The Walking Dead: reborn as Carl

Chapter 146: Chapter 149 Peace

"What are you doing here?"

Beth glanced at Carl and continued to sweep the dust from various places in the room with a broom.

"Can't I come?"

Carl turned his head and looked around. This room was quite nice. It was a suite. It seemed that it had once been inhabited by a powerful person under the warden.

First there is a sofa and coffee table layout similar to that of a living room, but not very big. After that is the bedroom, and there is also a separate bathroom which is quite spacious and has a shower.

In addition to these, there is a balcony behind the bedroom, and on the other side is a leisure room connected to the balcony, with bookshelves, desks, sofas, wooden tables, small wine cabinets, and a refrigerator.

When Carl saw this room, he was slightly stunned. Are the living conditions in prison so good?

Then Carl realized that this was Georgia, and an independent prison.

I heard that there is a prison warden in Florida who is leading the sale of drugs. Compared with this, better living conditions are nothing.

Here, the warden is the boss, and it is not excessive for the powerful people under the warden to have a room like this.

Although Carl had not been to the seventh floor yet, he could roughly guess how luxurious it was by looking at this room.

"Can you please stop walking around?" Beth glared at Carl unhappily.

"Let me help you." Carl stood obediently in front of Beth.

"No need, go find a room yourself. It's your fault for not coming earlier. There are only four rooms like this, and they are gone now."

Beth snorted and pushed away, and Carl dumped the garbage into his pocket at the door.

Karl smiled indifferently, stood quietly aside, and asked softly, "Are you hungry? It's already afternoon, and you don't seem to have eaten anything."

Beth stopped, touched her belly, thought about it, and nodded.

"Well, wait for me, I'll get you something to eat."

Carl hurried out the door. Although he didn't know where the food was now, it must be in Sean and Lori's room.

I'd just take this opportunity to visit everyone and get familiar with their rooms.

This dormitory building is actually not small, as the prison can accommodate thousands of prisoners.

The proportion of prison guards is generally 8%, plus some miscellaneous staff, this dormitory building needs to accommodate three to four hundred people.

The living conditions for ordinary staff on the lower floors are not bad, but the single rooms for these leaders take up a lot of space.

There are only eighteen rooms on the sixth floor, but this is enough for all the elderly people in the team to live on this floor.

Beth's room is on the far left of the sixth floor. There is another room opposite, which should also be a larger suite with the same layout.

The door was not closed, so Carl walked in directly. Well, it was indeed Sean and Lori's room. It seemed that although they were choosing the room, they actually had a plan in mind.

Sean was cleaning and Lori was sitting far away.

"Carl, come here." Lori saw Carl and waved to him.

Carl walked up to Lori obediently. Lori's belly had grown visibly larger, probably only a month or two.

Lori held Carl's shoulder with one hand and gently rubbed Carl's head with the other hand. She didn't say anything, and then somehow, she leaned her head on Carl's shoulder, her eyelids a little wet.

Karl was a little helpless and distressed, and glared at Sean fiercely, "Sean, are you bullying my mother?"

Sean, who was still cleaning, looked confused, but he put his tools aside and hurried over.

"What's wrong, Carl?"

As he got closer, Sean noticed Lori's expression and quickly squatted in front of her, "Lori, what's wrong with you?"

"I...I'm fine." Lori choked a little.

Carl finally took this opportunity to get away and asked in a very unpleasant way, "Do you have anything to eat? Beth is hungry."

"I brought up some snacks. They're in that black pocket. Carl, go get them yourself."

Sean said a few words over his shoulder, then quickly turned back to support Lori's body and comforted her softly.

Carl glanced at Lori, not knowing what was wrong with her, but it was normal for pregnant women to have unstable emotions, so she should be fine with Sean around.

Carl opened the pocket and found coincidence, dried fruits, milk, and plums...

Carl took some and left the room, returning to Beth's room, which was also his own room.

"Beth, eat something first." Carl handed Beth a bag of dried fruits.

"Oh." Bei took it without any hesitation, and then looked at Karl, "Why don't you leave?"

"Where should I go? I just checked and there are no rooms left." Carl said seriously.

"No? How is that possible! Carl, do you think I'm stupid?" Beth glared at Carl unhappily.

Carl blinked, pouted slightly, and said pitifully;

"Well, really, there are no rooms on the sixth floor. Everyone is on the sixth floor. If you want me to go to another floor alone, then, fine."

"Damn it. Well, it's all thanks to you." Beth pouted, threw the broom aside, sat on the sofa and ate dried fruits.

"What's the benefit?" Carl was slightly stunned.

"Do you think I don't know? If it weren't for you, how could I be assigned to this room?" Beth pouted, then looked at Karl with some dissatisfaction and said:

"Carl, I think Sean is going too far. He's acting like a big boss now. He has the final say on everything, and the discrimination is too obvious."

Carl sat next to Beth, slightly sideways, and leaned against Beth. Beth was already used to this level of contact and behaved normally.

Karl likes to lean on Beth. This feeling is very peaceful. He narrowed his eyes slightly, thought for a while and said:

"Beth, you have to understand something. Different treatment is normal. There is a more appropriate adjective for it: class.

Even before the catastrophe, the world was full of classes, let alone the current world where order has collapsed.

Beth." Carl turned his head slightly and pressed his nose against Beth's arm so he could look at her at the same time.

"What's wrong?" Beth ate some dried fruit, then took out an almond and fed it to Carl.

Carl opened his mouth slightly and took it. It was warm and soft, no, the almonds were a little crispy.

After chewing the almonds Carl said;

"Beth, you have seen too little. You haven't seen the dark side of this world. You are like a flower in a greenhouse. You think that what you see is all.

But it's not.

I don't know if this is right, but if possible, I don't want you to see those things. I want you to live in a place where you can't see any filth forever.

You just need to see the good.

Class exists, no matter where it is, and no one can change it. What I can do is to do my best to put you and me at the top of the class."

"Damn it, Carl, people should be equal. Everyone should be free and an independent individual with autonomous consciousness." Beth said unconvinced.

"maybe."

Carl smiled and turned his head to lean on Beth in a more comfortable position, "Beth, I want more."

"help yourself."

"Forget it, I won't eat it."

"Damn it."

Beth popped a peeled pistachio into Carl's mouth.
