Chapter 50: Chapter 050 Love moves too fast like…
“Hey, wake up!”
Chen Ke shook Sleery, who was still dazed, looking as if she was bewitched, staring blankly at her own knees.
Even just by holding onto Sleery’s shoulders, Chen Ke could feel her heartbeat through her trembling body; it was so frantic he wished it could beat four times every second.
Yang Xiao was even more exaggerated, with bloodshot eyes, curling up on the ground and shivering, almost sucking on his thumb.
This was the situation Chen Ke feared most. Since they had met, he couldn’t just walk away without helping, but he couldn’t let them drag him down either.
He decided to try one last time in the most intense way. If they really lost their sanity because of this, Chen Ke would have to bail.
“Slap!”
“If you wake up later, don’t blame me.”
As Chen Ke spoke, he pressed his left hand on Sleery’s shoulder and swung his palm towards her beautiful face.
“Slap!”
A crisp sound echoed as Sleery’s head was jerked to the right by the impact of the palm, her left cheek slightly swollen, showing a palm print.
Her expression shifted from dazed to surprised, then from surprised to confused, tears swirling in her eyes and a trace of blood on her lips.
“Fu…ck… why the hell did you hit me?” Sleery, as if waking from a nightmare, asked tearfully.

“You’re finally back to normal,” Chen Ke stood up without explaining.
Sleery covered her face, glanced at Chen Ke with a slight frown, then saw Yang Xiao on the ground opposite her, his face filled with horror.
“Is he…?”
“We’ll be fine soon, maybe…”
Chen Ke kicked Yang Xiao in the abdomen violently.
“Ouch!!”
Yang Xiao’s eyes almost popped out, his mouth forming an ‘O’ as he spat saliva onto the floor; the blood vessels in his eyes slowly receded and his expression returned to normal.
They were just frightened; their sanity hadn’t been stripped away. If someone truly lost their sanity, they couldn’t be saved.
“Holy shit… I kind of feel like taking a dump…” Yang Xiao knelt on the ground, clutching his stomach and writhing in pain, unable to make a sound.
“We need to leave, upstairs, it’s not safe to stay here,” Chen Ke said.
“What happened to us just now?” Sleery leaned against the wall and asked.
“Stop asking if you don’t want to be killed by a monster. Get up quickly,” Chen Ke ordered, gripping a PPQ.45 as he approached the safety passageway door.
He pushed the door open a crack, a cold, putrid breeze blowing on his face, mixed with the stench of something burning. Gunshots and footsteps along with a strange hissing sound came from the staircase below.
He recognized that sound; it was the noise Holy Relics made when they transformed from diamonds into tangible objects. Someone was summoning Holy Relics.
It looked like the Administration Bureau had entered; he did not want to make contact with them. They needed to hurry.
Yang Xiao bent over, supporting himself against the wall as he followed Chen Ke, lamenting over Chen Ke’s harsh kick; if he hadn’t had some training, he might have been knocked unconscious.
Chen Ke looked back at Sleery; she was sitting in a small pool of blood, her complexion pale, struggling to stand up while leaning against the wall.
Chen Ke walked over, lifted Sleery’s right arm with his left hand, helping her drap it over his shoulder, then grabbed Sleery’s waist with his right hand, helping her to stand.
“You’re more of a gentleman than Yang Xiao,” Sleery smiled, her breathing heavy.
“You might not be as tired if you’d stop talking,” Chen Ke replied.
He looked at Yang Xiao, nodding towards the safety passageway.
“What?” Yang Xiao was perplexed.
“Lead the way,” Chen Ke said with a frown.
“I…” Yang Xiao hesitated.
“How about we switch?” Chen Ke suggested, shaking his left hand that was holding Sleery.
Sleery looked at the ceiling, feeling uncomfortable.
“I hate blood… I’ll lead the way…”
Chen Ke had expected Yang Xiao would gladly agree, but his response left Chen Ke in disbelief!
Yang Xiao hesitated at the doorway with a gun in hand, unsure where to point it. Chen Ke walked up behind him, pushed the door open forcefully, and gave him a contemptuous glance.
Yang Xiao chuckled and followed closely behind Chen Ke.
