"What are you bunch of unsalvageable buffoons doing here? Did I not warn you not to come anywhere close to my restaurant? And where is that good-for-nothing leader of yours? I swear I'll pluck those twigs he calls legs and light my fireplace with them!"
Old man Shen looked at Zhi Luan and then at the man under his feet and was on the verge of puffing flames through his nose.
"You!! Didn't I ban you from my restaurant? You think I won't castrate you?"
Old man Shen went all out in his abuse. At some point, he felt it wasn't enough and grabbed the young man's ear, almost pulling it out. The young man tried to resist again, but Zhi Luan tilted his shoulder again, causing him to scream in agony.
Old man Shen turned to Zhi Luan,
"Let him go."
Zhi Luan did as he was instructed and let the young man go. If looks could kill, both Zhi Luan and old man Shen would have died countless times. The rest of the group helped their leader stand, all staring at Zhi Luan with intense hatred. The young man held his arm as though it would fall off if he didn't.
"You…"
He said over grit teeth.
"I'll make sure you pay for this, I swear it!"
Words weren't necessary anymore. The group simply left with the little dignity they had left, and the moment they did, the restaurant stirred. The customers whispered among themselves, and some came to old man Shen to explain what happened. Zhi Luan stood by the side as though what just happened had nothing to do with him. He heard from what people said that this had happened repeatedly, and old man Shen had tried many times to lock him up but failed.
"Everyone, please forgive the interruption. Don't let what happened dull your appetite. And as compensation, everyone is getting a discount for their meals."
In the end, old man Shen knew how to handle the situation effectively. He quickly calmed the minds of his customers and even approached the customer who stood up to defend Yu Lu initially and gave him a full discount for his meal.
Yu Lu had tears flowing down her cheeks from embarrassment. Old man Shen had her in his embrace as he quickly brought her away from the restaurant into the kitchen. He exchanged a glance with Zhi Luan before leaving.
Zhi Luan acted as though nothing happened and went back to his workstation. After a while, Yu Lu came out from the kitchen with a tissue in her hand. She saw Zhi Luan and dipped her head in a slight bow,
"Thank you very much for helping me. I'm sorry I caused you so much trouble. This would never have happened if I was more careful."
Zhi Luan had no change in his expression as he replied,
"It's no problem at all. Besides, they weren't strong enough to pose any threat... I was just taking out the trash."
Yu Lu didn't know what to say to Zhi Luan's reply. She was even more conflicted because she knew the young man and what he was capable of. She wanted to explain everything to Zhi Luan, but old man Shen told her not to bother.
Everything went well in the restaurant, and a while later, John and Lu Yu returned from their errand. They were naturally updated on what happened, and Lu Yu almost lost it.
"That bastard! I swear I would have given him the beating he deserved!"
