Chapter 032 Someone's Looking for Trouble
Another day of military training ended.
Just as the stern instructor had given the dismissal command, the majority of the first-year Clinical Medicine class let out a collective groan.
Those who had still been standing with energy suddenly wilted like frostbitten eggplants, some even sat down on the ground with a plop, or lay down right after sitting, no longer wanting to move.
"Boss, seeing how energetic you are, don't you feel tired at all?" Cao Jianhui, whose skin had darkened, came over, patted Luo Ziling's shoulder, and said with a dissatisfied expression, "How are you so tough? You look as excited as if you were injected with chicken blood. Is it because all the pretty girls were cozying up to you during the training?"
During the military training, many of the girls in the class kept glancing at Luo Ziling, and girls from the neighboring class often came over to cozy up to him during the rest breaks, which made Cao Jianhui very envious and unsatisfied.
He couldn't help but feel inwardly that pretty boys were indeed favored.
"I like military training; it kind of feels like being a soldier," Luo Ziling said with pride, "I once thought about joining the military, but I definitely won't get the chance to realize that dream now. Now that I have the chance to taste what it's like, I don't feel tired at all."
During daily military training, Luo Ziling's actions were the most standard, and he was never scolded by the instructor. He was the one who received the most praise every day, which seemed incredible to the other students, and Luo Ziling was quite proud of himself.
Of course, what he had just said was exactly what he felt; he truly didn't feel tired.
Compared to the physical exertion required when he was forced by his grandfather to practice martial arts running through mountains and fields, military training was nothing.
"Boss, you're really awesome," Li Fuming also added, patting Luo Ziling's shoulder, "Seems like you're the most spirited one, right?"
"This is nothing," Luo Ziling replied casually, "When I was practicing martial arts as a kid, it was much harder than this by countless times."
"Boss, you're so skilled because you've practiced martial arts," Wu Longjiang immediately became interested upon hearing that Luo Ziling had practiced martial arts as a child, "Why not take us as your disciples? We'll all follow you and learn martial arts, and call you Master. How about that?"
"Can't even handle military training and you want to learn martial arts?" Luo Ziling looked at Wu Longjiang with a disdainful expression, "You better save your energy!"
Wu Longjiang felt quite struck by this, and was about to rush up and fight with Luo Ziling.
The four of them chatted and laughed as they walked towards the west gate of the school. Cao Jianhui suggested going out for dinner and offered to treat, to which the others naturally agreed.
However, not far from the military training field, when they reached a place where there weren't many pedestrians, a group of people closed in around them.
"Yo, someone's come for revenge," Cao Jianhui let go of Luo Ziling's shoulder, "It seems like they're prepared to beat us up."
Upon seeing the group, Li Fuming also quickly let go of Luo Ziling's shoulder and took two nervous steps back.
Luo Ziling had also seen the people circling around them; they were at least a dozen young men with tall stature and robust physique.
He didn't know whether these people were students from the school or thugs from outside, as he only recognized a few of them.
Strictly speaking, it wasn't recognition, just familiarity.
The leader was Jin Qicai, the same person who had had a conflict with him on a previous day, and could even be said to have been beaten up by him, but Luo Ziling didn't know his name. A few others who were with Jin Qicai and Li Jiaqing that day were there too, along with several other big guys he had never seen before.
"What the hell do you want?" Cao Jianhui was furious. He pointed at the crowd surrounding them with a finger as thick as a carrot and barked loudly, "In broad daylight, you actually want to gang up on us at school?"
"You first-year dogs, not knowing the height of the sky nor the breadth of the ground, dare to mess with us." Jin Qicai took a step forward, crossing his arms and angrily saying to Luo Ziling, "Thinking just because you've got a little bit of mediocre kung fu, you can oppose us. Today, you'll find out what happens when you irritate us."
Another burly man next to Jin Qicai, at least 1.9 meters tall and definitely weighing over 200 pounds, strode forward and gave Luo Ziling and his friends the middle finger. Then, pointing the finger downwards, he said with utter disdain, "Hurry up and apologize to us, and slap yourselves in the face twenty times. Otherwise, you're leaving here on your backs today."
The others took a step forward too and spread out, encircling Luo Ziling and his buddies.
"Isn't Yan University supposed to be a prestigious school? How come there's so much trash here at the school?" Luo Ziling looked puzzled as he spoke to a very nervous Cao Jianhui, "How can such a famous school be just like in the novels, where people bully the new students, using their power to abuse others?"
"They must be students from the sports department or from the Martial Arts Team," Cao Jianhui whispered to Luo Ziling: "They often look for fights, not just with students from the school, but also with outsiders, all to train their fighting skills."
After the conflict with Li Jiaqing, Jin Qicai, and others last time, Cao Jianhui had sought out information on these people. He knew that the members of the Martial Arts Team or those from the sports department often sparred in real fights to improve their combat skills.
Sometimes they would deliberately pick fights, with their sole purpose being to train.
It's only with regular practice that one's fighting skills improve.
Today, these people were definitely here for revenge because of the other day's incident. Beyond seeking revenge, they surely wanted some practice as well.
Seeing Luo Ziling and Cao Jianhui whispering, Jin Qicai thought they were scared and became even more arrogant, "Yue was right, kneel down and apologize to us, and each of you hit yourselves in the face twenty times. Kneel and hit yourself, then you can leave."
With that, he burst out laughing, took out his phone, and prepared to record a video.
The others also laughed along, some also took out their phones, ready to take photos or record videos.
Cao Jianhui had a fiery temper, and although the pressure from more than a dozen robust figures did make him somewhat uneasy, he couldn't stand their humiliation and jumped up, "Dammit, you're going too far! If you have the guts, bring it on. I'll play along today."
"Oh, someone's quite the tough guy," Jin Qicai said with amusement when he saw Cao Jianhui step forward, "Last time you dared to fight with our boss. If you have the guts today, step up, and let's see who's tougher."
"Let's do it, I'm not afraid of you," Cao Jianhui rolled up his sleeves, ready to rush forward, but he also remembered to warn the other side, "If you're a man, don't call for backup. We'll go one on one."
"Ha, quite cocky indeed," even though he had seen Luo Ziling's moves that day and knew he was skilled, Jin Qicai wasn't the slightest bit afraid given the number of comrades around him. Eager to regain some face in front of them, he agreed right away, "Fine, whoever calls for help is a coward. Today, let's show this first-year dog just how formidable I am."
Having been humiliated in the fight that day, Jin Qicai felt he had lost face in front of his friends.
Today, no matter what, he had to regain his dignity.
But just as Cao Jianhui was about to rush forward and fight Jin Qicai, Luo Ziling held him back.
"Get out of the way; don't block my path," Luo Ziling's face turned cold as he warned the others.
Gone was the shyness he normally showed around girls, replaced by an icy countenance.
But his words were met with ridicule from Jin Qicai and his friends.
