Chapter 13: EP 13: New Donation Strategy
I clapped for a long time before letting out another sigh of admiration for the author's 'design.'
Let's be honest.
The main reason I followed this comic was because I had donated 100,000 won to change the Bible and alter history, effectively concluding Erin's journey to becoming a saint.
She had already become a saintess, an entity that would listen to my voice anytime, so what need was there to spend money?
So, I thought there wouldn't be any need to donate such a large sum of money like 100,000 won for a while.
A donation of 1,000 won was enough to create ordinary, acceptable miracles, after all.
I did make small donations with the hope that Erin would be recognized and succeed as a saint, but that was it.
Considering the labor of drawing the comic, a donation of 1,000 won wouldn't have been profitable from the artist's perspective.
But what if the author had suddenly drawn a meteor and then said, 'If you don't donate, a meteor will fall and kill Erin! To eliminate the meteor, you need at least XX million won! Please save Erin with your donation!'?
Even if it were me, I would have been so pissed off by such an absurd, nonsensical plot that I would have stopped donating and just stopped reading the comic. Of course, this work was already absurd since I became a god, but still, the fact that it would be a shit show if a meteor fell while I was deeply immersed in it remained unchanged.
The author, being an expert in over-engagement, must know what I know, right?
So, they introduced it. A new character!
I mean, characters who would face trials needing divine blessings— or rather, donations!
New Donation Strategy!
I never imagined I'd think of a term you'd only hear in games while reading a comic.
Just then, a message from the author popped up at a perfect time.
[PleaseGiveMoney: Here's a short comic strip with a brief story about two potential holy knights.]
[PleaseGiveMoney: zxcwww.wo.to <<< Linea von Einzbern / wwdzxw.wo.to <<< Ophelia Translente]
[PleaseGiveMoney: Please check them out and appoint your chosen one as the holy knight!]
They don't force immediate donations.
But once I appoint a holy knight, then the 'urge to donate' will start to bloom one by one, just like it did with Erin!
However... honestly, I loved harem stories. The more heroines, the better, right? What's wrong with that?
I felt a little sorry for Erin, but since it was a holy knight to protect her, she wouldn't mind me favoring them, I thought.
'Am I seriously thinking that the comic characters might feel upset?'
Shivers!
Feeling goosebumps crawl up my spine, I chugged a glass of cold water.
This author, what a scary bastard...!!
[Iggokden: LOL, nice design for the new donation strategy]
[PleaseGiveMoney: New donation strategy? I don't understand what you mean...]
[PleaseGiveMoney: I am merely reflecting the changing world through your donations in my manga.]
[Iggokden: Yeah, if the author says so, then that's how it is.]
[Iggokden: The author is like the god of this world.]
[PleaseGiveMoney: Oh my... Iggokden, please watch your words.]
[PleaseGiveMoney: I'm just an observer, the only true god of this world is you, Iggokden.]
Ugh, I should stop engaging with this.
Instead of responding, I checked out the comic from the link the author sent.
They even organized everything with links; such thorough preparation... I thought while clicking.
'Phew.'
After finishing the short comic review.
Here's the summary of these two characters:
First, Ophelia Translente.
She's a typical female knight character with deep faith, excellent swordsmanship, and a cool demeanor.
She dreams of being a knight and has the talent for it. Her long red hair and her badass knightly armor were a pass.
I liked red-haired, busty female knights, so I wanted to give her extra points for her hair color and figure.
The scene where she shows her sincerity by saying she would dedicate everything to 'the one true god, Iggokden', instead of following her easy path after the saint was born, was satisfying.
However, her biggest flaw was that she's a bit of a hardhead.
She seemed to lack common sense compared to others, the type you'd want to help because she might get easily scammed. Isn't that a common cliché?
If you choose Ophelia, you'd have fun nurturing a not-so-smart woman into the best knight.
There would probably be some cliché, enjoyable misinterpretations like, "Ophelia, did you know this would happen...?!", when things unexpectedly turn out well.
