The Worst Villain is Actually a Cute Girl

Chapter 42

Chapter 42: The One Who Seeks to Sit on Greed's Throne

Red took off from the waiting area with swift and unhesitant speed.

Normally, the people gathered in the plaza would have played the games prepared by the organizers, engaging in fierce battles for survival.

But Red had no intention of playing along.

Right now, she just needed to find and subdue the one behind this mess.

A game where robots equipped with sensors would turn their heads and snipe participants detected by the sensors.

Red dashed between the bullets at lightning speed and broke through in an instant.

A game where the walls on either side closed in, forcing players to adjust their posture to survive.

Red outran the speed of the closing walls with ease.

A game requiring players to cross a bridge with mixed panes of reinforced and normal glass within a time limit—where bad luck meant a fatal fall.

Red traversed the glass panes much faster than the speed of a falling body, crossing effortlessly.

More perilous games that easily took human lives continued to target Red.

But she cleared them all without a scratch.

In these games, Red was nothing short of a bug.

And the bug simply bulldozed through them head-on.

She arrived alone at the final goal with absurd ease.

It was a vast plaza, with dust swirling in the air.

Red looked around.

There was nothing.

An enormous and foreign presence was filling the space, so overwhelming it could be felt from afar, yet it remained unseen.

Then, a sound echoed through the plaza, and the ground trembled.

The floor split open, revealing a massive figure rising above it.

A colossal mechanical beast.

Seated atop the machine was a single man.

A man with blue hair and a strikingly handsome face.

His features were so gentle and refined that they could easily captivate both men and women alike.

That very man sat with his legs crossed, resting his chin on one hand, gazing at Red with a deep and knowing look.

Red looked up at the man staring down at her.

With cold, piercing eyes.

Not only was he far from her type, but his body reeked of ominous energy and the putrid stench of decay.

It was the unmistakable aura of someone who had taken lives without hesitation.

"Is it you? The one managing this place?"

Despite Red’s menacing expression—enough to make even the boldest people cower—

The man showed no signs of fear. Instead, his handsome face twisted slightly in displeasure.

"This is troublesome," the man murmured softly.

After letting out a long sigh, he spoke.

"Ah~ You really are just as rough and ill-mannered as the rumors say. You completely ruined the games I worked so hard to prepare. Thanks to you, my carefully laid plans fell apart instantly."

The man had three objectives.

One was personal.

The other two were favors he had accepted.

One of those favors had now failed to go as planned.

Because of her overwhelming skill, his scheme had unraveled far too easily.

"Originally, during the games, I wanted participants to fight, struggle, and betray one another—whether for money or survival. I wanted to draw out the ugliest sides of human nature and show you the raw truth of humanity. Then, at the very end, when you were the last one standing, I wanted to ask you—do you still believe in people? But now it’s all ruined."

Letting out a sigh, the man covered his face with both hands and bowed his head deeply.

His shoulders trembled.

Was he in despair over his failed plan?

Yet, faint laughter leaked from him.

A chuckle, then a snicker.

When he finally lowered his hands, his face showed no sign of disappointment.

Rather, he wore a satisfied grin.

"Well, it doesn’t matter. I didn’t really expect things to go as planned anyway. After all, I knew these childish games wouldn’t work on you. You’re the infamous Crime Killer—the one who smashes all the world's evil with her fists!"

His eerily curled lips soon settled into a composed expression.

"I simply set up this stage for you while fulfilling my own objective and doing a favor for an acquaintance. But fine. If the actor refuses to follow the director’s script, there’s nothing I can do."

Red’s eyes narrowed.

"Who are you?"

As if just remembering something important, the man clapped his hands.

With an elegant gesture, he bowed slightly at the waist.

A cruel smile spread across his face.

"My name is Adam. The man who will take the throne of Greed. Remember my name well on your final journey. After all, you should at least know the name of the man who defeats you."

Red memorized Adam’s name and face, tilting her head slightly.

"That’s strange. The Squard Amusement Park is funded by a wealthy philanthropist. A piece of trash like you shouldn’t have been able to sneak in and prepare such a massive setup."

“Keuk keuk keuk. That wealthy man got his money from me.

I gave him the money and, just for fun, ordered him to create this place.

Sitting up here and watching people run around in confusion—it's such a thrilling feeling~.”

Seeing the ecstatic expression on Adam’s face, Red frowned.

“What a disgusting hobby.”

“Heh heh hit. But it’s a pleasure only someone as rich as me can afford.”

“But the Throne of Greed… Are you talking about the Seven Deadly Sins?

You called it an empty throne—does that mean the other two are dead?”

“No. Strictly speaking, the two you missed are still alive and well.

But they’ve already been defeated once.

They’re practically as good as gone.

That’s why I plan to take that seat.”

Adam crossed his legs, clasped his hands together, and rested his chin on them.

A wide, sinister grin stretched across his lips.

His murky eyes, swirling with greed and desire, shimmered deeply.

