Chapter 46: Yu Shen, The freak dragon (Part 3)
The madness of Yu Long destroyed the entire Wansheng Kingdom, and Prince Wansheng perished in the aftermath of the event.
Wansheng's father, the Wansheng Dragon King, succumbed to corruption due to his grief and resentment, transforming into a yaoguai (from now on, I'll refer to all monsters and demons as yaoguai).
Naturally, this madness caused Yu Long's power to decrease by two levels as she herself became a yaoguai.
A bit of a waste... but it doesn't matter. After all, the quality lies in her bloodline.
It took quite some time to stop my sister's rampage—about three days—with the cooperation of several other kingdoms. And now, she is sealed beneath my Dragon Palace.
"Seeing the princess reduced to an emotionless yaoguai is quite strange," Axin said, looking at Yu Long as she opened her mouth, trying to bite at them but was restrained by sealing chains.
"Get used to it. She'll just be a dried husk soon enough," I replied coldly, focusing on the blueprint of a strange machine.
"What are you working on, Prince?" asked Ling, the one who had seduced Prince Wansheng but managed to escape when Yu Long turned into a yaoguai.
"I'm figuring out how to recreate that damned artifact Wukong stole," I said through gritted teeth.
Flashback~
In a private room, Wukong and my father were having a conversation.
"Oh right, old man! Do you have something that can absorb energy?" Wukong asked my father.
"Yes, I do… but it's a family secret."
"Then bring it along! My troops could really use that!"
"Oh, alright then."
'So much for it being a family secret!' I thought as I eavesdropped nearby.
End of flashback~
"How infuriating! Now I have to invent a machine that functions like that artifact—such a waste of time!" I slammed the table, startling Ling, who looked nervous.
I must remain patient. After all, time is on my side…
***
More than 23 years have passed.
Twenty-three long years.
It may feel short for those with dragon race, but to me, it felt unbearably long. Yet the results were worth it—I succeeded in creating a machine that could extract both bloodline essence and energy.
It's even better than that artifact!
I've had to feign being an exemplary king to earn the love of the Dragon Palace's citizens. The act made my skin crawl—how revolting to endure the gazes of such trash directed at someone like me.
But no matter. They are essential to my plan.
Because this machine… requires lives as its power source.
And now the time has come. It's worth anticipating.
"Are you ready, Axin, Ling? Once I place my sister in this machine and activate it, there's no turning back," I said to the two who were utterly loyal to me.
"Everything is prepared."
"Bring it on!"
"Good. Let me deal with my sister first."
I approached my sister, who was in her dragon form, struggling to break free.
Oh, how pitiful.
If you didn't have that pure royal bloodline, I might have granted you a gentler death.
Execution (gentle, really?).
It's fortunate our father isn't here to stop me. His bloodline is decent, but not as exceptional as yours, dear sister.
"So farewell—consider this my only act of mercy toward you."
Using a special tool, I forced my sister to revert from her dragon form to her human form. Then, I placed her into the machine, pressed several buttons, and activated it.
"It's working!" I laughed gleefully, watching as her power was gradually drained.
But before I could savor the moment, the three of us sensed something.
"…From the sky?!" Axin exclaimed, sweating as he looked upward, even though we were beneath the Dragon Palace.
"The Dragon Palace, ruled by the Grand Supreme Elder, shall be destroyed for its crimes against the heavens," a divine voice echoed throughout the palace, causing the citizens to look upward.
On the clouds appeared a woman with long black hair and a red eye in the middle of her forehead, accompanied by a black dog and an army from the celestial realm behind her.
"Moreover, it seems you've been hiding something important beneath the Dragon Palace. We will be taking it," she said emotionlessly, pulling out an axe.
"Therefore, for the crimes of the Dragon Palace, the punishment is death."
She raised the axe, which expanded to an absurd size, aiming directly at the Dragon Palace.
"This is bad!! Prince, get out of here now!" Axin shouted.
"But—"
"Is your life important or not?!"
"…Damn those bastards from the Celestial Palace!!!"
Cursing, the three of us used every bit of strength to escape.
We consumed every elixir we had, running as fast as we could to get out of there.
And within three seconds, the Dragon Palace was split in two, volcanic eruptions shooting into the sky.
Everything… everything Yu Shen had accumulated was gone.
As Yu Shen finally escaped, he was met with an even more chaotic sight.
Many kingdoms—so many kingdoms—were in ruins.
It was like a global catastrophe, the end of the world.
"…That useless monkey. She failed!" I ground my teeth, unable to contain my rage.
I once thought her taking my father away was a blessing… but it ended up inadvertently destroying everything I had worked so hard for!
From that day on, this event became known as The Purge of the Rebellion.
***
It's been a long time since that event.
Many kingdoms have been destroyed, and we've been forced to live in hiding.
Yu Long, my sister, has been chosen to accompany the destined one on their pilgrimage for the scriptures.
As for that useless monkey, she's been sealed, awaiting the chosen one to release her.
It turns out that Buddhism and the Celestial Palace collaborated—no wonder that monkey was defeated.
My father appears to have died, and all my relatives connected to me have been wiped out.
So, you could say that only my sister and I remain as the sole heirs of the royal dragon bloodline.
No home, no power, and now nothing left to our names.
Well, almost nothing.
I still have rage and hatred.
Those Celestial bastards and that monkey… they must pay.
I will have my revenge.
But to exact vengeance, I need someone exceptionally powerful.
Luckily, I know of someone mentioned in the annals of history:
Bai Ling, the fisherman of the Eastern Sea.
According to records, he was a mere human who single-handedly killed numerous gods from the Celestial Palace, earning him a relentless bounty on his head.
But no human could stand against the entirety of the Celestial Palace, and so he was killed shortly after.
Even so, being recorded in history as such a dangerous sinner is already a great honor.
That's why I must find his soul. Reports suggest that his soul has neither transcended nor been dragged into the underworld. It's still out there, somewhere.
I need to locate the place where he died to bring him back to life.
And just as I anticipated, I succeeded.
But sad thing that I don't have a body for him
Fortunately, thanks to years of research, I have a way.
To create a body capable of housing such a powerful soul, I need a specific place…
A place that can slowly siphon energy from everyone without being detected by those in the Celestial Palace.
...That's it, isn't it? Why not create a second Dragon Palace?
It's perfect. And, perhaps… just perhaps...
I could turn the Dragon Palace into a trap for Yu Long as well.
Two birds, one stone.
