This Spiritual Energy is Lethal!

Chapter 48 - 048: The Widening Gate

Chapter 48: Chapter 048: The Widening Gate

Violet and the other five CPA agents squeezed into the elevator, silently staring at the floor indicator.

West Gold Building was a 15-year-old office building, so many of its facilities seemed outdated, lacking the conveniences of the newer office buildings.

The elevator, with a load capacity of 450 kilograms, was extremely cramped, and the six agents awkwardly huddled together. As the elevator slowly ascended, they heard the battle happening on the second floor.

“P.W.A.T engaged in the fight? How many monsters are there in this building?” an agent couldn’t help but ask.

“There must be more than we anticipated. Leave the sweeping and rescuing to P.W.A.T. Our main mission is to locate the source of the abnormal energy fluctuations,” Violet emphasized.

On the screen of her handheld spiritual energy fluctuation detection device, a tremendously large light spot was flashing non-stop, indicating that something from the Great Void had crossed through the door and entered the Black Box Space.

...

Although all the monsters classified by the Administration Bureau originated from the Great Void, the size of that light spot far exceeded historical records and was of a scale never detected by the Administration Bureau before.

Either the quantity of what had crossed over was enormous, or its strength was astonishing.

“Capture it alive or kill it?” a female agent asked.

“We’re not yet clear on what that thing is; let’s follow the instructions from the Great Void Contact Manual. Prioritize control and containment if possible; if not, then consider killing. Check your equipment one last time,” Violet ordered.

Upon hearing Violet’s instructions, the five agents each began to check the Holy Relics Diamonds they carried.

Like Diana, they were all Spiritual Ability Users of the second energy level of the Administration Bureau, equipped with a complete set of Holy Relics issued according to the situation of the mission.

As CPA agents, whose primary duty in their department was the containment and management of Holy Relics, they naturally received the best quality Holy Relics with the most effective attributes.

A bald male agent extended his left hand, clad in a black leather glove, and gently twisted it at the fingertips, sliding off the glove to reveal five rings on his fingers. The rings were made from a special material, and each ring was inlaid with a Holy Relics Diamond—three white and two blue.

A long-haired brunette female agent rolled up her right sleeve, revealing a long silver bracelet wrapped several times around her lower arm, adorned with four white and one blue Holy Relics Diamonds.

A robust black male agent pulled out a necklace from his collar, a round-shaped chain inlaid with four blue and one white Holy Relics Diamond at his chest.

A punk female agent with a ponytail, a lip ring, and smoky makeup had a chain hanging from her denim jeans, embellished with five white Holy Relics Diamonds.

The male agent with parted hair next to her stuffed his wallet with two blue and three white Holy Relics Diamonds.

These Holy Relics were meticulously cataloged by the CPA. Each issuance and use required the user to write a report, and agents were required to return them before decommissioning. Since there was no way to manufacture or repair Holy Relics Diamonds, each one was extremely precious.

When the floor indicator lit up with a “6,” the elevator came to a gentle stop, and as soon as the doors opened, the six agents surged out, ready for combat.

The deserted corridor was eerily quiet. Violet took out her handheld spiritual energy fluctuation detection device and began to search for the location of the door.

“There was a Spirit Explosion Effect here last night. Based on Diana’s report, it’s very likely that it was artificially created using the Blasphemous Dagger. If you notice anything unusual, remember to record it,” Violet instructed.

The agents nodded. They were informed by the Administration Bureau about the Black Box Space incident and knew that Diana was tracking this case.

“Maybe we can help her figure out what exactly happened here last night,” the punk female agent said with a smile.

“That would be great; then she would only have to do some paperwork,” the parted-hair agent picked up the conversation.

“Focus,” Violet frowned.

She glanced at the four sets of glass double doors in the hallway and then looked towards the end of the corridor.

“The door is there?” the female agent with the ponytail asked.

“That’s right.”

Violet strode forward, placing her hand on the wall, and her spiritual element surged through her nervous system from her palm, seeping into the wall.

From the center of her palm, the wall cracked with blue light fissures, growing larger and more numerous until the entire wall shattered into irregularly-sized stone fragments that did not fall to the ground but remained suspended in mid-air.

