The Young Urban Doctor

Chapter 038 Bold Man

As Luo Ziling hesitated whether to go over or not, Yang Qingyin, who was talking to the tall boy, turned around.

It was as though she knew he had already arrived.

The distance between them was not close, but Luo Ziling could see the smile that momentarily crossed Yang Qingyin's face upon seeing him.

That smile was like a shot of adrenaline, propelling Luo Ziling to cast aside any hesitations and stride over.

The boy standing with Yang Qingyin also turned his head to look at Luo Ziling as he walked assertively toward them.

As he approached, Luo Ziling, who had been looking at Yang Qingyin all this time, finally turned his gaze to the boy.

This was a man whose looks and demeanor were beyond reproach, reminiscent of the handsome and charming male stars seen on TV and in movies. Luo Ziling could also strongly sense an aura of privilege around him, which made him feel somewhat humbled in comparison.

Luo Ziling's eyes lingered on the boy for a moment before returning to Yang Qingyin, and he smiled a little bashfully.

Yang Qingyin's expression remained unchanged. She didn't seem embarrassed to have a handsome and attractive guy standing beside her, and her gaze towards Luo Ziling still carried a mesmerizing smile.

The handsome boy beside Yang Qingyin noticed the smile on her face, and it made him feel very uncomfortable.

After all, Yang Qingyin, who was known as the goddess of Yan University, usually had a proud demeanor in front of others, and it was rare to see her smile, let alone with such radiance.

He rarely saw such an attractive smile on her face and was momentarily captivated. But the smile from Yang Qingyin wasn't for him; it was for another boy, which instantly soured his mood. Nevertheless, his etiquette was impeccable. Despite feeling very uncomfortable and even developing a sense of hostility towards Luo Ziling without reason, he managed to keep a smile on his face and smiled slightly at Luo Ziling.

Luo Ziling returned the smile, though somewhat reluctantly.

Smiling at someone unfamiliar and unfriendly towards him was something he was not used to.

"I would like to hear him play a piece," Yang Qingyin seemed oblivious to the unfriendly exchange of glances between the two men, or perhaps she simply chose to ignore it. With a faint smile on her face, she said to the handsome boy, "Would you like to listen too?"

Seeing Yang Qingyin ask this question, Luo Ziling's heart skipped a beat; he could tell that there was an undercurrent of dismissal in her words.

Meaning, I want to listen to him play alone; it'd be best if you stepped aside.

A wave of unexplained joy swelled in his heart, like the feeling of being praised and rewarded by his grandfather as a child.

"I'm not knowledgeable in flutes and xiao, so I won't disturb your discussion on the music of the sheng and xiao," the boy clearly caught the hint in Yang Qingyin's words, feeling slightly irritated. However, he spoke gracefully, "I have something else to attend to. Let's make plans some other day."

With that, he nodded slightly to Luo Ziling and left with long strides.

Luo Ziling didn't expect the other to leave just like that and was slightly startled.

He wanted to ask Yang Qingyin what this was all about and who that man was, but the words caught in his throat and he swallowed them back.

If the other party could leave so casually and Yang Qingyin showed no intention to explain or introduce him, it would seem too unsophisticated to inquire.

"This flute was handcrafted for me by my grandfather, made from the bamboo of Tianshan's foothills," Luo Ziling said with a smile, holding up the flute in his hand, "This is the first time I've taken it out since arriving in the Capital."

Without asking about the previous incident, Yang Qingyin seemed slightly surprised, but she also felt reassured. The shy-looking young man in front of her really was different. She smiled again and said softly, "Your flute is very precious."

"It is so in terms of sentiment, and the same goes for its material," Luo Ziling said proudly, "Sourced from the foothills of Tianshan, the bamboo was soaked in snow water for two years before it was crafted, giving it a very rich and mellow sound quality."

"I'm privileged to have the pleasure of listening," Yang Qingyin laughed tenderly, her bright eyes staring directly at Luo Ziling.

Luo Ziling also flashed her a radiant smile, licking his lips before he placed the flute at his lips.

Soon, a light and uplifting melody began to waft over the lake, flowing smoothly and soothingly, much like the wind in the night.

The piece Luo Ziling played was the same "Autumn Dusk at the Mountain Residence" that Yang Qingyin had played the night before, only his rendition was more fluid and had more flavor. Anyone who listened carefully could feel the continuous autumn mood that flowed through the music.

As the piece ended, Luo Ziling had already lowered the flute from his lips, while Yang Qingyin was still intoxicated by the melody's charm.

"It's so beautiful, I was mesmerized," after a brief moment, Yang Qingyin turned her head and flashed Luo Ziling a radiant smile, "You can be my teacher!"

Her smile was too beautiful; Luo Ziling was momentarily distracted again.

Yang Qingyin saw Luo Ziling's brief lapse and couldn't help feeling a little smug.

"I've embarrassed myself," Luo Ziling returned a very natural smile, and then added, "I'm really afraid you'd laugh at me."

Yang Qingyin smiled again, with a tenderness and charm in her smile that made Luo Ziling feel his heart and soul sinking.

"Listening to your music today was quite rewarding," Yang Qingyin said playfully, looking at Luo Ziling, and spoke softly, "It's time to leave, I haven't had dinner yet."

"Eating on time and having three balanced meals a day keeps sickness at bay. Your health isn't very good, so you need to take care of yourself," Luo Ziling breathed a sigh of relief.

The feeling was too wonderful, and he had a sense of fearing both loss and gain, afraid of saying or doing something wrong that might separate them amidst the beautiful feeling; it was truly the best choice to part. However, when faced with Yang Qingyin's beautiful gaze, he couldn't help but remind her.

When he saw her yesterday, he had already noticed a slight illness in her demeanor. Hearing her talk like this today, he roughly understood what was going on.

"I eat when I want to, and when I don't feel like it, I can't be bothered," Yang Qingyin smiled playfully.

She didn't know why she was saying this to Luo Ziling.

"My grandfather is a traditional Chinese physician," Luo Ziling reached out his hand to Yang Qingyin.

Yang Qingyin was startled and looked at Luo Ziling quizzically, but she quickly understood what he meant.

After a slight hesitation, she reached out her hand to Luo Ziling.

Luo Ziling used three fingers to grip her delicate and smooth wrist, then took her pulse.

Seeing Luo Ziling looking very serious, Yang Qingyin could not help but want to laugh. In her suppressed giggles, she quietly asked, "Does this young lady have an illness?"

Luo Ziling nodded, almost without hesitation.

"You experience stomach pains from time to time, which is caused by irregular eating habits. Also, mild anemia, a result of your pickiness with food, which is why you often feel tired—most notably when squatting and then standing up. And there's more..."

Luo Ziling hesitated for a moment but did not continue.

Yang Qingyin was quite surprised by the diagnosis Luo Ziling had made for her.

Had he specifically inquired about her condition, or had he come to his conclusions simply by taking her pulse?

"What else?" She was very curious about the things Luo Ziling had left unsaid.
