Chapter 437: Chapter 437 My Marriage Is My Own Decision

(Chapter Eight. Another two chapters and updates at 10 p.m. with another one to follow.)

Not far from “Night Colors” bar, inside a luxury private room on the second floor of “Night North” cafe, a very beautiful woman was seated opposite a man with a tall figure and well-defined facial features.

Standing beside them was a woman with a stern face, as if she was a wooden figure.

The beautiful woman sitting in the private room turned out to be Yang Qingyin, who had sent a message to Luo Ziling but hadn’t received a reply, and the man opposite her was Fang Dongxun.

Today, Fang Dongxun had invited Yang Qingyin for coffee, and ultimately she didn’t refuse, but upon entering the room, she instructed Ye Xiaoli to stay to the side.

Ye Xiaoli faithfully followed Yang Qingyin’s instructions and stood quietly on the side without uttering a word.

This made Fang Dongxun somewhat at a loss whether to laugh or cry, and he directly expressed to Yang Qingyin his wish that Ye Xiaoli step aside, as there were some matters he wanted to discuss with Yang Qingyin alone.

“Qingyin, are you afraid that I’m going to bully you? You even keep Xiaoli by your side, but how could I ever dare to bully you? I just want to talk to you alone; it’s not convenient if someone else hears,” he said, and then personally spoke to Ye Xiaoli, “Xiaoli, could you, perhaps, wait outside, would that be all right?”

He had instructed his bodyguards to stay outside.

However, Yang Qingyin didn’t heed Fang Dongxun’s request. She didn’t let Ye Xiaoli leave; instead, she asked her to sit on the couch in the outer room. “It’s fine, Xiaoli knows everything about me. Whatever you wish to say, I’d like her to know about it too.”

Although the private room had an inner and outer section, sitting outside one could still hear people talking inside the room, unless they whispered or shut the door.

“Alright then,” hearing how Yang Qingyin had arranged things, and seeing Ye Xiaoli had ignored him and sat down outside according to Yang Qingyin’s instructions, Fang Dongxun had no choice but to agree.

Yang Qingyin gently stirred the coffee in front of her, not looking at Fang Dongxun, and asked with a distant expression, “Fang Dongxun, did you invite me out because there’s something you want to talk about?”

Fang Dongxun didn’t mind Yang Qingyin’s aloofness because everyone in their circle knew that’s how she was; she had that same expression with everyone, and seeing her smile was not guaranteed even after many encounters. Inviting her out for a meal or tea or coffee was also a rare event. Today, the fact that Fang Dongxun could invite Yang Qingyin out alone had already surprised him.

In the past, although Fang Dongxun would occasionally hang out with Yang Qingyin, it was always in the presence of many others; it seemed they had never gone out alone together. It wasn’t for lack of invitations from Fang Dongxun, but rather Yang Qingyin’s refusal to comply, and when she did refuse, she never provided reasons.

Having coffee today with Yang Qingyin with Ye Xiaoli by her side, Fang Dongxun didn’t feel it was excessive.

If Yang Qingyin had acted any other way, that would have been strange.

Of course, if Luo Ziling knew about this, he would undoubtedly find it incredible.

His impression of Yang Qingyin was completely different: she was smiling, lively, gentle, and lovely.

One can only say that Ziling is blissfully unaware of his good fortune; up to this point, he alone has enjoyed such treatment.

Fang Dongxun, seemingly unaffected by Yang Qingyin’s indifference, said with interest, “The elders at home want to arrange a marriage for us. Have you heard about this?”

“I know,” replied Yang Qingyin, her voice betraying no emotion, and she said nothing more, continuing to slowly stir her coffee.

“In the future, we’ll be a couple with an arranged engagement,” Fang Dongxun said with a smile, looking at Yang Qingyin. “The prospect of marrying you makes me very happy.”

“Did I say I would marry you?” Yang Qingyin’s face grew even colder.

Fang Dongxun replied with a touch of embarrassment, “Being born into families like ours, many things are out of our control, and we can only follow our elders’ orders. Don’t you agree?”

“That’s your business, it has nothing to do with me!” Yang Qingyin shot back coldly, adding nothing more.

Fang Dongxun, as if he had expected such a reaction from Yang Qingyin, laughed at himself. “Qingyin, don’t worry, I will definitely treat you well.”

“Did you ask me to come out today just to talk about this?” Yang Qingyin asked indifferently, shedding her cold demeanor.

“Not just that,” Fang Dongxun’s smile faded at the sight of Yang Qingyin’s indifferent expression, which was even more unsettling than her coldness. He sighed before speaking frankly, “I know you’ve been spending time with someone named Luo Ziling.”

Yang Qingyin didn’t speak, continuing to stir her coffee without taking a sip.

Fang Dongxun continued, “I’ve met him; he’s quite handsome and has a strong personality. To be honest, based on appearance, he stands out even more than us, quite a match for you. But he doesn’t seem to be a one-woman man. While he spends time with you, he’s also been very close with the Ouyang sisters. As far as I know, he frequently visits Ouyang Feifei’s villa and stays there for long periods.”

After hearing Fang Dongxun’s words, a cold smile appeared on Yang Qingyin’s face, “Comparing him to Mr. Fang, he’s but a minor player. There are already quite a few female celebrities linked with Mr. Fang, not to mention the women you’ve grown tired of and discarded at will. If anyone has the right to call him fickle, it’s not you.”

Fang Dongxun, taken aback by Yang Qingyin’s directness, felt a bit awkward and quickly tried to explain, “Those things were just for fun, amongst playmates, none of us take them seriously. If we get engaged, I certainly won’t behave like that anymore.”

“In my presence, aside from boasting he’s handsomer than you, can drink more than you, and is better in a fight, he hasn’t spoken ill of you,” Yang Qingyin’s lips curved into a cold smile. “You should know, speaking ill of someone behind their back is unethical, especially when your own behavior is a hundred times worse. At least in my eyes, he’s an innocent big boy, someone who blushes when surrounded by girls. Compared to someone like you, who’s seen countless women, he is a blank slate.”

Having said this, Yang Qingyin stood up, “Alright, I understand what you wanted to express tonight, but I’m not interested in listening anymore. Furthermore, don’t expect a marriage between our two families to tie us together. I don’t mind being just friends, like before, but don’t think I will marry you. I am the only one who can decide on my marriage. I take my leave!”

With that, she turned and walked away, with Ye Xiaoli hurriedly getting up to follow.

Fang Dongxun, not expecting Yang Qingyin to leave so abruptly, immediately stood up and tried to retain her. “Qingyin, don’t be like this. Can’t I apologize for saying the wrong thing?”

But Yang Qingyin didn’t respond and just walked away, leaving Fang Dongxun no choice but to follow her out quickly.
