This Danzo Is Weird!

Chapter 229: 229. Kushina's Pregnancy

Far away, Danzo had no idea that a "Anti-Danzo Alliance" had been formed specifically to deal with him.

If he had known, he might have kindly suggested they rename it the "Avengers Alliance."

Unfortunately, his attention was not on Kirigakure at the moment, as he had just received some shocking news.

"What? Kushina is pregnant?!" Danzo exclaimed in surprise, looking at the Hokage in front of him.

Minato, somewhat embarrassed, scratched his blond hair and pulled out a report from his pocket. "Yes, this is her prenatal checkup report."

Danzo took the report and flipped through it, his brow furrowing. "Three months already?"

He glared at Minato, his expression stern.

"As a husband, you only found out your wife is pregnant after three months?"

Minato hung his head and explained in a low voice, "Well, my work has been extremely busy, and Kushina is a bit careless by nature, so we discovered it a bit late..."

Danzo sighed in exasperation, not holding back his criticism.

"I never expected someone as meticulous as you to be so careless about something like this. And Kushina too, how could she not notice for so long?"

No wonder they ended up with a son like Naruto, the king of unpredictability... Danzo kept that last thought to himself.

He then placed the report on the table and asked, "Has Tsunade seen this?"

Minato shook his head. "As soon as the report came out, I came straight here. I haven't even gone home yet."

It was clear that Minato understood the gravity of a jinchūriki's pregnancy and the need for extreme caution.

Danzo nodded and immediately issued orders to the Root ninja hidden nearby. "Bring all personnel involved in Kushina's examinations to Root under the guise of an external mission."

"Yes," the Root ninja responded promptly and vanished on the spot.

"Senior Danzo, isn't this a bit too cautious?" Minato ventured to ask.

If possible, he didn't want his and Kushina's situation to disrupt the normal lives of others.

However, he was immediately met with a stern warning from Danzo. "This concerns the Nine-Tails. Such matters demand utmost caution!" Danzo's tone carried an unusual severity.

As a time traveler, no one understood better than Danzo the devastation the Nine-Tails' rampage had wrought on Konoha.

If not for that catastrophe, Minato wouldn't have died, and Hiruzen Sarutobi wouldn't have returned to power.

The Uchiha clan wouldn't have faced suspicion and ostracization, and perhaps even the subsequent massacre could have been avoided.

In essence, the original Konoha's decline began with the Nine-Tails' rampage!

Now, Danzo was determined to prevent such a disaster from befalling Konoha again.

"Later, I will inform Tsunade. From now on, she will personally oversee all examinations. No one else is allowed to intervene, not even Hiruzen Sarutobi or the two advisory elders. They must not know the specifics of Kushina's condition."

Feeling the weight of Danzo's words, Minato grew serious. "I understand."

But Danzo wasn't finished. "As the child develops, Kushina's physical changes will become noticeable. Those parasites will surely start to stir. Therefore, I plan to add two more Root squads to provide 24-hour protection for Kushina."

As a jinchūriki, Kushina had always been guarded by Anbu members, typically two squads.

However, with her pregnancy, two squads were no longer sufficient.

Danzo intended to increase the protection to four squads, ensuring that two squads were always present at any given time.

"Do you have any suitable candidates in mind?" Danzo looked at Minato.

As Kushina's husband and the Hokage of Konoha, Minato's opinion mattered.

After a moment of thought, Minato suggested, "Kakashi."

He explained his reasoning: "Although Kakashi has become an excellent ninja under your guidance, Senior Danzo, the incident from before has left him somewhat affected. Witnessing the birth of a new life might help change his perspective."

Danzo wasn't surprised by this choice.

Kakashi was Minato's student and a highly capable ninja, making him an ideal candidate for protecting Kushina.

Danzo quickly agreed. "Then let Kakashi take charge of Kushina's protection. Additionally, I will assign a capable operative to assist Kakashi, and I hope the two Anbu squads can coordinate as well."

Protecting a jinchūriki was of utmost importance, and relying solely on Kakashi might not be enough.