“You see~ I want to sit in the position of Greed among the Seven Deadly Sins.

It suits me, don’t you think?

And I’ll fill the rest of the seats with my own people.

My dream is to become the hidden mastermind pulling the strings of this world.”

Adam’s face, as he spoke candidly about his dreams, resembled that of an innocent child.

Sparkling, passionate, and purely wicked.

“But!!”

The gentle expression on Adam’s face twisted into rage, veins bulging on his forehead.

“You keep interfering with my dream!

Crime Killer, Red!!

Lost in your ridiculous hero play, do you know how many organizations you’ve destroyed had my money invested in them?

What’s the point of working from the shadows when you show up and ruin everything?”

“Yeah. I think I’ve got a pretty good idea of what kind of person you are now.

But what were you doing all this time?

Why are you only coming after me now?

Just curious—could it be that you’re scared of me?”

At the sneer lingering on Red’s lips, Adam burst into angry denial.

“As if!!!”

Adam took a slow, deep breath.

As he regained some composure, Red let out a bitter chuckle.

“To be honest, I wasn’t ready to fight you until now.

But that’s over.

All the pieces are in place.”

“I see. Understood.”

Red pulled down the leather gloves on her hands.

Clenching her fists, she took her stance.

“The rest—I’ll hear it after I take you down.”

“Yes! That’s the spirit!

That makes my appearance here all the more worthwhile.

But before that!!”

Adam snapped his fingers.

A crisp, clear sound rang through the air.

Snap.

Right between Red and Adam.

A massive hologram appeared, floating in midair.

Like a child about to enjoy something fun, Adam wore a cruel yet delighted grin.

“Let’s play one final game.”

Red’s brow furrowed slightly as she looked at the screen.

Displayed on it was a plaza filled with people.

The problem was that in the north, south, east, and west, four giant monsters loomed.

“As you can see, I’ve sent my pieces into the waiting area of the participants.

The moment I give the order, those creatures will move to kill every last person in the plaza.”

Isaac’s smile grew even more sadistic.

“The game is simple.

It’s either me or them—you have to choose one.”

As long as Red focused on fending off Adam’s attacks, the monsters would remain still.

But the moment Red moved, the creatures would begin their massacre.

A simple rule, just as Adam had said—but one that was overwhelmingly unfair for Red.

Faced with such an unbalanced game, Red’s expression hardened.

Seeing that reaction, Adam chuckled and continued speaking.

“I wonder what choice the righteous fist will make?

Will you keep swinging your fists in silence, even as a mountain of powerless corpses rises and rivers of blood flow, all in the name of eradicating evil?”

Adam stretched out his right arm.

“Or will you abandon that flimsy sense of justice, endure the silent suffering, and save all those lives?”

Next, he stretched out his left arm.

With both arms fully extended, he thrust them toward Red.

Then, in a booming voice—

“Nowwwww! Choose!”

The moment his words ended—

Boom!

The massive, violent mechanical beast Adam was riding exploded.

“Isn’t it obvious? I’ll take you down and save the people too.”

Red kicked off the ground, lunging toward Adam with a fist aimed straight at him.

The mechanical beast moved swiftly to protect Adam, sacrificing itself in the process.

Barely managing to shield him.

Of course, the force of the explosion sent Adam flying through the air.

He crashed onto the ground, rolling spectacularly.

Covered in dirt and dust, Adam coughed violently.

Annoyed by Red’s unwavering determination, he pushed himself up.

Wiping the dust off his lips with his arm, he spoke.

“Foolish! You think that’s possible? You’ll die here by my hand.

Or do you believe in those people in the waiting area?

Do you think they can defeat those monsters?

Even if there are a few Problem Solvers among them, the Four Beasts I placed there are absolutely unbeatable.”

Adam continued speaking without hesitation.

“The Four Beasts over there—I sent the strongest ones in my deck.

To make the despair even greater.

Each of them requires multiple SS-rank Problem Solver teams just to take one down!”

Adam burst into laughter, Kwahahaha!

He was indeed caught off guard by how little time Red spent hesitating.

But that only made her decision all the more entertaining.

A bold judgment and cold resolve, willing to sacrifice anything to eradicate evil.

A distorted heroism, far removed from the heroes found in books.

It only confirmed that she was no different from the people in this city.

“So, you really wanted to play hero that badly!

Now, Crime Killer Red, watch carefully—see the outcome of your little hero game!!”

Adam swung his arms wide, staring directly at Red’s expression.

Just to see her face.

But instead of what he expected, Adam’s body stiffened.

What? Why? How come?

Red’s face was indifferent.

Her attitude was so nonchalant that Adam suddenly felt a sense of unease.

“Why do you have that look?”

“Who knows?

Maybe it’s because I believe in the possibility I once considered….”

At her cryptic words, Adam furrowed his brows.

Red, reminiscing about something, quietly shifted her gaze to the screen.

Adam followed her gaze.

The entire screen displaying the plaza suddenly went black.
