Chapter 42 Unconscious
The hat continued expressing concern, not noticing anything wrong with Kailey until it was too late. Kailey's body slumped as if puppet strings had been cut. The witch hat noticed the movement and hurriedly approached her, frantically searching her using its senses. It only saw one of the previous two colors controlling the body. The color the hat knew as Kailey was barely perceptible. It found her color coalescing in the space where it previously saw the new soul being formed as if it was recuperating in that spot. The hat immediately called out, "Are you there?" futilely, hoping for a response.
As the hat thought its efforts were futile and nothing would happen, the color it knew as Aleshia began spreading out, reacting to its voice. However, Aleshia's control could only reach the extremities, such as the arms and legs, and it couldn't go above the shoulders to where the head was located. The hat, aware there was another soul inside the body, immediately considered going on top of Kailey's head to communicate with that soul, believing it would know what was happening or what it could help with.
The hat propped Kailey's body up in a chair in the room using its magic and levitated itself above Kailey's head before gently settling on her head. As soon as the hat landed, it began manipulating its mana and connecting itself to Kailey's mana circuits, essentially taking control over her body and allowing it to hear her thoughts. The hat immediately felt overwhelmed by panic as it exerted its control. The panic was consuming its mind and causing its emotions to go wild, making it struggle to regain composure. It couldn't communicate with the soul of Aleshia due to its current unstable state of mind.
After some time, the hat regained its equilibrium. All it could hear was Aleshia's increasingly panicked sobbing voice, "Kailey! Are you still here? Please be alive. You will be alive, right?" These words kept echoing in the hat's mind. Finally, it gained enough composure to announce, "Elemental Witch Aleshia, please calm yourself. You need to be calm so we can understand what is happening to Kailey." Kailey's limbs jolted as an unconscious reaction Aleshia had when she heard the voice speak to her. As Aleshia processed these words, she began attempting to calm herself down. She now understood that her panic could not continue. With a guiding voice, she calmed herself enough to have a coherent conversation.
