Chapter 9 - Snake Shadow in the Night
Manhattan, Central Business District, Fisker Building.
In the eyes of the world, this high-rise is a rookie in the business world and a symbol of the strength of financial tycoon Wilson Fisker.
But behind the scenes, this is the source of 40% of all crimes in the United States.
The owner of the building, Wilson Fisk, is also known as ‘KINGPIN’ in the underworld, which means ‘leader’.
The 70th floor of the building is brightly lit. Suddenly, with the sound of ‘clicking’ glass shattering, a figure was thrown out at an altitude of several hundred meters:
“No-!”
He was trying to catch something, like a drowning swimmer.
But in the end, because he couldn’t resist the gravity, he could only mourn and fall down.
‘Puchi—’
From afar, there was a sticky sound like a piece of meat falling to the ground.
Fortunately, there were almost no pedestrians in the central business district late at night, so no one noticed this scene.
Jin stuck his head out of the broken glass and watched the figure fall freely in the air; until he confirmed with his own eyes that he had landed, he retracted his head contentedly and took a deep puff of a habanero cigar:
“If you don’t want to be like him and try to see if you have the ability to fly, then you’d better tell me honestly what happened.”
In front of him, a gang member had snot and tears on his face:
“Jin Bing, Nick didn’t lie to you. It’s true that the FBI surrounded us and attacked the laboratory; we just happened to go out to buy cigarettes to escape the disaster…”
“Really, FBI?” Jin Bing sneered, took out the phone from his arms, found a name with the note “Ray Nadim” and dialed it:
“Hey, Ray, this is Wilson Fisk.”
“Wilson? What’s wrong?”
“There’s a lot of activity in your bureau tonight. Are there any interesting activities?”
“Wait, you’re talking about tonight? No one in the bureau has a mission tonight. It’s a rare peaceful day.”
“Okay, got it.”
Jin Ping hung up the phone and slowly crouched down in front of the trembling gang members: “Is there anything else you can tell me?”
“Boss…Boss! I’m innocent, I really just went out and bought a pack of cigarettes! Please…”
‘click’
Jin Bing fiddled with it seemingly at random, his head turned 180 degrees, and he could no longer say the following words.
Before Jinbian could speak, a gentle secretary clapped his hands.
Four big men in suits came in from outside the oak gate. The two dragged the body away, and the two began to clean the scene and the ground.
“Wesley, handkerchief.”
The secretary silently took out the regular white handkerchief from his pocket and handed it to him.
Jin took it and wiped his hands carefully: “What do you think about what they said, Wesley?”
“I think they may have been right to some extent. Maybe there was a group of people who pretended to be the FBI and attacked the laboratory.” Wesley replied calmly.
“Then they can’t be ordinary people, right? Or at least Earl, who is the most successful in strengthening, can’t die. Although he is an idiot, his ability to carry bullets is real. Ordinary people can’t have the ability to penetrate his defenses. weapons.”
Leaving the handkerchief still in the trash can, Jin gave an order: “Contact that old woman, we need to talk. Now is the time to use her.”
……
Rewind time two hours ago.
Hudson County, ‘Crawford’ Garment Factory.
“Wow, it’s really a good car!”
Seeing the first glimpse of the SHIELD modified car, Nolan couldn’t help but sigh.
It is different from Coulson’s “Laura” which is more British. The car in front of him was converted from a pure American muscle car.
With the classic color matching of flame red and brushed gold, even if it has not started, he can feel the huge power hidden under the steel shell of the body.
Franklin opened the door and got into the cab: “This surprised you? Come on, get in the car, I’ll show you the modifications made by those guys, you’ll be shocked.
DAME, they are really like in the movie, you can’t imagine what they did! “
‘Dang dang dang—’
The door of the cab was knocked; Franklin dropped the window glass, and a good old face appeared in front of him:
“Hello, Franklin. I have something to talk to Nolan about. Can I be his driver?”
Franklin was stunned for a few seconds, and then got out of the car at Nolan’s signal: “Okay, you have the final say.”
When Franklin left, Coulson started the car, and there was a pleasant sound from the engine: “I have to say, Mr. Nolan, what you did exceeded our expectations.”
Nolan ignored him: “I just want to know, how is your scoring work?”
“I didn’t bring the specific files, but don’t worry, the evaluation department unanimously believes that you are a good citizen and even have the potential to become a hero.”
“Oh?”
“Have you considered more in-depth cooperation with S.H.I.E.L.D.?”
“for example?”
“Becoming a consultant?”
“Haha.” As soon as Coulson spoke, Nolan knew what he wanted to say: “I don’t want to have anything to do with you until you clean up your troubles.”
“What’s the trouble?” Phil Coulson tried to figure out the hint in the other party’s words.
“What do you plan to do with the factory and bunker facility just now?” Nolan suddenly changed the subject.
“Nationalized, then auctioned. What’s wrong?”
“If I want to take pictures of this place, how much money do I need to prepare?”
Coulson gave him a surprised look, then he listened for a while with his ears sideways, as if he had received some instructions.
“Of course, of course… You can talk to our director about this later. Originally, he was very interested in this place and might use it as a sub-base.
If you are willing to serve as a consultant for SHIELD, all of this will of course not be a problem. “
“The matter of consultants will be discussed later; but can we perhaps serve as partners and cooperative units of S.H.I.E.L.D.?”
“You?” Coulson repeated suspiciously: “Well, the director said he will find time to meet with you, as long as you are willing to tell that, um, your ‘little secret’.”
“Okay. Let everyone next to your director who can hear our conversation leave, and let him check carefully to see if anyone is eavesdropping.”
The expressions of Coulson and Nick Fury on the other end of the headphones froze.
The meaning of Nolan’s words is self-evident.
After a while, a deep voice suddenly came from the car’s car stereo:
“I’m Nick Fury, you can start reporting.”
“Welcome, Braised Egg. First of all, whether you believe it or not, I can tell you that S.H.I.E.L.D. has been completely infiltrated, and the opponent is your old friend Hydra from World War II.
From the information I know, Phil Coulson, Clint Barton, May and others can be trusted, while Grant Ward and John Garrett are clear spies. You can start screening jobs from them and people who are closely connected to them. “
At the end, he added: “It stands to reason that I don’t need to remind me. But it’s best not to trust anyone except you.”
“I never trust anyone, including myself.” The voice from the car stereo was as calm as ever, as if what he had just heard was just a home-cooked recipe:
“I need some time to confirm the authenticity of the information, and I will contact you later. Agent Coulson, come back directly after sending this consultant home, I need your help.”
“No problem, Director.”
