Dropped the Ball
Chapter 91 Dropped the Ball
Aleshia remained still for 10 minutes, focusing entirely on the orb in her hands. After those 10 minutes, she looked up, signaling she had finished creating the orb. However, she wasn't as confident in this orb as she was in the previous one, as she hadn't experimented with it as thoroughly, and it didn't contain as much power. Despite her uncertainty, she believed that Lucia could inspect and improve it.
Aleshia hesitantly held the orb above her head and said, "I'm not as confident with this one, but I believe it will work for now. Could you see if you can improve it?" Lucia took hold of the orb from Aleshia's hands and studied it. She noticed that the orb didn't hold as much power as the previous one and was comparatively weaker. However, it was still a blessing since it would continue to delay the mist from breaching the sigils protecting Dahdin's body.
Aleshia watched as Lucia studied her orb with a hint of satisfaction in her eyes. Nonetheless, Aleshia's face was expressionless, as she still couldn't control the tiny facial muscles of Kailey's body.
Aleshia gazed to her left and noticed the orb she had created gently hovering above the ground. Since Lucia was engrossed in studying the new orb, Aleshia decided to grab the orb. She wanted to explore its unique qualities, which she hadn't had the chance to do before because she had been creating the orb Lucia now held.
Aleshia gazed at the orb in her hands. She began tapping its surface as if she already knew what to do. However, she was still unfamiliar with all its intricacies, and many of its features remained undiscovered to her. Suddenly, a faint click could be heard, reminiscent of the sound Lucia had heard when she experimented with the orb herself.
The surrounding mana began moving toward the orb in Aleshia's hands. Lucia felt the disturbance and immediately knew what would happen because she heard something similar minutes before. "Aleshia, you need to reverse what you did immediately!" Startled by the sudden shout, Aleshia dropped the orb.
The orb fell on the ground but did not shatter into a million pieces when it collided with the ground. However, now that it was so close to the ground, it began sucking the life from the grassy ground. The life was drained from the ground into the orb, causing the grass to wither. Aleshia stood there, fearful and astonished at the power displayed by the orb.
