Chapter 428.1: Weve Never Fight Such A Well-Equipped Battle
A flame rose in the darkness.
When they saw thick smoke rising in the direction of the military base, the soldiers of the resistance army lying in the trenches were all surprised. Their eyes widened in shock.
Yard was no exception. Beside him, Klav was the same.
Even the captains struggling in despair...
The distant reconnaissance vehicle began to retreat, turning its head back towards the direction of the military base.
The four trucks heading towards them, however, remained where they were.
The infantry that had alighted were stuck and could only hastily dig individual shell scrapes before exchanging fire with the soldiers of the resistance army.
As it turns out, those big nosed bastards aren't invincible!
After losing the support of their artillery, and facing a resistance army several times their size, they quickly fell into a hard battle. Their casualties rapidly mounted.
Seeing the column of smoke rising to the north, Yard's eyes was wide with disbelief, but it quickly turned into ecstasy.
He tore off his scarf and tied it around his injured arm, excitedly shouting to the soldiers behind him. "Reinforcements!"
"Our reinforcements are right ahead!"
"I told you, they wouldn't break their word!"
North of them, the military base of the Army was indeed engulfed in thick smoke.
Especially the artillery positions. They received special attention and were in complete disarray due to the firepower raining down from the heavens!
Piman desperately screamed into the communications channel from inside the shelter, but apart from the crackling sound of static, there was no response.
It wasn't just the frontline air command 100 kilometers away that couldn't be reached...
Even the 100-man team outside couldn't be contacted, and communications with other combat units were intermittent. There were reports speaking of severe losses and requesting reinforcements.
Piman's face turned pale as he hung up the phone. He collapsed weakly into his chair.
Antonite looked at him with a ghastly pale face, sweat of tension beading on his forehead. "What on earth is that?"
"It's metallic hydrogen bombs.. No, it's not just metallic hydrogen, but they also used EMP!" Piman said, his lips trembling, a hint of fear on his face. "Our communications have been cut."
Antonite's eyes widened in fear. "EMP?! Metallic hydrogen? How could the guerrillas have things like this?!"
Piman swallowed hard, struggling to speak. "That's probably not any guerrilla group. They're most likely aircrafts from the Enterprise."
At the mention of the Enterprise, Antonite involuntarily held his breath, fear also beginning to appear in his eyes.
At a combat meeting half a month ago, he had heard General Griffin mention something about the Enterprise.
The Army's strategy of moving eastward had caught the attention of the East Coast, including their capture of the Pioneer, and it was clear they couldn't hide this from those people.
If they couldn't end this war quickly, the Enterprises might get involved.
And by then...
The war would evolve into a direct confrontation between the Army and the Enterprise, and the ancient treaties would be shattered.
Such an event never occured in the past century!
Meanwhile, right above Piman and Antonite, a drone with a bulbous head was circling high in the sky.
It was a Seagull drone, from the distant East Coast, priced at 1.5 million CR. It was capable of carrying 8 guided missiles, and a 20mm machine gun with a magazine of 600 rounds.
The military base's communication equipment had been completely paralyzed by an EMP it released, severely impacting the Army's command system.
Although they had prepared for the possibility of communications equipment being unusable, they had clearly not anticipated being hit by an EMP, and the sudden attack threw the camp into chaos.
Tank personnel quickly rushed to their vehicles, intending to drive out the tanks and anti-aircraft vehicles out as soon as possible.
However, before they could get close, another missile fell from the sky.
The white phosphorus bomb exploded like fireworks, showering the area with sparkling columns of smoke, quickly turning a whole row of barracks into a hell on earth.
A soldier instinctively raised his hand to block the glaring white light, but his arm was accidentally grazed by a flying spark.
Like a match dropped into a barrel of oil, the faint flame instantly turned into a raging fire, swelling several times in just a few breaths, turning him into a human matchstick.
He fell to the ground, trying to strip off his clothes. He rolled around in agony, but no matter how he struggled, he could not escape the blazing flames... At this moment, all experience and skills were useless. He could only wait for death in agony.
The screams were incessant. The unquenchable flames burned several soldiers.
Next to the garage, charred corpses lay twisted. Soon, even their screams could no longer be heard.
Watching the scene from the drone above, Eye Owe Money couldn't help but click his tongue. "Damn... that's really brutal."
That last missile alone killed at least 50 people.
Unless someone had awakened a special ability, even an awakener might find it hard to survive.
Unable to bear seeing them suffer, Eye Owe Money sighed inwardly and launched another missile.
The white flames bloomed again, this time turning the northeast corner of the military base into a sea of fire.
The camouflaged machine gun position turned into a sea of flames as several machine gunners ran out from the inferno. However, they were torn to shreds the next second by the descending gunfire.
Under the thermal imaging view, clusters of heads shone like light bulbs, with nowhere to escape from the firepower raining down from above.
Meanwhile, the Death Corps who were pedaling their tricycles, finally reached a new battle position.
The support squad set up mortars, and under the guidance of their Seagull drone, began fire suppression near the military base's garage, preventing the soldiers from boarding the tanks.
On the other side, the Death Corps' Vanguard-clad soldiers pedaled the tricycles under the cover of the Seagull drone, pushing forward towards the northeast corner of the military base.
No batteries or engines were needed.
The Vanguard exoskeleton-clad strength type beasts were natural human motors, and the muscular men pedaling the tricycles rode it so quickly the wheels were nearly smoking.
"Brothers, follow me!" Looking ahead at a sea of burning white light, Sideline Slacking shouted in excitement, then fiercely patted Construction Boy on the shoulder, "Faster! Even faster!"
Construction Boy couldn't help but complain, "My shoes are about to fall off! Damn, can't we just get a motorcycle?"
Any damn thing with a motor would do!
Hearing his brother's complaint, Sideline Slacking, caught up in the excitement, laughed heartily. "It takes up too much space! It's better to bring more ammo than those useless things, the administrator did ask me, but I just refused!"
Construction Boy couldn't help but curse, "Fuck!"
Holding his breath, the high-attribute Construction Boy raced ahead of the others.
Led by Sideline Slacking, their squad was like a sharp spearhead. It tore through the outermost defense line of the Army's northeast corner.
"Roar!"
A dull roar rang through the skies suddenly.
Next to the sandbag cover, a gray-skinned mutant, holding a club that was the height of a man, emerged from cover.
His eyes were blood-red, and he wore a thick steel plate on his chest. He looked like a baseball umpire as he strode towards the Death Corps.
However, before he got within ten meters, a 37mm armor-piercing incendiary shell blasted into his chest. The bursting sparks shot straight through him.
That was the New Alliance's Lance rifle!
An anti-materiel rifle modified from an anti-aircraft gun barrel and ammunition of the same caliber!
The massive recoil almost flipped the player shooting it off the tricycle, but luckily the strength type beast pedaling the vehicle was strong enough, pedaling furiously to counteract the recoil.
"Haha, nice shot!" Sideline Slacking couldn't help shouting, but he quickly restrained his excitement and became fully alert.
Although the outermost defense line had been breached, the real battle had just begun!
