Chapter 617: Immortal Court's Monkey King
Tianyi's movements stopped, and he stared at Sun Wutian. His mind couldn't help but whirl to life as he considered a possibility. "Wutian, where did you learn to say adio mio?"
Sun Wutian was still clutching his head in shame even after ending the livestream. The comments had turned from expecting an action blockbuster to a comedy, and he was the butt of the jokes!
Wallowing in misery did not stop him from answering Tianyi's question. "Master, I saw it online in a novel I read."
He was curious as to why his master asked, but misery took precedence.
Tianyi was a bit disappointed, but not overly so. He accessed the Samsara Travelers Chat Group with his heaven sense.
Ultimate Young Master: Hey, did you know that the phrase adio mio appeared on the Xiyinet?
Flame-On: Oh? Did you find out who started it?
Spider-Goddess: Are we finally going to usher in a new member after over a thousand years? I think someone is urgently waiting.
Rookie #80085: Yes, please! I need to change my username ASAP!
Ultimate Young Master: It depends. If the origin of adio mio isn't from a reincarnator like us, I might give @Rookie #80085 the ability to change his username. But I hope it's another reincarnator.
Rookie #80085: You're the only one who still calls me Rookie #80085!
Tianyi succinctly ignored the rookie's complaint.
Body-Swapped Fairy: Speaking of which, the rate of reincarnators joining has been decreasing as more time passes.
Ultimate Young Master: I noticed too. Perhaps it's because most reincarnators appeared in the lower realms, and the spread of the Xiyi Talisman is still limited to the higher-rank realms and a select few intermediate ones. They might not have the talent for cultivation, so they die. After all, the Almighty has already fallen, and the number of reincarnators will only decrease with time. Even if they reincarnate in the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System, the traces of Earth will be cleansed by the Six Paths of Samsara.
Golden Film Award: Thinking back, we were quite lucky to be born and to notice the Xiyi Talisman. Most reincarnators are late bloomers. Those born with little or no talent rely on resources to cultivate in the early stages. Only after reaching the Nascent Soul Realm does our talent start to reveal itself. If they're born in the lower realms, they'll probably die of old age before realizing their talent. Even I never thought I would become an Immortal Monarch after tens of thousands of years. I thought becoming a True Immortal was already the limit of my talent.
Chef Beards Award: At least you became a Monarch. I'm still a True Immortal.
Golden Film Award: But your status is no less than some Monarchs. And you're an Immortal Lord who can become a Monarch at any time.
Flame-On: What is this? Compliment time? @Ultimate Young Master, did you find the source?
Ultimate Young Master: I did find the first usage on the Xiyinet, but it's not looking hopeful. The first poster is an immortal who came to the All Pantheon Conference. He likely interacted with a demigod who used that phrase. It's not looking hopeful.
Spider-Goddess: What if the person who interacted with them is a reincarnator? There's no reason the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System should be the only one with reincarnators.
Ultimate Young Master: I'm looking into the matter. It's even more difficult for reincarnators from other systems to cultivate. They need even more luck to be reborn into a divine lineage, or they almost have no hope of surpassing their lifespan. Unless they have enormous potential or power, it's unlikely for divinities to shed their blood to convert a mortal's bloodline.
The chat group continued to discuss, but Tianyi had already brought Sun Wutian to Nine Heavens Peak. He also summoned the rest of his disciples.
"Let me introduce you," Tianyi said. He pointed at the man leading the trio. "That's Leng Junfeng. He can be considered my first disciple, but I accepted him in a lower realm, and only after he became a True Immortal did we finally meet. He's the eldest senior brother because he's the strongest and closest to becoming an Immortal Emperor."
Tianyi then pointed toward the second man. He had glowing red hair that resembled flames. He did not emit a fiery aura, but a warm one that would make everyone feel at peace, even in the summer heat. "This is the third disciple I received, your Second Senior Brother, Jinshu. He's also an Immortal Monarch."
After helping his father's reincarnation successfully transcend the Immortal Ascension Heavenly Tribulation, Jinshu used his connections to help Cangting join the Immortal Court. Although Cangting was still an Immortal Lord, he had the power of an Immortal Monarch thanks to the Lightning Beetle Morpher.
