The Young Urban Doctor

Chapter 021 That's a Matter for Later

Ouyang Huihui's excitement was completely ignored by Ouyang Feifei, who remained elegantly reclined on the sofa, saying lazily, "He is a freshman at Yanjing University Medical School, in the same university as you."

"Hah, that's great," Ouyang Huihui couldn't contain her excitement, "I'll have plenty of chances to teach him a lesson in the future."

Ouyang Huihui was also a freshman at Yanjing University this year, majoring in International Finance, not in the same college as Luo Ziling.

"Grandfather was cured of his illness by his grandfather, and my illness was also treated by his grandfather; no matter what, the Luo Family has a life-saving grace towards our Ouyang Family. If it weren't for Grandfather Luo's help, Grandfather might have died a long time ago, and I wouldn't have had the chance to grow up," Ouyang Feifei said, as she stood up from the sofa and walked over to the full-length mirror to adjust her clothes.

Looking at the reflection in the mirror, so beautiful she was almost envious of herself, Ouyang Feifei let out a small sigh.

Although she had always been resistant to the marriage arranged by Grandfather, she clearly remembered following him to the Northwest to seek treatment from Luo Ziling's grandfather at seven years old, when Luo Ziling took her to play around the village. Those two months were the most carefree of her childhood, and she had learned a lot during the time she spent with Luo Ziling.

She vividly remembered that once, when she followed Luo Ziling on a mountain climbing trip and accidentally twisted her ankle and couldn't walk because of the pain, the two-years-younger Luo Ziling diligently massaged it for her, found some herbal medicine to apply to the injury, and then carried her down the mountain.

At seven years old, with tears streaming down her face from the injury in front of five-year-old Luo Ziling, the five-year-old Luo Ziling kept comforting her and carried her down the mountain. Thinking back on it now, she couldn't help but feel a strange sensation in her heart.

Another time, she witnessed him kill a wolf nearly the size of a dog and even grill the wolf meat for her to eat.

The little man who acted quite heroically, even daring to fight with wild beasts, actually left a pretty good impression in her heart.

The main reason she opposed this marriage arrangement was that she didn't like others making decisions about her life, especially when it came to matters of love; she wanted to be in charge. Another important reason was that she was two years older than Luo Ziling, and she didn't like the idea of her future husband being like a little brother to her.

But she never dreamt that the marriage arrangement Grandfather Luo kept going on about and had other expectations for, emphasizing the duty to honor, would end up like this.

When she heard Luo Ziling awkwardly speak of wanting to call off the engagement, she was genuinely angry.

As she walked Luo Ziling out, showing him the gift he had given her that she had kept all this time, she felt like throwing the beautiful crystal jade stone with a heart pattern inside, which she had always treasured, right into Luo Ziling's face.

When had she ever been so humiliated?

For years, she had been like a princess, with countless men revolving around her.

Those men, with their status, looks, and wealth, would be insulted if merely described as rich and handsome.

Accustomed to being on a pedestal, she had always believed men should only please her, make her happy.

Therefore, she was furious, and she wanted to make Luo Ziling understand the consequences of scorning a woman.

Ouyang Huihui walked over to Ouyang Feifei and, looking at their reflections in the mirror, whispered, "Sis, could you fall in love with him?"

Ouyang Feifei remained silent.

"Sis, if you really fell for him, would you... end up marrying him?" Ouyang Huihui whispered even more quietly.

"That's something for later!"

Ouyang Huihui had gotten used to such responses from her sister and didn't mind, but after thinking it over, she couldn't help but ask resentfully, "Sis, can you tell me about what happened between Ling Ruonan and that bastard's father back then?"

"No!" Ouyang Feifei rejected it very decisively.

"Sis, can you talk to me about it?" Ouyang Huihui wasn't giving up. She pulled at Ouyang Feifei's hand, coquettishly begging, "If you don't tell me, I won't be able to sleep. Please, will you tell me?"