Behind the demolished wall was a white, vortex-shaped gateway, about half a meter tall.

“`

But on the periphery of the vortex, a massive red swirl encompassed it, about three meters in height. The two overlapped, appearing as if a smaller doorframe was stuffed into a larger one.

This was the duplex effect, when at the same position in the Black Box Space, a Spirit Explosion Effect erupted once again from the Great Void side, causing the channel to expand and rendering the door created by P.W.A.T’s converger useless.

The size of the Spiritual Energy Channel isn’t just about area. It’s also related to the flow of spiritual energy—bigger channels allow for greater flows. A small channel would limit monsters of large volume and high energy from flooding into the Black Box Space. This is why the Administration Bureau could assess and rate the Black Box Space.

No matter how much the Black Box Space gets sealed off, the various attributes of spiritual energy from the Great Void would seep through the Spiritual Energy Channel into the Black Box and gradually diffuse into this world. There was no physical means to stop it.

Now, the large red vortex Teleportation Gate in front of Violet was large enough to allow any known monster to enter and exit freely—at least, it was the biggest gate she had ever encountered in her career. If not controlled, it would undoubtedly lead to disaster.

“This gate is really big…” the agents exclaimed in surprise, having never seen such a gigantic gate before.

Inside the double vortex, or rather on the opposite side, was a white world. From distance, one could see a vast expanse of dilapidated Medieval classic-style architecture and a grand white cathedral.

“Halt, team… We need to do an assessment of the mission,” Violet said. The gate was astonishingly large; she had to assume that the monsters entering the Black Box from the Great Void were as tall as the gate itself.

Three meters tall, with massive energy fluctuations. To avoid unnecessary sacrifices, the Administration Bureau would deliberate long for each operation.

“So, what’s on the other side of this Black Box?” some agents curiously peered out beyond the gate.

Each Spirit Explosion Space connects to a different part of the Great Void, but what’s certain is, if multiple gates were produced inside a Black Box, these gates definitely all lead to the same Great Void, only dropping to different points.

Violet took a communicator from her waist pouch and connected with the Administration Bureau’s special operations command center.

“This is Violet, a gate has been found. It’s beyond our prior estimations, astoundingly large.”

“Yes, I will handle it.”

“Roger, I will do so. I request Black Box 4679 to be immediately upgraded to Rank: S, and to halt opening to Spiritual Businesses until Diana’s investigation is concluded.”

“Okay, got it, understood.”

“Violet, out.”

Violet ended the communication and turned to her team members, “The mission continues, but if the monster that caused the gate to expand exceeds our ability to cope after contact, we will immediately evacuate,” said Violet.

“So, it’ll be their turn to step in at that time?” someone said with a laugh.

“Keep moving forward; we have to meet that thing first and see what it actually is,” Violet commanded.

At that moment, faint footsteps echoed through the quiet channel.

“Tap tap tap… tap tap tap…”

Listening closely, there was also the sound of a knife’s edge scraping the ground.

“It seems something doesn’t want us to leave,” the Black agent said.

The agents exchanged glances and slightly repositioned themselves.

The doors of the elevator at the far end bulged as if something intended to come out from within. The doors on both sides were slowly pushed open, and the ceiling’s fluorescent lights also dimmed gradually.

Clusters of octopus tentacle-like plants burst through the concrete walls, sprouting from cracks and corners, and slowly moved towards the six agents along any climbable surface.

The elevator doors bulged entirely, and from the middle crevice, a thick tentacle forced its way out. Following that, the door was completely destroyed, and a humanoid creature wearing a yellow hooded robe and bare feet emerged from the elevator.

Its feet and lower legs were pitch-black; beneath the hood was a deep darkness. From the wide sleeves, several octopus tentacles extended, each suction cup oozing with purple fluid.

From the four glass double doors, humanoid creatures wearing masks and white robes also emerged, each with four arms holding a steel blade, and every mask bearing a different expression.

“Maybe they just want to go home. Should we just step aside?” an agent suggested.

The six agents shared a laugh as white and blue halos simultaneously flashed around them.
