Chapter 600: Even the Bloody Restaurant Needs an Audit?
"Boss!"
As soon as he entered the clinic, Niu Daji came up to him.
"How are you feeling?"
Liu Zheng asked.
"Pretty good, I just keep feeling nauseous like I've got a chunk of fatty meat stuck in my throat."
Niu Daji complained.
"What did Doctor Medical Bee say?"
"Doctor Medical Bee said this is normal and told me to eat and puke as needed, and just eat again after puking."
Niu Daji said helplessly.
"Don't listen to that. Our delivery gang isn't short on a little cash. Just buy new ones after puking, and I'll reimburse you."
He comforted him.
"Thanks, Boss."
Niu Daji said happily.
"Where's the doctor?"
"Inside getting ready."
Niu Daji replied.
"Yeah, we do need to get ready to set off."
Liu Zheng nodded and called the driver.
If we're heading into the mountains, a sports car won't do. We need to switch to an off-road vehicle at least.
"Colonel, I want to change vehicles."
He said once the call connected.
"Can't do that. And not only that, I can't come out to be your driver either."
The driver's tone sounded quite unhappy.
"What's going on?"
Liu Zheng asked.
"The finance department says I've been taking too many field assignments recently and they want to audit my accounts. Verdammte Scheiße!"
The driver couldn't help but curse.
"Is everything okay? Do you need me to balance the books for you?"
He asked with concern.
"It's a small matter. When I was trading supplies, Bloody Restaurant didn't even exist yet."
The driver said confidently.
"Doesn't that mean your accounts actually have issues?"
Liu Zheng said suspiciously.
"What did I say?"
The driver retorted.
"You didn't say anything. Just be careful, and call me if you need anything."
He hung up the phone, then frowned deeply.
Whether the sudden audit on the driver was intentional or not, it certainly caused him a big problem.
Without a vehicle in the Ten Thousand Great Mountains, it was already troublesome. Without the driver and his arsenal, Liu Zheng had lost a significant source of firepower.
"Need to find a way to get a car."
He pondered.
But where to get one?
While Liu Zheng was lost in thought, Ace called him.
"Your cook's kelp bonito broth was amazing! Burp~"
Ace let out a satisfied burp.
"Huh? Didn't I tell her you like mushroom soup?"
Liu Zheng was taken aback.
"She said her father left her some top-grade bonito flakes, and since you gave her a quality piece of kelp, she took it upon herself to make this for me. I must say, it was a great decision."
Ace praised.
"The kelp I gave? Isn't that the one that tastes better the more melancholic the eater is? Oh right, you've been pretty down lately."
He remembered that Ace had recently been avoiding going home due to pressure to marry, which was indeed quite melancholic.
"Not anymore, no negative emotion a good meal can't fix. If it exists, just have two meals."
Ace said jovially.
"By the way, do you still have that kelp? The chef said the one you gave her is used up, but I want more tomorrow."
Ace asked.
"No more. The one I had was a gift too. I'll ask around later, but now that you're not melancholic, the broth might not taste as good."
Liu Zheng said cautiously.
"No worries, just force me to meet a marriage prospect once, and I'll be melancholic again immediately."
Ace shrugged.
"Hmm... That's quite Life. By the way, I'm thinking of getting a car to go to the Ten Thousand Great Mountains, do you have any leads?"
He asked casually.
In reality, lawfully confiscated, decommissioned, or updated police vehicles can be auctioned publicly. Metropolis should have a similar process.
"Do you want to buy or rent?"
Ace asked.
"Either is fine, whichever's more convenient."
"Do you want one with a badge or without?"
Ace asked again.
"You can actually buy one with a badge?"
Liu Zheng exclaimed.
"You can, but generally, those are only for collection or driving around isolated places, definitely can't flaunt it in public, and the price is much higher than a new car."
Ace explained.
"Then I'll go for one without a badge."
Driving a car with a badge into the Ten Thousand Great Mountains would be too conspicuous. Although it might have some deterrent effect, it seems more harmful than beneficial.
"Any specific requirements for the car?"
"Sturdy, easy to operate, powerful, adaptable to different terrains, and preferably with support for firepower."
He listed a bunch of requirements.
"Don't even think about firepower support. If I dare to sell you that, I'll be locked up until my dad comes back."
Ace rolled his eyes on the other end of the phone.
If the esteemed Travel Mage doesn't return, he'll be locked up till he dies.
"Alright, remove that requirement."
Liu Zheng agreed easily.
"Okay, I'll check on it. This matter is handled by another department; we're just the finance department making the accounts."
Ace nodded.
"Alright, thanks."
"It's no big deal, I get a commission for introducing business to them. But don't forget the favor you owe me. We Hobbits are even more vindictive than Dwarves."
Ace reminded him.
"Don't worry, I won't forget."
Liu Zheng assured him seriously.
"Boss, I'll go make you some tea."
Niu Daji promptly said after seeing him finish the call.
"What about the housekeeper?"
"Sister Xiao Mei took a leave; she said she's not feeling well."
Niu Daji replied.
"Not feeling well? Shouldn't she have the doctor take a look?"
He frowned.
Although Doctor Nile's treatment methods are a bit abstract, the results are quite effective and surely more attentive than those outside doctors.
