Peculiar Mist
Chapter 86 Peculiar Mist
As Aleshia shoved her arm into Dahdin's fur, Lucia looked over, inspecting Dahdin with concern. She wanted to leave Aleshia's head so she could conduct a more thorough examination to figure out what was happening to him. However, she hesitated because she had been warned that if she left Aleshia's head, something unexpected could happen to her wearer. Lucia could do nothing, only able to see the surface-level strangeness happening to Dahdin.
Aleshia was frantic, her hands fumbling as she expertly manipulated the revitalizing energy she released in Dahdin's fur. After what felt like an eternity, she finally was able to make contact with the skin. As soon as she did, she began to increase the energy she had been emitting.
This increase in energy made the dim glow emanating from the wolf's fur gradually grow brighter as it increasingly absorbed the energy. After a minute or two, Aleshia fell backward, exhausted, believing she had saved the wolf. However, as she was catching her breath, she noticed something odd. A peculiar fog or mist started to envelop Dahdin, swirling around the areas where her magic had made contact with him. It seemed as though it was trying to break through his defenses.
"What is that?" Lucia and Aleshia slowly muttered simultaneously. Lucia looked down, and Aleshia looked up in agreement. "We should probably not let that mysterious mist cross into his body," Lucia said. "Agreed," Aleshia responded. Aleshia focused her energy, conjuring water to form a protective shield around herself before spreading it to envelop Dahdin. She focused on strengthening the shield, hoping it would provide a formidable defense against the mysterious mist that surrounded him. However, the fog went through the water without any signs of slowing down.
Aleshia's plan had failed, so Lucia took her turn. She conjured her newly created magic and created a barrier of her own. The barrier had interlocking archaic lettering that looked like halos of light. The light dimmed as they turned smaller, condensing into powerful but small in-number wards. The light surrounded Lucia and then floated toward Dahdin, covering him. It seemed like that was the right move, as when the rivers of light connected with the mist, they began to dissipate. But at the same time, it took a massive toll on Lucia.
"That seems to be doing the trick," Lucia spoke with some strain in her voice. Aleshia worriedly looked up at Lucia and asked, "Is there something I can do?" in response, the witch hat suggested, "Perhaps try mimicking the magic I am producing."