"No," Ouyang Feifei still flatly refused, but after thinking for a moment, she added, "Go ask Grandfather yourself!"

"Then forget it," Ouyang Huihui lacked the courage to ask Ouyang Lingyun, who had always been somewhat dissatisfied with her. She knew that even if she did ask, Grandfather wouldn't tell her, and might even scold her for asking.

Ouyang Feifei didn't say anything else and went back to leisurely sipping her tea in her chair, looking thoughtful.

Just then, a servant came to call them, saying Ouyang Lingyun summoned the sisters to discuss a matter.

Ouyang Feifei immediately stood up and went to Ouyang Lingyun's room.

Ouyang Huihui thought for a moment, then followed.

Drinking tea and contemplating in his study, Ouyang Lingyun simply extended his hand to signal when he saw Ouyang Feifei and Ouyang Huihui enter, indicating that the sisters should sit on the sofa.

"Feifei, Grandfather didn't expect things to turn out this way," Ouyang Lingyun chuckled bitterly, "I thought his visit to Yanjing was to propose marriage, not to break off an engagement. Grandfather is very surprised and disappointed."

"Grandfather," Ouyang Feifei carried an indifferent demeanor, "Since he's come to break off the engagement, then it's over."

Ouyang Lingyun gave Ouyang Feifei a few glances, but said nothing more, only letting out a long sigh.

"Grandfather," Ouyang Huihui couldn't stand the sight of Ouyang Lingyun looking this way, and couldn't help but complain, "That bastard is not worthy of sister at all. Now that the marriage arrangement is gone, sister needn't worry about it anymore. I really don't understand why you're so upset."

"Leave," Ouyang Lingyun was already in a bad mood and Ouyang Huihui had been causing trouble several times. Now hearing her say this, he lost his temper, "Go back to your room and reflect properly, starting tomorrow, you'll stay in the school dormitory, be a normal student, no more driving sports cars, and you mustn't let anyone know you are from the Ouyang family."

Ouyang Huihui was startled, but in the end, she returned to her room with a pout, reluctantly.

Ouyang Feifei acted as if she had seen nothing, with no change in expression.

"Feifei, you should understand Grandfather's thoughts. If the marriage alliance had worked out, perhaps our Ouyang family would have climbed several more steps, and we wouldn't have to fear threats from other families. Besides, you are not repelled by him," Ouyang Lingyun looked at Ouyang Feifei, speaking with a voice tinged with loss, "Furthermore, your health still requires their grandfather-grandson's treatment. If you were married, many concerns would be needless. What a pity!"

"Grandfather, I haven't had an attack for years; it shouldn't be a big concern now!" Ouyang Feifei remained unperturbed, ignoring what Ouyang Lingyun had said earlier, "I once went to the best hospital in Yanjing for an examination, and they didn't find any problems. I should be cured."

Ouyang Lingyun shook his head, "Old Mr. Luo's letter stated that your disease has yet to be completely cured. Back then, you were too young for a full cure, and over the years, you have been taking the medication he provided, which is why it's been under control. He said that these next few years are the best opportunity for a complete cure, but if we wait a few more years, it'll be too late again. Luo Ziling's medical skills have already proved authentic. Old Mr. Luo was planning for Ziling to treat you, to help you recover your health completely."

"Without the marriage arrangement, it still shouldn't be a problem for him to treat my illness, right?" Ouyang Feifei smiled faintly, inspired by her grandfather's words, "He's a doctor. Hiring him for treatment and paying the medical fees shouldn't be an issue, right?"

"That's the only option we have left!" Ouyang Lingyun nodded, "In a few days, I'll invite him over for a meal and have him examine your health. This time, Old Mr. Luo has given him several secret prescriptions, hoping he could give them to us."

"Grandfather, we'll perform every courtesy. Whether they are willing to give the medicine or not is up to them."

Ouyang Feifei had a plan in mind, her lips still slightly raised, appearing somewhat happy.