Jinshu's mindset also changed. He did not slack off in his cultivation, but he lost a lot of pressure, so his progress slowed. Tianyi was a bit disappointed, but he didn't think there was anything wrong with his choice.
"And this," Tianyi said, pointing at the only female member. She was a full head shorter than her senior brothers, and she appeared delicate and harmless, but the heavy sword on her back implied otherwise. "She's Ming Xingyun, the second disciple I took, and your Third Senior Sister. Like your two senior brothers, she's also an Immortal Monarch."
Finally, Tianyi introduced Sun Wutian to them. "He's Sun Wutian, your junior brother. He was conceived inside my inner universe and is only a few thousand years old."
Tianyi paused. Since when did he consider thousands of years "few"? He shook his head and chuckled. "He might be a bit naughty, so feel free to beat him up if he misbehaves."

"Master, aren't you being unfair to me?" Sun Wutian asked, showing his grievances openly. He glanced toward his senior brothers and sister. "Please show mercy."
"Show mercy?" Tianyi asked. "None of them thought about making trouble at the Immortal Court after passing their Immortal Ascension Heavenly Tribulation. Only you have the guts."
Now, Leng Junfeng showed a surprised expression. He shared a glance with his fellow disciples. With their years together, they only needed a few glances to understand what each other was thinking.
"Please don't worry, Junior Brother," Jinshu said. "Since Master has accepted you as his disciple, you must have something outstanding about you. I'm afraid you'll reach our level of strength soon."
Ming Xingyun nodded in agreement. "I might even have to call you Senior Brother soon."
Now, it was Sun Wutian's time to be confused. "Call me Senior Brother?"
"Seniority among Master's disciples isn't determined by time, but by strength," Ming Xingyun explained. "Every once in a while, Master will have us compete with each other. Whoever is the eldest senior brother, second senior brother, third senior sister is determined by ranking."
Upon hearing this, Sun Wutian's eyes lit up with interest. He scanned Leng Junfeng, Jinshu, and Ming Xingyun with fighting intent. Although he asked for mercy earlier, he didn't think he was any weaker than the three. That point remained the same, even if he had only cultivated for a fraction of their time.
Leng Junfeng and Jinshu's auras also exploded upon feeling Sun Wutian's fighting intent. Both of them were proud—especially so since they'd been accepted by Tianyi as disciples. Who doesn't know that the Nine Heavens Sovereign is one of the best at teaching? He only accepted three disciples, but all three reached the Seamless Immortal Realm.
The only other person who accepted fewer disciples than him was his mother, Sovereign Xi. Because she had been inactive for so long, only legends of her remained. Now, the most powerful sovereign in most people's eyes was the Nine Heavens Sovereign. Many wanted to become his disciple, but he accepted none of them.
Even Ming Xingyun had a deep pride in her bones because of this.
"Alright, alright," Tianyi interjected, stopping them before they could come to blows. "You can fight later. I'm here just to welcome Sun Wutian and get him acquainted with you and the Immortal Court."
He turned toward Sun Wutian. "Nine Heavens Peak only has honor and no power. Most of us don't have duties and focus on cultivating. What about you? Do you want to get a position? I can even get you to become the Protector of Horses."
Sun Wutian swiftly waved his hands. "Have mercy, Master."
He couldn't help but wonder why his master became so mischievous after shedding the identity of Ancestor Fusang. He didn't know which he preferred—the stoic and majestic Ancestor Fusang, or the intimate and playful Nine Heavens Sovereign.
Tianyi had already expected Sun Wutian's arrival, so he had prepared a banquet ahead of time. Now that the star had arrived, he immediately sent out invitations to his acquaintances and friends. This was both a celebration and a procedure to integrate Sun Wutian into the Immortal Court.
A week later, a lively atmosphere filled Nine Heavens Palace. Sitting next to Tianyi was Daoyi. Many years had passed, but she had not stepped into the Origin Immortal Realm. Still, she had never slacked in her cultivation. Although she hadn't fought any battles against other emperors, her soul methods had become much stronger and more threatening, even within True Nothingness.