The combat downstairs seemed to have ended, but the sound of footsteps indicated that there were probably dozens of people gathered, and it was clear they were well-equipped and well-trained.
Throughout, there were no human screams heard; the gunfire was rhythmic, not the frantic gunfire of chaos, but rather gave the impression of targeted elimination, picking off targets one by one.
Chen Ke did not know who those people downstairs were, but if they were as he suspected, from the Administration Bureau, he would have to reevaluate the power this world wielded in handling abnormal events.
In many Hollywood films featuring horror or supernatural elements, equipped forces like S.W.A.T, police, military, and others are simply slaughtered by monsters.
However, if a world really suffered frequent supernatural occurrences and the specialized departments to handle them were so inadequate, it would be clear that world order could never be maintained.
Though Chen Ke hadn’t been here long, from the few hours’ experiences, it was apparent that the Administration Bureau indeed could handle anything.
This only made him more determined never to oppose the Administration Bureau or delude himself into thinking he could cooperate with them.
Chen Ke just needed to figure out his own issues, and plan for everything else later.
The three kept climbing upstairs. The red outline of the monster was still visible in Chen Ke’s vision; it was only one floor away from him, but the monster didn’t ascend the stairs. It seemed to teleport, appearing randomly on one floor.
Luckily for Chen Ke, its random teleportation gave him time to escape. It seemed the monster didn’t grasp the concept of floors as it appeared multiple times on one floor, aimlessly wasting time.
“Listen, there might be a very dangerous monster below us, but I bet the people from the Administration Bureau aren’t far from us either. You guys can wait here…” Chen Ke suddenly stopped, saying.
Before him was the corridor door to the twelfth floor. If these two didn’t follow him,
their chances of surviving might be better.
If he could just hide in this building for three hours, he could open the door and get out. Chen Ke bet that the monster couldn’t leave the Black Box, and if it could, the Administration Bureau would send someone to deal with it.
“Why are you trying to ditch us?” Sleery looked at Chen Ke.
“You’re overthinking it, Sleery. I’m just not very good with teamwork. I’ve always been a lone wolf,” Chen Ke replied.
“I’ve met more men than you’ve met women, Lin Ke. You can’t fool me,” Sleery said.
“I’m dangerous, Sleery, and you can’t handle it. I suggest you let it go and keep your life, hoping for the next one,” Chen Ke said sternly.
He left Sleery at the stairwell and then turned to Yang Xiao, saying, “If the monster comes, just shoot; there’s nothing to be afraid of.”
Having said that, he sprinted up the stairs, disappearing into the dark corridor.
“He’s gone…? Just like that?” Yang Xiao sighed.
“He can’t leave…” Sleery leaned against the wall, eyes closed.
“Looks like you’ve finally met a man who won’t fall for your tricks,” Yang Xiao said with a bitter smile.
“He can refuse, but I won’t give up. Hmph… One day I’ll capture his heart…” Sleery whispered softly.
Chen Ke reached the twelfth floor in one breath; that was the top floor of the building. The stairs leading to the rooftop were blocked by a large iron door. Chen Ke tried pushing it, but it wouldn’t budge.
He stepped back a few paces and saw white letters on the iron door: “Black Box Airlock No. 2.”
The Black Box was another world to the outside, sealed by such gates. No matter what technology the Administration Bureau used, it seemed impossible to open it.
Below him, the monster was just one floor away from Chen Ke. He didn’t know if Sleery and Yang Xiao had been killed by the monster, but since he hadn’t heard any screams, they were probably okay.
He looked at the doors across the twelfth-floor hallway. That was the only way forward, so he gripped his gun and barged through the door.
“Drop your weapon!”
“Don’t move!”
“Put the gun down!”
“Freeze, don’t move!”
As soon as he entered, Chen Ke’s chest was targeted by numerous laser points, and several voices shouted at him.
“+30 minutes”
“+30 minutes”
“+30 minutes”
…
Chen Ke looked closely; it was a group of more than ten S.W.A.T members aiming HK416s and MP5s at him. No, not S.W.A.T… Their combat uniforms said P.W.A.T, probably a special force tasked specifically with fighting monsters…