Some might find it childish, but I liked those stories, so I wanted to give extra points for that too.
Next up, Linea von Einzbern.
She originally wanted to be a mage but realized she had no talent and thus walked the path of the sword.
She had long golden hair and beautiful blue eyes, symbolizing royalty. Maybe because more effort was put into her art, I thought she was prettier than Ophelia.
Just one thing, her breasts was a bit less impressive than Ophelia's... but those who like balanced figures would prefer her.
From the storyline, choosing Linea seemed to benefit Erin and the church politically.
It's more politically correct to compromise than to have two massive powers constantly clashing.
The biggest issue was that Linea's faith wasn't particularly strong.
Her reason for aiming to be a holy knight was just one: 'The royal family needs influence in the church.'
She's essentially a character sold from the royal family to the church, with a tragic fate.
Even in the comic, she keeps saying things like, "God doesn't exist. You have to overcome trials by yourself without relying on such things," emphasizing her lack of faith.
If you choose Linea, you could enjoy the thrill of making her 'fall into faith' through your donations.
As miracles happen one by one before her eyes, she might first dismiss them as coincidence, but...
As these miracles accumulate, leading to situations where only the existence of a god could explain them, saving her life in the process?
Faith Fall!
Wouldn't she become the most devout holy knight, worshipping me?
A situation where you'd want to donate regardless of who you choose!
The knightly and royal 'assets' that seem to be maximized to please me!
'I like how their intentions are so transparent.'
Whether their intentions are visible or not isn't really the issue.
In fact, what I was concerned about wasn't these two characters but something else.
[Iggokden: I've seen them all.]
[Iggokden: They're both pretty... huhuhu]
[PleaseGiveMoney: Is that so? I'm glad. I was relieved since they were selected to match your taste.]
So, they were selected to match my taste?
Clearly intentional, yet the author's audacity is shameless.
[Iggokden: But I have a question.]
[PleaseGiveMoney: Please ask, Iggokden.]
Despite both new characters being quite charming as per the author's words—
There was one fact I absolutely couldn't overlook.
[Iggokden: Cecilia brought three photos, right?]
[Iggokden: But why are you and Cecilia only highlighting two?]
[Iggokden: Is there a reason?]
Yes.
Cecilia clearly brought three photos to Erin, saying they were candidates for holy knight.
That means there's definitely a third candidate, aside from Ophelia and Linea.
Yet, neither the author nor the characters in the story mention this third candidate, focusing only on the two.
Erin didn't even look at the photos, busy praying to me, but shouldn't someone mention this?
Honestly, it wasn't entirely puzzling.
Looking at the photos, I could guess why they weren't mentioned to me.
A simple black ponytail tied with a plain ribbon, average facial features, and a moderately sized chest.
Unlike the two characters in flashy, pretty armor emphasizing their assets, she was in plain armor without any distinctive features.
Secondary character.
That word suited her best.
Maybe they didn't even draw her comic in advance?
[PleaseGiveMoney: Well...]
[PleaseGiveMoney: If you want to see it, I can certainly show you.]
[PleaseGiveMoney: But it might take some time to observe, is that okay?]
Does that mean the comic isn't ready?
I was about to just choose one of the two out of sheer laziness, but...
'No.'
From the dialogue in the story, being selected as a holy knight candidate itself seems like an achievement. Wouldn't it be unfair if I, acting as a god, didn't even look into it?
I laughed at my own over-involvement but decided to stop caring about that now.
[Iggokden: Yeah, send it.]
[PleaseGiveMoney: Understood. I'll be right back. Please wait a moment.]
Huh? Wait a moment?
I thought it would take until tomorrow if they had to draw a new comic.
Surprisingly, the author sent a link back in just 10 minutes.
[PleaseGiveMoney: axcqwz.wo.to <<< Here it is.]
'What? They drew it in advance?'
But why not show it together?
I felt a bit of discomfort... But that was quickly consumed by my curiosity and vanished somewhere.
I carefully clicked on the link to the comic featuring the information about the third, unmentioned female knight.