Daoyi had met Sun Wutian. Originally, she had planned to give Sun Wutian a soul artifact, but upon learning of his dream world, she changed her mind. She gave him three monarch soul puppets instead.
After the Hegemon War, several survivors of the Numinous Sword Sect caused trouble, and Daoyi took action to capture them. Instead of killing them, she took control of their souls, turning them into puppets. Unfortunately, although their souls could exist forever, their bodies could not keep up. So Tianyi forged puppet bodies to house their souls, thus creating the soul puppets.
"You didn't purposely lead your fourth disciple to become a Monkey King, did you?" Yan Nie asked as he clinked his wine cup against Tianyi's.
Tianyi rolled his eyes. "Although I find it interesting, I wouldn't deliberately guide it. That would be too boring. No, this is all him."
"It's not that I don't want to believe you, but it's all so coincidental," Yan Nie said.
Even Tianyi had nothing to rebut. In contrast, Gu Chuan scratched his chin. "Say, if I ask your fourth disciple to star in an epic about the Monkey King, do you think he would agree?"
"Just don't make it about getting Buddhist scriptures. I don't want to give them free influence," Tianyi said.
Gu Chuan repeatedly nodded. "I understand, I understand."
With Tianyi's permission, he quickly slid over to Sun Wutian. Upon learning of his identity, Sun Wutian became incredibly excited. Although there was a barrier between the external Xiyinet and the Xiyinet of the Nine Heavens Universe, Gu Chuan's films were still considered classics on both sides.
Gu Chuan didn't focus solely on human protagonists—he also made stories centered on demons, which made him popular among both groups. Of course, he still primarily filmed human stories. Nowadays, he only produced films that interested him and focused more on advancing his cultivation.
Sun Wutian naturally agreed. As a side note, once Gu Chuan learned about Sun Wutian's disastrous—for him—livestream, he immediately used it as a promotional hook for the new film.
Soon, the banquet ended, and Sun Wutian could be regarded as fully integrated into the circle.
Not long afterward, Sun Wutian fought with his fellow disciples. The competition took place inside the Nine Heavens Universe. Although Tianyi could still control everything in the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System, he had even greater control over his inner universe. This way, if any accidents occurred, he could stop them immediately.
As Tianyi expected—and to his three senior disciples' shock—Sun Wutian defeated all of them. Ming Xingyun didn't care too much. If she could be ranked higher, she would like it, but if she fell in the rankings, it didn't matter.
In contrast, Leng Junfeng and Jinshu were more affected. Sun Wutian's offensive prowess was roughly at their level—perhaps even slightly stronger—especially when paired with his soul methods. Thanks to Daoyi's influence, they were not weak in soul defense, but it was Sun Wutian's defense that left them helpless. Even if Sun Wutian just stood there and let them attack, they couldn't harm him much. And even if they did, he would swiftly recover.
It felt like a scripted boss fight that was impossible to win.
So, Sun Wutian became the eldest senior brother, while Leng Junfeng became the second brother, and Jinshu the third brother. Ming Xingyun remained everyone's junior sister.
Leng Junfeng didn't just want to be the eldest senior brother—he wanted to surpass Tianyi, even if it was a fool's dream. However, his only competition had been Jinshu, which made him lax, especially after Jinshu's progress slowed. In contrast, Jinshu realized he had grown too relaxed without external pressure, and this reignited his determination.
This was exactly the effect Tianyi wanted. Although he didn't take Sun Wutian as a disciple just for this purpose, it was a welcome side effect. As for Ming Xingyun, he had taken her as a disciple more for novelty than anything. He didn't expect her to be unbeatable, but he at least wanted her to live longer. So, he also urged her to hone her willpower.
After settling everything, Tianyi secluded himself to focus on creating a new technique. The Dream Divinity Script was something he had developed to test whether it could subvert the Heavenly Dao's influence. Since Sun Wutian had succeeded, he could now proceed with the next step—transforming it into a technique that even immortals could use to create an inner world. Once they cultivated that inner world, they would merge it with their soul and devour the Heavenly Dao's essence.
Of course, that was much easier said than done. Tianyi didn't know how long it would take to complete. Defending against external influence and erasing something already entrenched were two completely different challenges. Still, in Tianyi's eyes, an inner world was indispensable.
