The world has turned into Hell's Game, why should I stay human?!

Chapter 605: Pre-Battle Attrition

After exchanging some pleasantries with the Bai Family members who had arrived, the group left the stronghold.

After heading east for about ten minutes, the view ahead suddenly opened up.

A lush grassland stretched out to the horizon, ending in a range of mountains that appeared like giant beasts, visibly looming in the distance.

"Crossing this grassland will lead us to the Ten Thousand Great Mountains."

Bai San pointed to the distant mountains and said.

"Does this grassland have some kind of significance as well?"

Liu Zheng asked.

"No, it's just an ordinary grassland. But the grass here tastes really bad and has low nutritional value, so many herbivores are reluctant to eat it."

Bai San said.

"Didn't you add any effects like vitality or beauty to it?"

He raised his eyebrows and said.

Not to mention poor taste, people still flock to it if it has vitality, if it has beauty benefits, regardless of it being filthy or smelly.

"No. There are too many capable people in Metropolis; forget about City Hall, even the customers themselves can determine if it's effective, so it's easy to expose any false claims."

Bai San shook his head and replied.

"I see."

Liu Zheng glanced instinctively at Doctor Nile.

So, does that mean the mummies transformed by the La Clan are indeed effective?

"Humph!"

Doctor Nile glared at him but didn't argue.

Bai San also noticed their interaction but didn't pay it much attention.

The trend of eating mummies is over, and now selling mummies is purely for medicinal value, which doesn't bother the Bai Family financially.

"Boss, can I get out of the car for a moment?"

Niu Daji suddenly spoke up.

"For what? To relieve yourself randomly? Be careful that if you do halfway, the sanitation department might come to catch you."

Liu Zheng joked half-seriously.

"No, no, I cleared my inventory before coming. I just want to try these grasses to see how bad they taste, hehe."

Niu Daji scratched his head and said.

"Are you seriously into eating grass?"

He asked in surprise.

"In Metropolis, anyone who can speak is basically omnivorous, though depending on race and personality, dietary preferences obviously vary."

Doctor Nile explained.

Niu Ma finds that vegetarian food digests and absorbs more easily, but quality vegetarian meals are even more expensive than good meat, so it mostly eats meat.

"Oh, okay then. Go give it a try."

Liu Zheng signaled Lao Si to park the car.

Kids from the countryside are unfamiliar with the world; they want to try everything they see once they're out.

He was like this before, so he understood Niu Daji well.

"Thanks, Boss."

Niu Daji happily got out of the car, pulled some one of the more tender-looking grass stems, and put them in his mouth.

"Chew chew chew..."

His cheeks moved a few times, and then his eyes lit up.

"Chew chew chew..."

Niu Daji pulled a few more.

"Delicious!"

He showed an excited expression and simply transformed into a bull, munching happily away.

"Something's not right."

Liu Zheng and Doctor Nile immediately realized.

"Daji, stop eating!"

He shouted sternly.

Doctor Nile also prepared to cast a spell, as the Blue Sapphire Sacred Beetle on his chest emitted a bright light.

"Huh?"

Niu Daji was startled by Liu Zheng's yell and quickly stopped munching on the grass, looking over at him.

"Boss, did you call me?"

It asked with a confused expression.

"Yes, I called you. Get back in the car right now, or you'll be expelled from the gang."

Liu Zheng commanded with a serious expression.

"Alright, boss."

Niu Daji, having never seen him be so strict, instantly shivered and hurriedly scrambled back into the car.

"Boss, I'm back, hehe."

It said with a sycophantic smile.

"Slap!"

Liu Zheng mercilessly slapped it.

Of course, he slapped its forehead.

"What kind of madness are you on?"

He asked.

"Huh? I just ate some grass, that's all. You didn't say those grasses were forbidden to eat."

Niu Daji said innocently.

"But you were munching away so eagerly that anyone watching wouldn't know if you were getting addicted."

Liu Zheng said speechlessly.

"I don't know either; I just found the grass quite tasty, the more I ate, the better it felt."

"Shut up. Doctor, can you please have a look?"

He glared at Niu Daji and then spoke to Doctor Nile.

"Alright."

Doctor Nile nodded, got out of the car and picked a few pieces of grass, looked at them, smelled them, and tasted them.

"Nothing's wrong with the grass; in fact, it tastes really bad. The better ones are like chewing rubber, and the worse ones are like chewing rubber turned into tires."

He said after returning to the car.

"Wait, you can eat tires so eagerly too? You want me to test it with the spare tire?"

Liu Zheng taunted.

"Huh? Boss, do you really want me to?"

Niu Daji said with a bitter face.

"Has your sense of taste always been so different from normal bulls?"

He asked.

"No, I've always been pretty normal."

"Then think carefully why this happens. If you can't figure it out, you'll be eating that spare tire."

Liu Zheng threatened.

"Huh?!"

Niu Daji was dumbfounded but, seeing his serious demeanor, could only take the matter seriously and start thinking.

"Oh, right. Doctor Medical Bee said my senses might undergo some changes during treatment, but it'll get better after therapy is finished."

After a while, it said.

"Why didn't you mention something this important earlier?"

Liu Zheng said through gritted teeth.

"I was afraid you'd worry, boss. Plus, I tried and nothing weird happened later, so I thought I got lucky and avoided it."

Niu Daji said sheepishly.

"You think? Save your thoughts for when you become the boss. From now on, if anything happens, report to me first, don't make your own judgments. Understood?"
