerous.
Divine instinctively stepped back, but Caelan moved in front of her, shielding her with his body. "You're not welcome here," he said, his tone sharp.
The figure chuckled. "I'm not here for you, Caelan. I'm here for her."
Divine's grip on the fragment tightened. "Who are you?"
The figure tilted their head slightly, as if amused. "I am the Keeper of the Lost Tides, and you, Divine, have disrupted the balance."