Therefore, Danzo planned to assign Pakura to assist Kakashi. Moreover, since this operation involved both Anbu and Root, establishing clear command was crucial to avoid any lapses that could be exploited.

Minato understood this, but he still looked troubled. "Senior Danzo, to be honest, the two Anbu squads currently protecting Kushina were assigned by the Third Hokage..."

Since becoming the Fourth Hokage, Minato had implemented many reforms and innovations.

However, when it came to matters involving the Third Hokage, he tended to be more conservative, perhaps out of respect for his predecessor or a desire to avoid further turmoil in the village.

But Danzo held a different view.

To revitalize Konoha, it was necessary to eradicate the remnants of Hiruzen Sarutobi's outdated ways.

"Then, in my name, reassign those two Anbu squads to other missions. You select two trustworthy squads to work with the Root squads in protecting Kushina. If Hiruzen has any objections, let him come to Root and speak with me."

Faced with Danzo's uncompromising stance, Minato could only nod in reluctant agreement.

"There's one more thing..." Danzo interlocked his fingers and placed them on the table, speaking gravely.

"Since Kushina is pregnant, it's time to fulfill the promise I made to you both."

Minato was momentarily puzzled. "You mean helping Kushina seize the Nine-Tails' chakra?"

Danzo nodded. This matter traced back to the Third Great Ninja War.

At the time, Danzo had borrowed a significant amount of the Nine-Tails' chakra from Kushina to confront the threats posed by Iwagakure and Kumogakure on the battlefield.

That chakra had proven invaluable, as without it, defeating the Third Raikage and repelling Ōnoki would have been far more uncertain.

Back then, Danzo had promised Kushina and Minato that after the war, he would help Kushina gain control over the Nine-Tails' power.

Now that Kushina was pregnant, it was the perfect opportunity to weaken the Nine-Tails' influence and reduce the risk of its rampage.

"Minato, by now you should have mastered senjutsu, correct?" Danzo suddenly looked up at Minato.

According to the original timeline, Minato had mastered senjutsu before his death.

With only about seven months left until Naruto's birth, Minato should have completed his training at Mount Myōboku and achieved mastery over senjutsu.

Minato didn't deny it. "Yes, Senior Danzo, though my Sage Mode is still somewhat unstable."

With that, Minato clasped his hands together and demonstrated for Danzo.

As he closed his eyes, natural energy began to gather around him, and soon, yellow markings appeared around his eyes, resembling Naruto's Sage Mode.

Unlike Jiraiya, however, Minato didn't exhibit further toad-like characteristics.

Seeing this, Danzo couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration.

Minato was truly a genius. Not only had he effortlessly mastered the Second Hokage's Flying Thunder God Technique, but he had also learned Jiraiya's Sage Mode.

In the original timeline, he had even subdued the Nine-Tails within the Shinigami's belly, becoming a perfect jinchūriki.

And this wasn't just any Nine-Tails—it was the Yin Nine-Tails, representing the darker half of the beast.

Conquering the Yin Nine-Tails was far more challenging than subduing the Yang Nine-Tails, yet Minato had accomplished it.

Such was his talent.

"That Jiraiya really took on an extraordinary disciple," Danzo remarked sincerely, then pulled out a scroll from his robe.

"This is a technique I came up with during my spare time. I think it might suit you. Give it a try."

Minato took the scroll and opened it, quickly becoming engrossed in its contents. "By concentrating chakra in the hand and spinning it at extreme speeds through precise shape manipulation, the chakra gains immense destructive and penetrating power... What a brilliant idea!"

Minato's eyes practically sparkled as he read.

This technique seemed tailor-made for him. Despite his formidable reputation on the battlefield, Minato had always struggled with a significant weakness: his lack of offensive power.

While he could easily outmaneuver average jonin, he often found himself unable to breach the defenses of more resilient opponents, such as the Third and Fourth Raikage.

Even when he closed the distance with his high-speed movements, he couldn't penetrate their defenses and had to rely on wind-style techniques to keep them at bay.

Thus, he desperately needed a powerful close-range attack.

And the technique Danzo had presented was a perfect match for him!
