The Young Urban Doctor

Chapter 030 A Beautiful Encounter

The day after the new student registration concluded, following a university-wide mobilization meeting with faculty and students, the President announced that the military training for the freshman was officially starting.

The first day of military training began in the afternoon, consisting merely of the simplest drill training. The intensity was not high, and everyone felt relaxed.

Luo Ziling, clad in his training uniform, appeared even more handsome, attracting a lot of attention from female students. Some bold girls even took the initiative to ask for his phone number, WeChat, and QQ.

Not good at refusing others, Luo Ziling gave out his WeChat and QQ information, and soon after, he saw many comments and likes on the moment/posts he had previously made on his timeline. Everyone praised his handsome and carefree appearance, and reading this made him unable to hide his sense of pride.

Later, he asked Cao Jianhui to take a cool photo of him in uniform to post online, which drew quite a crowd of onlookers.

Li Jing was the first to like it and commented, "So handsome, so handsome, so handsome," followed by several heart-eyes emojis, which made Luo Ziling's heart bloom with joy.

A WeChat friend named "Yue" also commented, praising him for looking cool and good-looking, jokingly warning him not to be tricked away by girls.

The girls who had just added him all left comments and likes, but he didn't see any comment from "Fangfei Jin."

Back in the small village, Luo Ziling had no playmates and rarely interacted with the locals, though when the village aunts and wives saw him, they would say he was handsome. However, the feeling of pride was nowhere near as strong as it was now.

He liked being praised and recognized by others; he'd been too lonely all these years.

The first day of military training was quite relaxed, and after it was over, everyone was in a cheerful mood.

They had no idea that the days to come would be so tough.

After having dinner at the cafeteria with his three dormmates, Cao Jianhui said he had to leave for a bit without much explanation and quickly took off. Li Fuming and Wu Longjiang also looked mysterious, telling Luo Ziling to go back to the dorm first as they had something to do.

Luo Ziling didn't know what these three guys were up to and didn't ask further.

After saying farewell to the three lads, he returned to the dorm, took a shower, changed clothes, and feeling a bit bored, decided to step out and wander around the campus. It was still early, the sky hadn't darkened yet—it was the perfect time for a stroll.

Just arriving at Yan University for registration, he wasn't very familiar with the school yet. He didn't know how big the campus was or what the scenery was like.

The setting sun to the west was just falling between several tall buildings, casting a golden twilight and making everything in sight beautiful and soft. Admiring the beautiful campus view, Luo Ziling suddenly thought of taking a walk by Lake Wuming.

Lake Wuming was the most famous landscape feature inside Yan University's campus. Although Luo Ziling didn't know much about Yan University, he was still aware of this place. With the thought, he didn't hesitate and strolled towards Lake Wuming.

At this time, there weren't many students around Lake Wuming, as most were either dining in the cafeteria or other places.

The sun set quickly, and before long, it was no longer visible, though its afterglow remained, making the whole area around Lake Wuming peaceful and beautiful.

This was unanimously agreed upon as the most beautiful scenic spot in the entire Yan University, and Luo Ziling felt the same.

He was enraptured by the beautiful scenery.

With hands clasped behind his back, he walked slowly towards Lake Heart Island, admiring the scenery on both sides.

Strolling leisurely without any restrictions or cares—this feeling was truly wonderful.

At this hour, there were very few people around Lake Wuming, probably because many had not finished their dinners yet.

In the gradually deepening twilight, the bridge leading to Lake Heart Island was visible.

After walking past a small path framed by a few tall willow trees, Luo Ziling quickened his pace.

Up ahead, a row of bushes around two meters tall obscured the bridge. Seeing no one around, Luo Ziling, feeling playful, took a short run and jumped over a slightly lower gap in the bushes.

His leaping ability was exceptional. With just a short run-up, he could clear over two meters in height.

But before his feet had even touched the ground, he heard a startled cry.

A girl in a long white dress was just coming from the other side of the bushes. As Luo Ziling jumped over, he nearly collided with her. The girl, lost in her thoughts before him, was startled by Luo Ziling's sudden appearance and instinctively let out a cry of surprise.

Equally startled, Luo Ziling quickly sidestepped to avoid her.

Making use of his agility, he twisted his body mid-air and barely avoided the girl.

She too sidestepped instinctively.

"I'm so sorry," Luo Ziling repeatedly apologized, as embarrassed as one could be.

Thankfully, he didn't bump into her; otherwise, he really might have knocked the girl to the ground.

As he apologized, the girl who had steadied herself looked up at him.

She was quite tall, likely no shorter than 1.7 meters, and stood face to face with Luo Ziling, almost eye to eye.

The moment their gazes locked, Luo Ziling felt as if he had been electrified, his body shuddering involuntarily, and a dizzy feeling arose in his brain.

Unable to utter the apology he intended, he stood there with his mouth agape.

He was struck dumb—she was so beautiful, which was his first reaction upon seeing the girl clearly.

She was gentle like the caress of a tender willow in a breeze, tipsy like a warm day in spring, dazzling like blooming flowers, intimate like a soft spring rain—Luo Ziling couldn't describe her beauty with words; all he felt was astonishment.

Lively yet reserved, tender yet beautiful, as if a celestial fairy—this was the type of girl Luo Ziling fancied.

He loved Huaxia's classical culture, and likewise adored girls filled with antique charm and gentleness—with skirts fluttering in the wind, long hair flowing freely.

His heart was pounding violently, an unprecedented feeling surging within him.

What astonished him more was that, looking at this girl, it felt like seeing a friend he had known for many years. There was a sense of familiarity, a relaxed disposition, free from constraint, and without any of the indescribable pressure he felt when he stood next to Ouyang Feifei.

As the girl looked at him and naturally brushed away a lock of hair that had fallen over her forehead, upon seeing Luo Ziling's dumbfounded gaze, she also naturally lowered her head. This gesture made Luo Ziling momentarily lose himself; he felt as if his heart had sunk.

"Most emotional was that one gesture of gentleness," her movement unexpectedly reminded him of a line of poetry by Xu Zhimo.
